Storage Made Easy Uniquely designed to nest and stack Each container shape has a matching shaped lid. In fact, most have the SAME shaped lid; no more searching in vain! 44 5 FreshContainer Care and Cleaning Your containers are designed to be stain-resistant and dishwasher, freezer, refrigerator, and microwave safe. Your VacuWare® FreshContainersTM Forget about all of the plastic containers you have in your kitchen right now… this is the last set of food containers you will ever need! Attractive and functional in ways you probably never thought possible, your FreshContainers will meet and exceed all of your food freshness needs! IMPORTANT: Periodically check the seal and underlying rim of the container for food particles to ensure the tightest seal. If the green perimeter seal is ever removed from the rim of the lid, be sure that the smooth side of the seal faces in toward the container lid (the dotted pattern or relief impression should face away from the lid). To disassemble green button valve: The Benefits Looking at underside of lid, push underside of green button with thumb and use other hand to remove other side of button (hard plastic piece). Pull rubber valve through top of lid. Hand wash these pieces with warm soapy water. Allow pieces to dry thoroughly before immediately reassembling. Fresh Preserves your food up to three to five times longer Strongest possible seal with today’s technology Versatile Use in the freezer, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher WARNING: Choking Hazard. Product contains small parts not suitable for small children. To reassemble green button valve: Push rubber valve through hole in top of VacuWare lid. Valve is properly installed when valve flanges catch on underside of lid. Press hard plastic green button through hole in valve. NOTE: Do not attempt to assemble button and valve before installing into lid. This can damage the valve and will affect the seal. Install valve before green button. Attractive enough to use the containers as a serving dish, and the lid as a trivet Use one dish for the entire storing, heating, and serving process! FreshContainer Safety Durable Do not place hot food under a vacuum! Always allow the food to cool first and then seal and store. Virtually indestructible Will stand the test of time in your kitchen FreshContainers are Ideal for: Never use VacuWare containers in the oven. Use your FreshContainer only for its intended purpose. WARNING: Vacuum packaging is not a substitute for proper food handling. Perishable foods still must be refrigerated or frozen for storage; refrigerate, freeze, and thaw foods appropriately. FreshContainers are designed to be used in conjunction with VacuWare vacuum devices only. Convenient No more replacing broken, stained, or warped serving pieces Snack Foods Fresh Foods You’ll never have to find a matching lid again Leftovers Uniquely designed to stack in each other or together For Sealing Instructions with FreshStation see page 13 and with FreshPump see page 15. FreshContainer Helpful Hints If you are sealing food for an extended period of time (for example, freezing bulk foods), we recommend you double the sealing time to ensure the best possible seal. If your FreshStation takes ten seconds for the light to indicate a completed seal, then continue sealing for another ten seconds. YOU CANNOT OVERSEAL YOUR FRESHCONTAINERS! Remember that thick liquids (such as caramel or chocolate) expand during the sealing process. Be sure to leave space in your FreshContainer for this expansion. You may need to “break in” the valves on your FreshContainers the first time you use them. Press the green button around the edges several times to maximize the effectiveness of your valve. Scratches and small cuts or nicks on the rim of your container, lid or on the green seal will affect the seal of your FreshContainers. If eating or preparing foods in the FreshContainer, be careful not to scratch the rim. Be sure foods are not wrapped in plastic of any kind before placing in FreshContainer, as this can block the airflow when sealing. When sealing liquids, fill your FreshContainers no more that 2/3 full to reduce the potential of liquids getting pulled into the valve. 6 For maximum freshness, be sure fruits and vegetables are dry before sealing. 7 FreshJarLids Care and Cleaning If your FreshJarLids need cleaning, run them through a dishwashing cycle, or hand-wash in warm, soapy water, dry, and reseal. Your VacuWare® FreshJarLidsTM The FreshJarLid is an innovative addition to the concept of vacuum sealing. The FreshJarLid allows you to transform nearly any jar into a vacuum sealing container! Remember when you opened that jar of sauce for the first time and heard the “pop” that told you the contents were fresh? Experience that same freshness time and time again with our tell-tale “whoosh”! Benefits Fresh Preserves jarred foods up to three to five times longer Achieve grocery store freshness every time you seal and reseal Convenient Seals and reseals in seconds Allows you to keep the jars in the door of your refrigerator and save space Liquid vacuumed through the jar lid valve may reduce the effectiveness of the vacuum seal. If this occurs, run your FreshJarLids through a dishwashing cycle. If you continue to experience difficulty with the quality of the seal, disassemble, clean, and immediately reassemble (see instructions below.) To disassemble green button valve: Push underside of green button with thumb and use other hand to remove the hard plastic piece of the button. Pull rubber valve through top of lid. Hand-wash these pieces with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly before immediately reassembling. WARNING: Choking Hazard. Product contains small parts not suitable for small children. To reassemble green button valve: Push rubber valve through hole in top of VacuWare lid. Valve is properly installed when the valve flanges are in full contact with the surface of the jar lid. Press hard plastic green button through hole in valve. NOTE: Do not attempt to assemble button and valve before installing in lid. This can damage valve and will affect seal. Install valve before green button. Much easier to open than a conventional jar lid! For Sealing Instructions with FreshStation see page 13 and with FreshPump see page 15. FreshJarLids Safety DO NOT use on cans, plastic containers, or thin glassware: pressure from the vacuum seal could cause damage. Use your FreshJarLid only for its intended purpose. FreshJarLids Are Ideal for: FreshJarLids are designed to be used in conjunction with VacuWare devices only. Salsas & Sauces Preserves Condiments FreshJarLids Helpful Hints Be sure the jar rim and the green underside of the FreshJarLid are clear of food particles to ensure an airtight seal. Leave one inch of empty space in your jar to avoid trapping food or liquid in the valve. A FreshJarLid stores conveniently inside the door of your FreshStation! Be sure to seal only jars whose rims fit within the green portion of your FreshJarLid. 8 9 FreshStation Care and Cleaning To avoid risk of electric shock and/or damage to the unit components, do not immerse your FreshStation in water. Your VacuWare® FreshStationTM Your FreshStation is an innovative device that eliminates the labor and guesswork in vacuum sealing your food! Your FreshStation removes the air from your container, locks in the freshness, and lets you know when the process is complete! Use only non-abrasive cleaners to wash the surface of your FreshStation. If liquid or food is accidentally vacuumed into the FreshStation wand or reservoir, simply remove the affected part, clean with dish detergent, and promptly reassemble. Should the wand hose become clogged with liquid or food, remove and run warm, soapy water through the wand hose and reservoir, and immediately reassemble. The Benefits Compact Unit: Compact, lightweight, powerful unit NOTE: Your FreshStation wand can be removed for easy cleaning. Achieves the strongest seal possible with today’s technology FreshStation Wand, Hose and Reservoir Assembly Seals your food to keep it fresher up to three to five times longer Convenient Seal and reseal at the touch of a button Use your FreshStation on a flat, dry surface. Cord storage in the back of the unit eliminates countertop clutter Never submerge your FreshStation or its cord in water, or use on any wet, slippery surface. Smart Engineering Never place your FreshStation on the stovetop or other hot surface. No guesswork LED light announces a completed seal Uniquely designed reservoir system keeps accidentally vacuumed fluids from reaching the motor Conveniently store your Recipe Cards, FreshJarLid, and Quick Start Guide in the door! FreshStation Safety Always plug your FreshStation into a 120 volt GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet. Do not operate your FreshStation if it is damaged or malfunctions in any way, or if the plug or power cord is damaged. If FreshStation, cord, or plug is damaged, return to service center for repairs. For more information, call: 1-888-VacuWare Use your FreshStation only for its intended purpose. Your FreshStation is designed to be used with VacuWare products only. To reduce the risk of electric shock, your FreshStation has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug fits in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not attempt to force the plug into the outlet, or alter the plug or outlet in any way. To disconnect your FreshStation, unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Do not disconnect by pulling on cord. Close supervision is required when your FreshStation (and any electrical appliance) is used near children. Read your FreshStation Quick Start Guide and Instruction Manual for operating instructions. FreshStation Helpful Hints Follow the instruction sequence given to maximize your seal’s integrity. Properly install your FreshStation wand by first inserting the bottom of the wand, then the top. To seal food for an extended period (i.e. freezing bulk foods), we recommend you double the sealing time to ensure the best possible seal. If your FreshStation takes ten seconds to indicate a completed seal, then continue sealing for another ten seconds. 10 Place FreshContainer, FreshPouch, or FreshJarLid directly in front of your FreshStation to make sealing easier. 11 FreshStation Operation To Seal FreshContainers and FreshJarLids 1 Pull length of cord needed from storage at the back of your FreshStation unit (cord extends to 3 ½ feet.) 2 Plug the FreshStation into a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet, away from any area where it could be splashed by or submerged in water. 3 Place the appropriate VacuWare lid on chosen container or jar; if using a FreshContainer, handles must align to achieve a seal. 1 FreshStation Diagram 4 Remove the wand from your FreshStation; fit the green vacuum control port of the wand over the corresponding green button on your VacuWare lid. 5 To begin vacuum sealing, press the green button on top of your FreshStation (“Ready/On” LED light illuminates) and cover the vacuum control port on top of the wand with your thumb or finger. 2 4 3 IMPORTANT: It is important to keep your finger over the Vacuum Control Port during the entire sealing process. 4 8 7 6 Seal is complete when “Fresh Sealed” LED light illuminates. 7 Turn the power off by pressing the green button on the top of your FreshStation before uncovering the vacuum control port on the wand, and return the wand to your FreshStation. 6 5 1 To Release Seal 1 FreshStation Door 5 Wand Hose 2 Vacuum Control Port 6 Reservoir 3 Power Button 7 FreshJarLid & Quick Start Guide Storage 4 LED lights 8 FreshStation Wand Press and hold the green button on your FreshContainer lid or FreshJarLid until the “whoosh” sound (air rushing back into the container) stops. With your FreshPump, you don’t have to! 3 Holding the base of the FreshPump in one hand, use other hand to pull handle up and push down, maintaining connection between pump ring and green button at all times. HINT: Pushing down on the base of the pump while sealing will ensure the proper connection between the pump and green button. The Benefits Mobility Take your FreshPump anywhere you take your food! 4 2 3 Continue pulling and pushing until tension is felt in the handle. Depending on the size of the container or jar and its contents, it could take between 10-30 repetitions to achieve a proper seal. The FreshPump is designed to be used with VacuWare products only. Be sure to grip FreshPump around the handle only; fingers wrapped around lip below the handle could be squeezed during sealing process. FreshPump Helpful Hints Maintaining downward pressure on the base of the FreshPump will ensure a proper seal. 14 Seal is complete when tension is felt in the handle of the FreshPump. 15 FreshPouch Safety Your VacuWare® FreshPouchTM Freezer-Safe bags alone will not protect your food from freezer burn or spoilage. Air can still penetrate through tiny microscopic gaps in the closure. VacuWare FreshPouches are designed to eliminate the worry of keeping your food fresh and delicious! Your steaks, chicken, seafood, and frozen vegetables will be as fresh as the day you bought them! Benefits Fresh Keeps frozen foods fresher three to five times longer Ice crystals will not form on sealed foods Made of puncture resistant material Convenient Take advantage of sales by buying and freezing in bulk Space to label contents and date on each FreshPouch Easy to use For Sealing Instructions with FreshStation see page 18 and with FreshPump see page 19. Caution: Your VacuWare FreshPouch is not a toy and is unsuitable for children. Use your FreshPouch only for its intended purpose. To avoid risk of suffocation, keep your FreshPouch away from babies and small children. Do not place in a crib, play yard, or anywhere within reach of children. FreshPouches are designed to be used once and in conjunction with VacuWare devices only. FreshPouch Helpful Hints Make certain that your seal is free of food particles before sealing. If there are any food particles on the seal, your seal may be lost over time. We recommend pre-freezing fruits, particularly berries, for an hour or more before sealing in a FreshPouch. The vacuum seal could crush the berries, or cause them to stick if they are not pre-frozen. Use care when sealing sharp food items, such as those containing bones. These could puncture your FreshPouch and affect the seal. Be sure not to overfill your FreshPouch. Do not fill any higher than the black vacuum port. Overfilling your Pouch will affect your ability to seal. Beef may darken in color after sealing due to the loss of oxygen. This is not a sign of spoilage. To ensure maximum seal, place the green FreshPouch Seal over the black vacuum port after sealing. We recommend pre-freezing meat, seafood, or vegetables for an hour or more before vacuum sealing. This will ensure the best quality seal. If you cannot pre-freeze, place a paper napkin inside your FreshPouch to help control excess moisture during the sealing process. NOTE: FreshPouches are designed for single use only! Your FreshPouches are Ideal for: Meat Seafood Cheese Frozen Vegetables 16 17 3 Seal is complete when “Fresh Sealed” LED light illuminates. 4 Turn the power off by pressing the green button on the top of your FreshStation before uncovering the vacuum control port on wand, and return the wand to your FreshStation. 5 Attach the green FreshPouch Seal over the black valve, pressing firmly to ensure an airtight seal. To Seal FreshPouches 1 Prepping Your FreshPouch: 1 Place desired contents into your FreshPouch. Be sure to leave the area from the black port to the top of the FreshPouch empty. Do not overfill, as this will affect ability to seal. Sealing Your FreshPouch Using Your FreshPump: 2 2 3 PULL 3 With clean hands, peel away clear adhesive at the top of your FreshPouch. Check to be sure no food has adhered to the seal. 1 Fit bottom ring of FreshPump over black valve. 2 Holding the base of the FreshPump in one hand, use other hand to pull handle up and push down, maintaining connection between pump ring and black valve at all times. With opening nearest you and FreshPouch (clear side) facing up, grasp top corners with fingers and thumbs. Pull tight (hands pulling outward) while folding date/contents label over until white, dotted line shows. Press corners only. 5 1 2 HINT: Pushing down on the base of the pump while sealing will ensure the proper connection between the pump and valve. 3 FOLD OVER PULL 3 Continue pulling and pushing until tension is felt in handle and air depletion is noticeable inside the FreshPouch. 4 Attach green FreshPouch seal over the black valve, pressing firmly to ensure an airtight seal. 4 4 4 Place fingers at center of folded seal. Press firmly toward corners. Repeat several times, firmly pressing every part of seal. Sealing Your FreshPouch Using Your FreshStation: 2 1 1 Remove the wand from your FreshStation; fit the green vacuum control port of the wand over the black valve on your FreshPouch. 2 To begin vacuum sealing, press the green button on top of your FreshStation (“Ready/On” LED light illuminates) and cover the green control port on top of the wand with your thumb or finger. Keep this covered during the sealing process. 18 To open your FreshPouch: 5 5 Tear FreshPouch open at notches under the seal.
