It was eight years into their relationship when Shane Hibberd popped
the question to his high-school sweetheart Sarah Pineda. “Shane
had surprised me with a mani and pedi at my fave spa. When he
picked me up, we went for a walk and the next thing I knew we
were in this quiet spot, and he was down on one knee,” Sarah smiles.
When their W-day arrived, it was an intimate soiree with 60 guests
in attendance at the Furry Creek Golf and Country Club, a gorgeous venue overlooking Vancouver’s coastline. With a brown and
green motif in mind, Shane and Sarah ensured that all their details,
from their invites to their cupcakes, followed their theme. “Our
venue had an incredible view, and we didn’t want to compete with
that decor-wise, so we kept it simple,” Sarah says. A particularly
memorable wedding moment: when Sarah’s two cousins surprised
the duo by singing the same song that Sarah and her sister had sung
13 years earlier at their uncle’s wedding. Post-party, Sarah and
Shane jetted off for a honeymoon in Hawaii. “We had such a blast
at our wedding and honeymoon,” Sarah exclaims. “If there’s one
thing we’d tell others, it’s to plan your wedding the way you want
it, decide what’s important to you, and definitely don’t wait to go on
your honeymoon!”
