We look forward to seeing you in Tortola and are excited to host you in our new Moorings Village! 7 Environmental Leadership As The Moorings expands and improves its base facilities, environmental initiatives remain the focus, in an effort to preserve the cruising grounds and coastal beauty for generations to come. British Virgin Islands Environmental Focus The new facilities in Tortola have been designed and built with a major focus on enhancing the marine environment in the Road Town Harbor. The new breakwater that has been built is designed with multiple channels to allow the natural flow into the harbor and improve seawater circulation. This natural circulation is assisted through a seawater pump that moves existing water from the harbor entrance into the innermost portion of the harbor. This pump can circulate enough water to replenish the harbor every 8 days. This refreshment greatly improves the abundance of sea life and quality of the water in the Road Town harbor. A desalination plant has been constructed on our base to provide over 60,000 gallons of water per day. A water recycling system has been incorporated into our laundry area and maintenance facility which saves millions of gallons of water per year. Biodegradable Soaps All Moorings bases worldwide will be using biodegradable soaps for cleaning of the yachts. Environmentally-Friendly Bottom Paints and Water Filtering The Moorings uses EPA-approved bottom paints for our hulls to take every precaution possible to protect the sea. This is taken a step further at The Moorings haul out facilities in The British Virgin Islands, where all of the runoff from yacht cleaning is contained and filtered before being reintroduced into the environment. Protecting Our Reefs The Moorings leads in helping to preserve our reefs through encouragement of our charterers to use mooring balls rather than anchoring. In locations such as Belize, we are assisting in the funding and placement of new mooring balls. 8 New Moorings Website Coming Soon! Keep a watch for the all new Moorings website coming this fall. The base is located only 20 minutes from the Phuket airport at the new Ao Po Grand Marina. This marina offers state of the art floating docks with water and electricity available at all slips. The marina is conveniently located within 5 minutes of several resort hotels which can provide customers with a range of options for pre or post charter accommodations. The master plan for the marina village includes additional services such as restaurants, bars, retail and luxury villas to be completed over the next two years. The Moorings will also offer the option of one-way charters from Phuket to Langkawi, Malaysia for an additional fee. This will open up a cruising ground extending 140 miles south of Phuket and will include the 104 islands that make up the Langkawi group. We have also added a new base in Orhaniye, Turkey which allows the exploration of the best sailing areas that the Turkish waters have to offer. Orhaniye is ideally located on the west coast of the Hisanoru peninsula with a mountainous coastline that offers numerous anchorages within easy reach of the base. Stretching for 30 miles into the Aegean Sea between the Greek Islands of Kos and Rhodes, the peninsula provides a sailor’s paradise with late morning winds building to 25 knots and deep blue seas with secluded coves, rugged mountains as a backdrop, and small tranquil villages offering many local Turkish delicacies. The base is also easily accessible from the airports in Dalaman or Bodrum. The Moorings moved its northern-most Croatian base to Agana Marina, 10km north of the ancient walled town of Trogir and just 20 minutes transfer from Split airport. The new base is located in a beautiful, traditional village and offers direct access to outstanding sailing, with over 30 different islands within the Agana sailing area alone. Moving from the previous base of Kremik, the new Moorings Agana base is closer to the airport and is ideally located for those looking to explore either the north or south Croatian cruising area, both of which boast stunning national parks, secluded bays and bustling towns full of character. Marina Agana is well protected from the wind and any swell, and there are several local taverns and restaurants to choose from just two minutes walk away in the local village, called Marina, which offer delicious, locally caught fish and good quality wines. Marina is a small Dalmatian village, nestling on the end of the Bay of Marina. Until recently Marina was purely a settlement of fishermen and farmers; production of olive oil, dried figs and local wine and produce still continues today. Within walking distance from the Agana base are sandy beaches, and the village is set against a backdrop of pine forests and olive groves. 11 The Moorings Power Leads with 474 and 372 Power Catamarans We are proud to introduce 2 all-new model power catamarans which are clearly ahead of their time – a 4 cabin 47 foot power cat, and a 2 cabin 37 foot power cat.
