Furthermore, the Police Forensic Specialist, Dr. Mario Estradabran certified that the the injury was self inflicted thereby closing the matter as a case of suicide and lending credibility to the report from the common law wife who in a statement to the police informed that Gillett “pulled out his licensed 9mm pistol, placed it on the right side of his temple and fired a single shot”. The police reported also finding a 9 mm pistol and an expended shell on the floor next to Gillett. The victim was placed inside the back of the police vehicle which sped off to the San Ignacio Community hospital where emergency medical treatment was provided by the medical officer on duty, Dr. Fausto Pineda Jr. and a team of nurses on duty. In the absence of an ambulance stationed at the hospital, the BERT ambulance from Spanish Lookout with its team of paramedics was summoned and arrived in record time to transfer the patient, in critical condition, to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City. Within a few hours into the surgery, the victim was declared brain dead and placed on life support. He was pronounced dead at exactly 3:05 pm on Wednesday, September 12. In a statement to the police, the 24 year old common-law wife, Jacqueline Iberra, a customer service agent for the Insurance Corporation of Belize in Santa Elena, informed that about half an hour prior to the incident, Gillett arrived at the house they shared on Orange Street. She told the police that at the time of his arrival, she was laying in bed when he entered the bedroom with intent to work out a domestic incident they had during the 10th of September celebration. She said that the heated argument lasted for about half an hour. He reportedly became physical with her and allegedly pulled her off the bed towards him. He reportedly released her when she promised to continue the conversation the following morning. She said that he insisted in her not ending the relationship and that if she did, he reportedly told her that it would be over his dead body as he could not live without her. She told the police that he spun around and was heading, with his back towards her, to the front door when she saw him “pulled out his licensed 9mm pistol, placed it on the right side of his temple and fired a single shot”. There is a flaw in his mind because he does not decide the ranking but the visitors do. And the average Belizean does not want to see reality but he wants to believe. He wants to believe in the superiority of his country, in God and in everything what makes him happy. So it is not easy to speak about another view of realities. Give me a chance to try it. Ecotourism means something like living in line with nature. People all over the world pay extraordinary fees to experience this kind of holidays. They are riding to Equator, exploring Brazil or Botswana and some of them are coming to Belize. You are reading right. Some of them, Belize is not the middle point of earth. Belize – advertised by the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) – As Mother Nature’s Best Kept Secret compared to the world tourism – only a very few guests. They are coming with high expectations and are willing to spend for an average two week vacation approximately 10,000 BZD a head. This number is not an estimate from the government or myself, it is a result of a yearly poll, asked in the USA, Canada and Europe. The question was and is – how much are you willing to spend for a nice eco friendly vacation in Belize? Let us see what the tourist gets - They are going to swim in the Blue Hole on the Hummingbird Highway. After a few minutes, the so advertised eco friendly spot is disturbed through a truck, using jack brakes on the nearby highway. All the birds are getting quite to give space to this dominating noise from this reckless eco unfriendly entertaining driver. “Let us go to a quieter place in our eco friendly country. A jungle walk through the Guanacaste National Park nearby gives you a nice impression about our variety of plants and a good opportunity to swim in th river at the junction of Roaring Creek and Belize River. It is a beautiful spot. To hell with the Blue Hole.” The tour guides guiding. Going up the Hummingbird Highway, dodging potholes and hoping the unsigned bumps are not destroying the axle of the car, Guide and Eco tourists approaching the Guanecaste National Park. A well motivated girl at the reception is greeting the newcomers, but she has either to interrupt her speech or to raise her voice because right in front of the Ecopark a truck with an ill muffler is passing the place. The tourists are becoming pisst. “Do you have another location without noise pollution?” they ask. “Sure, in Mountain Pine Ridge is it very quiet. But I cannot go there straight; I have to change my car. The road is too bad. It is not too expensive to go there but you need to grip a little money out of your pocket.” Tired of all this exiting but unexpected experiences the guests agree to pay up front. Car change at the Georgeville junction and off you go in a Land Rover at about 15 miles per hour in a temperature of 102 degrees Fahrenheit in the air in the middle of dust in an eco unfriendly 12 miles per gallon car on a bumpy path you cannot call a road anymore. Its 70 miles to Caracol, on the way are most of the inland highlights of Belize. (Big Rock, Rio Frio, Rio on, Five Sisters, Calico Jacks, Bartoon Creek, 1000 ft Falls ….) but the price is more then one grip in the pocket. The visitor’s disks are complaining … Eco friendly paperbags are served to get the tourists vomit off the road. No littering in Belize! We are caring about our pristine environment! Vomit in the paperbag and take it home! (There are no garbage cans on the road! Why – we are Eco friendly we pull it down, only foreigners vomit!) And then, the noise again Ratta Ta Tat Ratta Ta Tat. A log truck comes down the terrible road out of the Mountain Pine Ridge with Jack Brakes or no muffler, it does not matter anymore. Ecotourism PLUS logs and Plus without muffler. Belize is THE Ecotourism country in the world. This is only one reason why the tourism in Belize is flowering. Ratte tat a, better ha ha ha. In the morning – the tourists flees the country – everything is fine. Ever single morning show starts his rhythm with Welcome to the beautiful Belize, the most blessed country of the world. And so it goes down on and on and on …. And the tourists keep staying away and the people are loosing jobs but the average Belizean believes, Belize is still the most beautiful place in the world and the number one in Ecotourism. Clifford Gordon, 24, Belizean laborer of a Santa Cruz area address in Santa Elena, reported to police that shortly after 8:00 o’clock on the morning of Monday, September 1, 2012, he and a male friend were sitting in the Joseph Andrews Park in Santa Elena when they were approached by a male person he knows as Rodel Guerra who lives across the street from the park. Gordon told the police that Guerra came over first to ensure that it was actually Gordon, with whom he had an old beef, sitting in the park. Gordon told the police that Guerra approached him and told him that he has an old score with him and that he would be right back to settle the score. Guerra departed but returned shortly thereafter. In the statement to the police Gordon informed that Guerra approached him a second time and pulled out a sharp, medium size, black handle machete from the waistband of the pants he was wearing. Guerra allegedly made a first swing at Gordon but missed. On the second swing however, Gordon raised his left hand to protect his face resulting in him sustaining a cut wound between the thumb and index finger of the left hand almost severing the thumb after which Guerra ran off. With his thumb hanging on by the skin, Gordon wrapped his hand in his shirt and was rushed to the San Ignacio Community Hospital and later transferred to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital in Belize City. Guerra remained on the run for 9 days. He relaxed his guard for the 10th September festivities and this was when he was caught by the police and escorted to the police station where he was formally arrested and charged for the crimes of aggravated assault and dangerous harm committed against Clifford Gordon. The accused, Rodel Guerra, 26, Belizean laborer of #14 Carmen Street, Santa Elena was brought before magistrate Narda Morgan on Wednesday, September 12 where he pled not guilty to the charge. Magistrate Morgan informed the accused that the dangerous harm charge will be heard on indictment in the Supreme Court. Prosecutor George Gomez objected to the granting of bail on the grounds that the accused has several other charges pending before the court and that if released on bail he might commit other crimes. Magistrate Morgan concurred with the prosecution’s request and denied bail. The accused was consequently ordered to be remanded to prison. The case was adjourned until Wednesday, November 28, 2012. Volcanologists said powerful eruptions were catapulting burning rocks as high as 1,000m (3,280ft) above the crater and lava was flowing down its slopes. Locals reported how the roaring of the volcano shook windows and roofs in nearby villages. Experts say the eruption of the Fuego, 50km (31 miles) south-west of Guatemala City, is the biggest since 1999. Head of Emergency Evacuations Sergio Cabanas told the Associated Press news agency that more than 33,000 people were being evacuated. Officials from the National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology (Insivumeh) said lava was covering a 7km (4.3-mile) area on the south and south-western side of the Fuego. The authorities recommended that air traffic controllers suspend flights in the vicinity of the volcano, as the ash cloud emanating from its crater was spreading quickly. The 3,760m-tall (12,336ft) Fuego is one of Central America's most active volcanoes, according to the Smithsonian Institute's Global Volcanism Program. Lucky numbers: 30, 53, 79. TAURUS: April 21 to May 21 You have probably had a busy week, and may feel anxious this moment. Perhaps you had too much good food last night, stayed up too late, or both. It goes against your grain to stay in and rest, but this is the perfect week to curl up with a good book. You are going to want some exercise, but don't overdo it. As you well know, you can get too much of a good thing! Lucky numbers: 06, 33, 61. GEMINI: May 22 to June 21 There might be a lot of work to do at home this week. Since certain family members are conveniently absent, you may feel that the burden falls on you. Don't be a martyr, however. Just do what you can and leave the rest. Uncertainties about money could also be on your mind, but put these aside for now. You will be better able to deal with them next week. Lucky numbers: 26, 49, 85. CANCER: June 22 to July 23 Too much indulging may leave you with a headache or stomachache to the point where you may want to spend most of today sleeping. The stress of this condition could cause you to snap at family members, but remember that they weren't the ones who chose to overindulge. Chill out, get some rest, and regain your strength. You will be back in the real world soon enough. Lucky numbers: 14, 60, 92. LEO: July 24 to August 21 You like to be honest with those you care about, but this week you are likely to be a bit too honest. Don't be too quick to take offense, and watch the tendency to be too blunt. If you temper your honesty with some diplomacy, you should get your message across with a minimum of hurt feelings. You create win/win situations that way. It is best for all involved. Lucky numbers: 47, 66 , 80. VIRGO: August 22 to September 21 You are very much in your element, excelling at all kinds of activities that demand precision, focus, and attention to detail. This is a good time to get your message across and get feedback for plans that are important to you. There's a New Moon in your sign, too, which is excellent for creating a fresh start in any area of life that you choose. Starting Saturday, get going on your brightest dreams, and let the Moon tide carry you to success. Lucky numbers: 21, 43, 75. LIBRA: September 22 to October 23 You might have to do a lot of running around when you probably want to stay home. Obligations to friends and family are likely to come up, and even though you are a bit tired you will want to help out. The best plan for this week is to get everything done as quickly as possible and then spend the weekend relaxing alone. You can have it both ways! Lucky numbers: 09, 35, 57. SCORPIO: October 24 to November 21 Don't be surprised if lots of visitors show up today. Perhaps you're hosting an impromptu social event or neighbors bring news of changes nearby. You should be brimming with energy, so you can handle it, but you might find it a bit unnerving if it gets too exciting. It's best just to go with the flow and enjoy situations like this. You can think about it later. Lucky numbers: 29, 42, 97. SAGITTARIUS: November 22 to December 21 You could be feeling a bit antsy today and may want to spend time exercising or trying a new sport or BACK TO SCHOOL RAFFLE For e very 5 g allons purchased y ou will ev gallons you Win $500.00 Raffle Starts August 1st - September 29th, 2012. Ask some friends to join you. Don't push yourself past your limits. This can only bring exhaustion or injury, and it won't help your fitness level. Exercise within your limitations and do it more often. Lucky numbers: 38, 56, 83. CAPRICORN: December 22 to January 20 An exciting communication could inform you of an advancement opportunity that you should explore. While you'd be quick to act under normal circumstances, this week you might be more cautious. You have sought recognition for a while, so don't be too reticent. Don't let your insecurity get the better of you. Learn all you can about the situation and then make an informed decision. Lucky numbers: 28, 63, 89. AQUARIUS: January 21 to February 19 A friend could ask for a loan and you might hesitate to give him or her the money. Follow your instincts. The person probably isn't too savvy about money. You might want to participate in some group activities, but don't let people take unfair advantage of you. You are willing to serve those who need you, but discriminate between those who do and don't really need your help. Lucky numbers: 20, 71, 87. PISCES: February 20 to March 21 It is time to let go of the past and focus only on the future. An old partner or friend may come into your life who can help you do just that. Communication with close friends and relatives is highlighted, and you may find yourself spending more time on the phone than usual. Enjoy this day as you anticipate your brilliant future! While eating, they talk about their moonshine operation. Suddenly, a woman at a nearby table, who is eating a sandwich, begins to cough. After a minute or so, it becomes apparent that she is in real distress. One of the hillbillies looks at her and says, 'Kin ya swallar?' The woman shakes her head no. Then he asks, 'Kin ya breathe?' The woman begins to turn blue and shakes her head no. The hillbilly walks over to the woman, stands behind her, lifts up her dress, yanks down her drawers and quickly gives her right butt cheek a lick with his tongue. The woman is so shocked that she has a violent spasm and the obstruction flies out of her mouth. As she begins to breathe again, the Hillbilly walks slowly back to his table. His partner says, 'Ya know, I'd heerd of that there 'Hind Lick Maneuver' but I ain't niver seed nobody do it before!' Gathering Chickens The farmer's son was returning from the market with the crate of chicken's his father had entrusted to him, when all of a sudden the box fell and broke open. Chickens scurried off in different directions, but the determined boy walked all over the neighborhood scooping up the wayward birds and returning them to the repaired crate. Hoping he had found them all, the boy reluctantly returned home, expecting the worst. "Pa, the chickens got loose," the boy confessed sadly, "but I managed to find all twelve of them." "Well, you did real good, son," the farmer beamed. "Caust uou left with only seven." Package applies only to Belizean Nationals, Diplomatic Corps, Residents, and persons working in Belize. Our new name, Full Basket Belize, is based on the Belizean proverb, “Wan wan okro ful baaskit” and reflects our belief that okra by okra, one by one, and achievement by achievement, people, communities, and countries can accomplish great things. Over the past six years, we have invested the donations from our members in communities all across Belize to help them take steps towards improving education, health, and the environment. A reading program for students in Cowpen Village, HIV/AIDS education in the Cayo District, riverbank clean-up and restoration along the Mopan, Macal, and Belize rivers, and all of the projects we’ve funded have each added one more okra towards filling the baskets of these communities. You can see a full list of the projects we’ve funded on our website: http://www.fullbasketbelize.org/ Along with our new name, we are pleased to announce that we are opening the application process for our 2013 Community Grant Program to continue the tradition of supporting local community projects. Ramos For months now most Pollsters are telling the American people that this year’s presidential election will be too close to call. Yet, they know that in the United States the President is elected by the amount of Electoral College Votes he or she obtained from winning the Popular Vote cast in each state. The more people a state have the larger the Electoral Vote is. Every ten years a census is done in the United States to determine if the states gained or lost people. States also loose congressional seats when their population decreases. It is possible for a Presidential candidate to get the most votes and still not be President because he or she lost the Electoral College Vote. This happened when the Democratic Candidate Albert Gore lost the Presidential Election to George Bush Jr. in the year 2000 due to the controversies that occurred in the state of Florida. According to the recent Electoral College count based on most polling that has been done by several polling agencies, the Democratic Party Candidate President Barack Obama has 237 Electoral College Votes and he needs 33 to win. While Mitt Romney the Republican Party Presidential Candidate have 206 Electoral College Votes and he needs 64 more to win. The following states are considered leaning Democrat to vote for President Barack Obama: Maine (4), Michigan (16), Minnesota (10), New Mexico (5) and Pennsylvania (20) totaling 55 Electoral College Votes which will give the President a total of 292 Electoral College Votes more than the 270 needed to win. The states that are considered Tossup States are: Colorado (9), Florida (29), Iowa (6), Ohio (18) and Wisconsin (10) a total of 72 Electoral College Votes. In looking at all these states and their voting record over the years, the only states that President Barack Obama stand a chance of losing are; Colorado and Florida which give you a total of 38 Electoral College Votes but he would still add 34 Electoral College Votes from the other states to his 292 giving him a total of 326 Electoral College Votes. Mitt Romney has an uphill battle to climb with his 206 Electoral College Votes because according to this map, it will be difficult for him to get the 64 Electoral College Votes on November the 6th, 2012 unless he can perform a miracle because I cannot see where those votes will come from. When I was watching the Republican Convention recently, whenever I tried to watch it I ended up turning the television off because it was too negative. It was all about blaming the President for everything and making a mockery of him as if he is nobody with Dirty Harry Clint Eastwood one of my favorite actors in the past. On the other hand the Democratic Convention gave me a feeling of inclusion and wanting to be with the people who were there. Mitt Romney is not the problem it is the Tea Party and the Republican Party and if they do not change their attitudes, it will be difficult for them to win future elections. The people controlling the Republican Party, act as if America belongs to them and them alone and they do not want other Americans to benefit from what this country has to offer. If you look at most of the elections that the Republican Party has won over the years, they used deceitful tactics, lies and propaganda to convince people to vote for them. They fail to realize that the American people are not stupid and resent when people are trying to disrespect their intelligence. Many members of the Tea Party and the Republican Party are racist and they want to pretend as if they are not but the American people are getting sick and tired of their politics. They will play on the American people’s mind again by using these emotional issues like; same sex marriage, abortion, healthcare and other wedge issues just to get votes but it will not work. People do not want the political parties to tell them how to live their lives. They want a party that will help them to achieve the American dream. The economy is in bad shape but the American people do not believe that President Barack Obama is responsible for the current state of our economy. Especially after our country wasted trillions of dollars in on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, bailed out Wall Street and others who now are refusing to give back some money to the American people so that they can gain meaningful employment to feed their families and themselves. They know what President Barack Obama inherited when he became president of this country and they are convinced that it will be many years of reconstruction before America can become the country in the world it once was. They also know, that if they vote in the Republicans to deal with our economic crisis, the poor, working class and middle class citizens will endure more pain and suffering. The election will be won in the voting booths and not through polls come November. The Pollsters must wait until our American people vote and not try to use their polls to suppress votes or predict the outcome of this election. Not only should the American deny the Republicans the presidency but they should be voted out of the House of Representatives and the Senate comesElection Day for being professional Obstructionist in Congress over the years. Sometimes I wonder if some of these pollsters are getting funds to fabricate polls to favor a certain candidate or candidates. There is too much money being spent on these elections and it is now time to stop this madness. I think these are other issues our Attorney General’s Office should add to his list along with the use of Voter Identification in some states to deter minorities from exercising their hard fought voting rights to vote.
