Alapaha River Ranch
Alapaha River Ranch Southeast Georgia The Alapaha River Ranch is a nearly 5,000 acre quality game managed property situated in Atkinson County. The Alapaha has been voted in the past as one of Georgia’s most outstanding waterways and is a favorite of locals for “Red Bellies” and catfish fishing and wood duck shoots. The Alapaha flows into the Suwannee River approximately 50 miles to the south. Located 3 miles south of the quaint town of Willacoochee, the area has a strong economy thanks to several large employers. The property enjoys diverse habitat and ecosystems due to the almost hilly nature of portions of the property, which are broken up by hardwood drains linked to the Alapaha. The bottomlands along the Alapaha contain some of the largest live oaks around creating some of the best turkey and deer habitat imaginable, not to mention some of the most beautiful hammock you will ever want to see. The planted pine uplands are filled with numerous oak species and multitudes of herbaceous plants perfect for wildlife forage. The planted pines consist of various age classes and species. The bucks pictured on the left, which include a 128-class, and a 15-point, were harvested on the property. For additional information. Pine units are various age classes and include longleaf, slash, and loblolly. Most of the property contains excellent soils for pine timber production. Over time, excellent income can be derived from the silviculture while enjoying the varied recreation opportunities that are available. Some of the hardwood bottomland contains beautiful oak hammock that’s so hard to find today. Turkeys flourish throughout the property as a result. All parcels include hardwood drains and sloughs providing great hunting opportunities and the perfect habitat for all wildlife found in this part of the country. Many food plots have been maintained throughout the property while many other areas exist that are perfect for the creation of new ones. Local assistance is readily available for helping create or to maintain food plots throughout the year. For additional information.
