The meeting point of three continents; it has known many civilizations that have left their marks and their cultural traces. Rhodes is one of the largest and most fertile of the Greek Islands, and because of its combination of impressive beaches, archaeological sites, and extensive medieval town, is one of the most visited. The climate is particularly good, with the weather typically sunny and mild from early March until November. Rhodes is the Crusader Isle, steeped in ancient history and boasting 300 days of blue skies a year. It lies at the southern end of the Dodecanese Island and is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Mediterranean. Rhodes takes in more annual holiday visitors than virtually any other Greek island. The attraction is not just the long summer season and the excellent sandy beaches but also the remarkably well preserved medieval city of Rhodes itself, castles galore courtesy of the Crusaders and a hilly, forested interior with some lovely landscapes, picturesque villages and famous gastronomic attractions. For more information please visit: http://www.rhodes.gr ANTIQUITIES It is forbidden to export antiquities and works of art found in Greece, with the exception of a very few categories for which a special license from the Ministry of Culture is required. If a traveler is found in possession of antiques or works of art without an export license, the object will be confiscated and the offender will be prosecuted. For more information, please contact the Rhodes Archaeological Service in the Medieval Town, Tel: (+30) 22410 25500 6 'Citius, Altius, Fortius' SEE TCP SAGITTARIUS LAUNCHING (G)LOCAL LEVEL HERITAGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP: STRATEGIES AND TOOLS TO UNITE FORCES, SAFEGUARD THE PLACE, MOBILIZE CULTURAL VALUES, DELIVER THE EXPERIENCE CATHOLIC SERVICES The Catholic church of Santa Maria, located at Neochori (on the corner of Kathopouli and Dragoumi Sts) holds services from April to October at 7am on weekdays and at 8am, 11am and 7pm on Sundays. It can be more expensive than the bus, but in contrast to other cities abroad taxis in Greece are very cheap. In Rhodes there are a lot of stations where you can find a taxi, but there is also the possibility of using your telephone (radio taxi) to book one. In the second case, the taxi comes to you and you do not need to wait at the station in order to get one. However, it costs a little more. Taxis in Rhodes are blue with white roof tops. Even if there is a limit in the price that you will pay for each destination, taxis in Rhodes have meters that begin from a minimal charge. Of course do not forget that during the night there is double charge as in most Greek destinations if not all of them.
