Decimo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
Junio 5, 2015
personas consagradas especialmente a mi servicio."

nacimiento.

Christian Formation and Evangelization
DO YOU KNOW that on the Friday following the
Solemnity of Corpus Christi the
Church celebrates the Solemnity
of the Sacred Heart? However,
because the Sacred Heart is the
patron of our parish, we
celebrate the entire weekend.
The theme of this feast honors
Jesus for the love symbolized by
His heart. Devotion to the
Sacred Heart became popular
with mystics in the 13th and 14th centuries, with special
promotion by the Jesuits in the 17th.
The tradition became widespread as a result of a series
of visions of the Sacred Heart to St. Margaret Mary
Alacoque, a French Visitation nun, in 1673-1675.
Almost 200 years later, in 1856, a special feast was
mandated for the universal church. In 1899, Pope Leo
XIII ordered that the world be consecrated to the Most
Sacred Heart of Jesus. Pope Pius XI elevated the feast
to the same rank as Christmas. Happy Feast Day!
Year of Mercy
Pope Francis has declared a Year of Mercy beginning
on December 8, 2015 and continuing until
November, 2016.
Let us practice the Spiritual Works of
Mercy during this Jubilee Year.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be
show mercy. (Matthew 5:7).
Pope Francis reminds us that when we show mercy to
others, we should not expect anything in return and so
we ask:
-Do I go through life only showing mercy “with strings
attached”?
-How is God calling me to surrender to the kind of
mercy that expects no rewards?

Social Justice
…Man was given dominion over the world to “till and
keep” it (Gn2:15), “keep” meaning
“caring for, protecting, overseeing, and
preserving” it…Yet, the earth is the
Lord’s no [not ours]; to him belongs
“the earth with all that is within it”
(Dt10:14)…117…Once the human being declares
independence from reality and behaves with absolute
dominion, the very foundations of our life begin to
crumble, for “instead of carrying out his role as a
cooperator with God in the work of creation, man sets
himself up in place of God and thus ends up provoking
a rebellion on the part of nature”
John Paul II, Encyclical Letter Centesimus Annus (1 may
1991), 37: AAs893 (1991), 840, Laudato Si
Message from your 8 month old
Spiritually Adopted Baby
“I like to listen to my Mommy’s voice!” Thank you for
praying for me! I am 8 months old now.
I’ve got long fingernails and I’m busy
getting ready for my birthday. I can’t wait
to see my Mom and Dad. Thanks to you and
your prayers, I’ll see them soon.
Month 8 - Now your spiritually adopted baby is finished
developing and is concentrating on gaining weight; she
might be making her mother uncomfortable with her
size. She will need a layer of fat to help her stay warm
after she leaves the perfect temperature inside her
mother’s womb. For some weeks now she has
recognized her mother’s voice. In a short time, her baby
will be born. Your baby’s mother appreciated the
prayers you have said for her and her baby throughout
the pregnancy. It has not been easy, but your prayers
have given her the grace she needed to bring her baby to
term.
Prayer to Mary, Mother of the Life Within O Mary,
Mother of the Life Within, all life we entrust to you;
The life of every expectant mother and the child within
her womb: The life of every human body, the life of
every human soul; The life of every newborn child and
the life of all grown old. You held the Lord to your own
heart and drew Him so close in. So draw us now in all
our needs, O Mother of the Life Within. Amen
If you would like more information about how
to spiritually adopt a precious pre-born baby growing in
the womb, please contact Denise Blair-Nellies from the

Sacred Heart Church Facilities & Church Etiquette
To encourage an ongoing awareness of what we have available in our church for those
with special needs, as well as to facilitate prayerful liturgies for all who worship at
Sacred Heart, please note the following conveniences that exist for your benefit.
GATHERING SPACE / CRY AREA is available for families with small children who
are unable to be quieted in church. The gathering space has comfortable seating and
a clear line of vision from the plate glass windows. We thank parents for their
sensitivity to fellow worshippers by using this space when their children require some
special attention. During the celebration of Mass this area acts as an “extension” of
the worship space and should be treated as such. We ask parents to supervise their
children and to encourage a spirit of prayer and reverence during the liturgy. Of
course, as seating is available, we encourage all to be seated in the pews and to use the
gathering space for overflow crowds and special needs.
BABY CHANGING STATIONS are available in all bathrooms: women’s, men’s, and
handicapped. We ask that you take advantage of these stations and not change
diapers on the sofas of the gathering area. The Father Hooper Room is available for
mothers who wish to nurse their children.
OUR CHURCH IS HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE. A handicapped restroom is
located next to the sacristy, via the east corridor from the gathering space with signs
directing one to other restrooms as well. The sanctuary is handicapped accessible via
a ramp. Also, a wheel chair is available in the gathering space. If you have any of
these needs, please see an usher or sacristan for assistance.
HANDICAPPED PARKING SPACES are marked on the east parking lot outside of
the Parish Offices as well as along Sacred Heart Lane and on the west parking lot.
Please save these spaces for those who need them. There is no parking in the circle
outside of church or along the driveway of the school parking lot.
DEVICES FOR THE HEARING IMPARIED are available for those with hearing
difficulties. Receivers can be found on the table in the gathering space or can be
obtained from the sacristan or a member of the staff. They are equipped with either
earphones or with a loop for those who have a T.A. switch on their hearing aids.
CELL PHONES, PAGERS, ALARMS, ETC. ARE DISCOURAGED in church so as
not to provide distractions from worship. We ask parishioners to either turn off or to
use the “vibrate” settings on these devices. If an emergency arises and you need to use
a phone, please come to the sacristy and see the sacristan.
COMING AND GOING: We strive to have our liturgies start on time. Please do your
part by making every effort to arrive before Mass begins so as to minimize traffic of
late arrivals. We do ask that latecomers not enter the worship area during the
readings or homily time. The liturgy is completed after the Blessing & Dismissal and
the Closing Hymn. We discourage worshippers from leaving Mass after communion
before the closing hymn. When one attends a banquet one doesn’t rush to the door.
So our attitude should be when we participate in the Eucharistic banquet.
If you have special needs, please contact a member of the pastoral staff or the Parish
Office. We will do all we can to assist you.
