EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD ! Expectant parents who wish to have their child baptized are asked to call the rectory at 387-7119 to prepare properly for this joyous celebration. Attendance at the pre-baptismal program conducted by the parish staff is required. The Archdiocese of Hartford mandates this program prior to baptism. Baptisms are held on the first and third Sundays of each month. Please call Denise at the rectory to register. The 2013 pre-baptismal schedule is Tuesday, April 9, 2013, Tuesday, July 9, 2013 and Tuesday, September 10, 2013. SAVE THE DATE Social Action Committee Fundraising Breakfast The Social Action Committee spring fundraiser breakfast will be held April 28, 2013 following the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Tickets: adults $8.00; children between 5-12 years of age $3.00: under 5 free. Just to let you know!!! In the event of an emergency please call the rectory and indicate the nature of your emergency to the answering service. Father Gene will be contacted and will return your call as soon as possible. If it is not an emergency, kindly leave your message clearly with the service, Fr. Gene or the parish secretary, Denise will return your call when office hours resume. For peace of mind, the service is normally on over weekend. It does offer the caller the Mass schedule and various options. WHEN YOU ARE HOSPITALIZED Please be aware that there are now stricter legal and ethical guidelines regarding, the dissemination of patient, information from hospitals to churches and clergy. In addition today’s shorter hospital stays make timely pastoral visit difficult at best. Therefore, if you have occasion to be hospitalized and desire pastoral support, you or a family member should do two things. Notify the rectory of the hospitalization as soon as possible. Also, upon admission to the hospital you will be asked if you desire to have your religious affiliation noted as part of your medical record. Please state both your denomination and parish. If you fail to do either of the above, your parish priest may have no way of knowing your needs. LENTEN REGULATIONS Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, are days of fast (one full meal for those 21-59 years of age) and total abstinence (no meat for those over 14 years) Besides Good Friday. Lent has six other Fridays which are days of abstinence (no meat for those over 14 years.) EASTER DUTY The obligation to receive Holy Communion between the First Sunday of Lent and Trinity Sunday extends from February 17, 2013 through May 26, 2013. LADIES GUILD 2013 SERVICE AWARD Each year, the Ladies Guild of Our Lady of the Assumption grants service awards to graduating high school seniors who are members of the parish and have shown a regular and continual commitment of service to Our Lady of the Assumption. In order to be eligible, applicants must: * Be a member in good standing at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (weekly attendance at Mass and reception of the sacraments) * Be a high school senior from any area high school * Have a minimum of 2 years active service since Confirmation to Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in one of the following areas: altar service, choir, usher, lector and/or religious education teacher * Complete the application packet which is available on line at www.assumptionchurch.com or at the Office of Religious Education in the Church Rectory (office hours are Mon.-Thurs. 105pm).
