ATHENS - VOLOS
Flights to Athens are available by many airlines from various parts around the world. During
summer months there are also many charter flights, especially from European cities.
Volos is in the Region of Thessaly on the Gulf of Pagasitikos, about 310 km north of Athens. It is
served by rail and road links (coach, taxi, rent car).
Travelling by Coach
1. Getting from Athens International Airport to the Liossion Coach Station:
Urban bus line Χ93 (Airport-Kifissos Coach Station), a 24-hr service, connects the Airport with
the bus terminal at Liossion street (KTEL Liossion). The bus departs from the arrivals level,
between doors 4-5.
Departure time: every 20-40 minutes
Time to reach Liossion KTEL Tation: 45-60 minutes
Airport Express Bus Line ticket: 5 €. Buy ticket from OASA office or from driver. Be sure to
validate your ticket inside the bus.
Note: Please make sure that your destination is Liossion KTEL Station, because there is
another KTEL Station in Athens (KTEL Kifissias) where X93 terminates.

Alternatively, one may take a taxi.
Day-time fare (05:00-24:00): €35 – Airport to Athens City Center Inner Ring
Night-time fare (24:00-05:00): €50
The flat fare price depends on the time of arrival to the destination.
The flat fare includes all applicable surcharges (V.A.T., meter start, luggage, toll fee, and
airport charge)
According to the Greek Legislation, taxi drivers should provide upon request a receipt for
the amount paid for transportation services.

Ticket Price: one way 27.40 €, return 48.0 € (as of March 2012)

Travelling by Train
1. Getting from Athens International Airport to the Larissis Train Station by metro:
Athens Metro's line 3 (blue line, see the attached map) connects the airport to the city centre.
One has to change to Metro Line 2 (red line) at Syntagma Station in order to reach the Larissis
Train Station. For more information please visit: http://www.amel.gr/
You can buy tickets using the Automatic Ticket Issuing Machines (ATIMs) in all METRO Stations
and from Ticket Offices.
Be sure to validate your ticket once at the station of your first boarding.
Timings: Trains run from the airport every 30 mins (on the hour and half hour) from 06:33-23:33
and it takes 40 mins from the airport to city centre (Syntagma Square).
Cost: Single journey ticket costs €8. You can transfer free to any other bus, trolley-bus or metro
line within 90 mins.
2. Getting from Larissis Train Station to Volos:
Ticket prices (one way): 30.00€ - 36.00€
