Large shapes and blocks of color at the start give way to refined sketching, brushwork moving to music and the use of luminous hues from carefully ground pigments. Ms. McArthur’s studios are based in Atlanta, Georgia. PVIC Art Gallery "Sidekick" G y m N e w s LIFEGUARDS OF THE PONTE VEDRA INN & CLUB Ponte Vedra Inn and Club is unique being that we are one of the two resorts in Florida with the USLA lifeguard certification. USLA (United States Lifesaving Association) is a certification that sets a standard for the amount of training hours and rescue equipment for the lifeguards. It differs from various lifeguard training programs because it focuses on the ocean while other training programs focus on pools and lakes. Ponte Vedra Inn and Club became a USLA certified agency in 1992. Each one of our guards goes through a 2 month training course which covers 40 hours of USLA open water lifeguard training and 40 hours of First Responder training. All our guards also hold certifications from the American Heart Association in basic life support. In addition we are privileged to have two lifeguards that are paramedics for St. Johns county Fire Rescue. Our pools stay guarded year round but from Memorial Day to Labor Day we guard our property’s ocean front from 10:00am to 5:00 p.m. daily. Feel free to ask any of our lifeguards questions you may have while enjoying the beach or pool. Remember, always swim near a lifeguard! Jr. Lifeguard Camp NEW SUNDAY SUMMER GYM HOURS |5 A.M.- 8 P.M. July 27-31 | 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. $200 per child (Includes lunch) Interested in becoming a lifeguard? PVIC is hosting a step-by-step course in water safety and life guarding techniques with “safety first” as the main focus. All candidates must be able to swim a minimum of 100 yards (four laps in the pool) non-stop. For more information and registration, please call the Gym at 273-7707. Personal Trainer, Jason Charles is now taking the instructional lead in the popular TRX Class for Golfers every Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Gym. Using one’s body weight and resistance from suspension straps, TRX assists golfers to increase range of motion while strengthening the hip and pelvic muscles necessary for stability.
