What a difference a long sleeve shirt or a jacket makes in the midst of cool weather. Although I have found myself leaving the house prepared for a cool day and things change and I wish I would have been prepared for the change. You can say the same thing as you look back on the times of going to the football game, hunting event, or to the outside birthday party. Things change and the weather is one thing we are used to here in the Bible belt. Things change in our lives as well, and at times we are never prepared for them. One day you can be leaving for work with big plans for supper only to find yourself in the emergency room at the hospital. Things change and we must be prepared to be flexible and adjust to change. This weekend we will experience a change in the time as we fall back in our clocks one hour. We also see a change in the length of daylight as we move to shorter days. Friends and family, in the midst of all the change around us, I read in God’s Word that “Jesus is the same Yesterday, Today, and Forever,” Hebrews 13:8. Thank God today that he is our Solid Rock upon which we stand. Amen! Please remember this month is our shoe box ministry and the goal is 300 boxes. I challenge you to grab your children, grandchildren, and friends to have your own packing party to share the love of Jesus with a child. We have had a very busy month and we hope to thank all those that took part some way to participate in all the events of GMBC. The work days were a success and we say thank you to all who helped paint, trim trees, and cleanup the beds. The Lord is working in the life of his church so get involved and give him more than lip service. “GIVE HIM HEART SERVICE.” He desires your heart more than anything. The fall festival was a success and special thanks goes out to Mrs. D’Alice, Mrs. Barbara, Mrs. Shirley, and Mrs. Frances. Y’all put your best foot forward and God was honored. Thanks again!! Many of you have fallen away from Sunday night worship and Wednesday night attendance. I challenge you to keep your priorities in line and don’t let Satan get a foothold in your commitment to the Lord. Up coming events! 1. Coming up—Bro. This year has simply flown by, Here it is Thanksgiving already and soon it will be Christmas. My, how time is flying by! Well, we had three of our young adults audition for the Mississippi Baptist All State Youth Choir last month and we are anxiously awaiting the results. The choir should be chosen around Thanksgiving if everything goes according to plan. The choir is busy working on the Christmas program which will be presented Sunday, December 22, 2013, at 4:00 in the afternoon. This will be our Evening Service so invite everyone you know to come and enjoy the sound of Christmas and the love of a Savior. We will also enjoy a fingerfood fellowship immediately following the performance. The Children’s Choir is very busy working on “We Three Spies.” Starting this Sunday, November 10, 2013, we will be meeting 30 minutes earlier in order to get some extra practice time. So Choir will be from 4:30 to 5:30 from now until December 8th when we will present the musical. Again this musical will be presented at 4:00 PM and will be followed by a finger-food fellowship as well. This musical will also take the place of our Evening Worship service as in previous years. Let me take a moment to thank all of our Veterans as well as those currently serving in our Armed Forces. As Veteran's Day approaches, let none of us dare forget the sacrifices of our brave men and women and the ongoing struggle so many are still having after returning from combat. We are and will always be indebted to these brave soldiers who have given so much so we can enjoy so much. Singing His praises, Steve Frederick BEGINNING FLORAL DESIGN CLASS Have you ever thought about arranging flowers for your home, church, or office? Andy Fullington-speaker A Message from Your Student Pastor October has come and gone! This time of year is busy for everyone including your Youth. We went to “The Judgment House” on Wednesday, October 30, at Clear Branch Baptist Church in Wesson. It was remarkably well done and really gave our students and adults a live look at the consequences of poor choices. I coined a phrase many years ago “Life is a series of choices.” That was very evident and I believe it had a profound effect on our students. Friday night, November 1, we went out to eat and then went bowling as a group. We had a great time getting to know each other better and enjoying some friendly competition. As we look ahead, We have our Youth Christmas Party at the Bewley’s home on Dec 11 at 6:30 pm. As usual, we will play Dirty Santa and also have a contest for the Tackiest Christmas Sweater so start raiding the local Goodwill for your winning entry!
