Maxx stores open in Auburn and Worcester, MA. 1987 Zayre Corp. forms a new entity called The TJX Companies, Inc. (Ben Cammarata is also named President of TJX.) 1976 Ben Cammarata, VP & GMM at Marshalls, was hired by Zayre Corp. to start up a new off-price chain called T.J.Maxx. 1983 Carol Meyrowitz joins Hit or Miss as a Buyer. 1990 T.J. Maxx acquires its first international chain, Winners of Canada, which was operating 5 stores at the time. 1992 HomeGoods is established, opening its first store in Milford, MA. 1994 T.K. Maxx is established in Europe and opens its first store in Bristol, U.K. TJX Through the Years 1995 TJX acquires their biggest competitor, Marshalls. (Marshalls and T.J. Maxx HO and BO Associates are combined into one company called The Marmaxx Group.) 2010 TJX consolidates the 2001 AJWright brand, HomeSense launches converting 91 2007 in Canada. AJWright locations to Carol Meyrowitz is other TJX banners. named President & (Also, TJX hits $20 Billion and the “Maxxinista Bride” CEO of TJX. gets married in the shoe aisle in the Mt. Pleasant, MI T.J. Maxx.) 1998 AJWright was established as another off-price retailer to serve a different demographic customer base. 2003 Bob’s Stores is 2008 acquired. (Also, the first Marshalls Shoe TJX Europe opens HomeSense. Mega Shop is opened.) 2011 Marshalls opens in Canada. 2013 TJX acquires Sierra Trading Post.
