TJX operates four major divisions: The Marmaxx Group (T.J.Maxx and Marshalls) and HomeGoods in the United States; TJX Canada (Winners, HomeSense and Marshalls); and TJX Europe (T.K. We are proud of the heritage that comes from over 30 years’ retailing experience in the States and, even though we continue to grow, our off-price business model of no-frills stores combined with opportunistic buying stays the same. Put simply GLOBALLY WE OPERATE AROUND 2900 STORES ACROSS 6 COUNTRIES WITH 170,000 ASSOCIATES – it’s all about brand, fashion, quality and price. TJX Europe is a growth vehicle for The TJX Companies, Inc. and we continue to have enormous growth opportunities in Europe. Since 2008 we have partnered with Save the Children to build classrooms for 10,000 children in 12 remote communities. We are now raising more funds to partner with the community to build more classrooms, deliver more materials and teaching support the aim of reaching 90% children by 2013. Our internal Trading Standards team make sure that products we buy have been manufactured and shipped in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. If we do happen to find a product that does not fulfil all the criteria, we ensure the item is immediately removed. We have developed a very exciting sustainable trade strategy to help alleviate poverty and encourage economic development in the communities.. We are, sourcing products from the Ugandan school communities to sell in our stores. We are giving the communities wider access to regional and international markets to promote trade, provide skills and employment and in turn achieve long term improvement to lives of the communities. Our buyers are always looking to source more organic and Fairtrade cotton clothing for our stores. In fact, our Comic Relief 2009 and 2011 t-shirts were 100% Fairtrade certified organic cotton. We love clothes, but we don’t’ like fur. Since 2003 we’ve banned all real fur products from our stores. ENVIRONMENT We are committed to being environmentally responsible and have a sustainable plan that is working towards reducing our impact on the environment. We have a strong environmental programme, with a focus on carbon reduction; since 2006 we have reduced our carbon footprint by 26% relative to the number of employees and by 38% relative to floorspace. In addition, we were the 200th company to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard Accreditation, recognising our consistent efforts to reduce our carbon footprint. 8799_GradPack_Broucher_V4_AW placement 06/08/12 7/10/12 2:54 PM XX XX A5 example text cyan XX 1 magenta yellow black 20 Our waste, energy and water monitoring programme, integrating energy efficiencies into store design and our award-winning innovative distribution strategy have all helped us achieve our significant carbon footprint reduction.
