IDENTITY THEFT PREVENTION MEETS RETAIL CONVENIENCE AT DUTHLER’S
First Ever Self-Pay Disposal Station for Sensitive Information
Comes To Grand Rapids
Grand Rapids, MI – September 18, 2006 – ShredStation, a document destruction company, today announced its
partnership with Duthler’s, a locally-owned grocery chain serving the Grand Rapids region. As a result of the
agreement, Duthler’s customers at both the downtown Grand Rapids and Wyoming locations will have access to
a ShredStation Secure Information Disposal Station to deposit sensitive documents that could otherwise be used
to promote identity theft. Additional Duthler’s locations may receive ShredStation boxes over the next
several months.
“Michigan has the 12th highest per-capita rate of identity
theft complaints in the nation,” said Al Villamil, President,
ShredStation. “No one is immune to this rapidly growing
crime and until now, there have been very few solutions.
We’re happy to be working with Duthler’s to help bring a new tool in the fight against ID theft to customers in
Grand Rapids.”
ShredStation boxes are fully automated, self-diagnostic and totally secure. They are made of reinforced steel
and stand at just over four feet tall –similar in design to a FedEx or DHL package drop box.
“Identity theft is a problem that is not going away,” said David Duthler, owner of Duthler’s Grocery. “The
ShredStation boxes offer our customers a safe, secure, and convenient way to protect themselves against this
terrible and life-changing crime.”
ShredStation box materials will be destroyed by a local document destruction agency.
How a ShredStation Transaction Works:
1. The customer seals all sensitive information to be shredded inside a secure ShredStation envelope (available
at retail unit). The envelope is capable of holding up to two pounds of material.
2. The customer places sealed envelope in ShredStation deposit box and swipes a credit or debit card in card
reader on the machine. Each deposit costs $5.
3. The transaction ID number on the receipt is automatically registered on the ShredStation website. Customers
receive notification via text message or email of exact time of document destruction.

4. ShredStation deposit box automatically notifies the local document destruction company to schedule on site
destruction of contents.
5. ShredStation Licensed Agents removes and shreds contents on site using industrial cross cut mobile shredding trucks, capable of hauling tons of crushed shredded waste paper. All licensed agents are required to pass
the same background and clearance checks as FBI agents. All contents are pulped and recycled according to
professional standards.
ShredStation boxes are being installed in a variety of retail locations throughout the country including banks,
pharmacies, grocery stores and office buildings. More than 500 ShredStation units are currently being rolled
out to 10 markets throughout the country. The company plans to expand to more than 150 markets by the end
of 2006.
