We all come from different walks of life and experiences; together we are all truly a great family of community members. As a family we work together for our students. Our priorities are keeping our students safe and providing a great education that will benefit our students for a lifetime. We have various activities, clubs and resources to help ensure we educate the whole child and make education fun and beneficial for any student to participate. Trailside Panthers are recognized for their benchmark achievement and quarterly grades. Panthers are also rewarded quarterly for their outstanding behavior and attendance. Events include picnics in the park, pizza days, movies in the gym, and various field trips. Trailside Point is a cohesive learning environment in which students follow the Panther P.A.C.T. (Personal Best, Accountable, Critical Thinker, Tolerant) creating a positive student-centered environment. Trailside Point was recognized by the Arizona Anti-Defamation League as a No Place for Hate school. Our students commit themselves to appreciating diversity, promoting inclusion, and showing respect for others. We thank you for allowing us the opportunity of being a part of your child’s education and look forward to working together in your child’s success. — MISSION — Our mission through the support of family, school staff, and the community is to create a safe and positive learning environment that is conducive to academic excellence, developmental growth, and citizenship to empower lifelong learners. — VISION — To facilitate and support academic and social excellence. — ACCOMPLISHMENTS— The Arizona Educational Foundation A+ School of Excellence, 2014-2017 PBISaz PBIS Gold Achievement Award, 2015 The Rodel Foundation of Arizona Rodel Aspiring Principal, 2015 Trailside Point School Panther P.A.C.T. Personal Best ● Accountable ● Critical Thinker ● Tolerant Core curriculum MATH ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS TECHNOLOGY Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards require students to demonstrate a deep understanding of math and develop strong critical thinking skills. Laveen recently adopted new curriculum for mathematics, which will be in full use beginning in the 2014-2015 school year. This includes McGrawHill’s My Math for Grades K-5 and Glencoe Mathematics for Grades 6-8. These programs are aligned to our new state standards and have a digital platform giving students the ability to access resources, activities, and other online tools. Advanced coursework including high school level algebra is offered at all schools. Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards for English Language Arts call for an integrated approach to teaching reading, writing, language, speaking and listening. We strive to promote literacy across all of our content areas, exposing students to a rich balance of fiction and nonfiction texts. Students read selections from a wide range of text types and integrate research, writing and media skills through the use of student technology devices. Recently adopted curriculum includes McGraw-Hill’s Reading Wonders for Grades K-3 and Pearson’s Reading Street for Grades 4 and 5 and Common Core Literature for Grades 6-8. One of the Laveen District’s goals is to accelerate the use of technology to support student achievement by providing a 2:1 student to device ratio and by providing resources and training to integrate technology into curriculum and instruction by 2015. Much of our current technology for student learning was funded by the capital override passed by Laveen voters in 2012. Each of our campuses has classroom sets of student devices in every grade level, consisting of iPads or Chromebooks. All students have a computer user account, which can be accessed from both school and at home to share documents and projects with other classmates and the teacher. District offered programs BEFORE/ AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS SPECIAL EDUCATION The Kids Klub program offers carefully planned, well-supervised activities for children in grades kindergarten through sixth.
