Zeta Phi Chapter 3|Page On Monday, April 20, 2015, the Men of Zeta Phi Chapter in partnership with the Indianapolis Uplift Foundation sponsored 30 boys from the Boys II Men and New Boy Mentoring programs to attend the Steward Speaker Lecture Series feature guest lecturer Bro. Steve Harvey. For more than 29 years, Steward Speakers has been dedicated to enhancing the community by providing opportunities to engage with America’s best leaders and brightest luminaries. The speaker series provides an educational experience to young people, families, indigent and the adult learner who normally would not receive the opportunity to attend such events. Steward Speakers showcases lecturers of national and local prominence. Recently, the 2015 Neophytes of Zeta Phi Chapter also known as the 7 Auspicious Sons of Omega wasted no time getting down to service by partnering with the Indianapolis Uplift Foundation to provide shirts and ties for 10 young men at Arsenal Technical High School to attend the 2015 National Council of Educating Black Children Youth Summit which took place on Wednesday, April 15th. The mission of the National Council on Educating Black Children is to reinstate academic rigor and relevant teaching, improve the assessment of such instruction, and prepare the AfricanAmerican learner for effective participation in a competitive global society. This youth summit drew over 200 young black males from schools in and around the Indianapolis area. The NCEBC reached out to the several organizations to sponsor shirts and ties for each school that was to participate in the summit. As usual, the men of Omega took the lead and were one of the first groups to step up and sponsor a school. Thanks to the Leadership of Brother Veaon Shelton (Zeta Phi 2012) and neophyte Sol Stephens (Zeta Phi 2015) as well as the support from Indianapolis Uplift Foundation President, Brother Daniel Pierson (Pi Beta 1976) the task was completed. Cesar Johnson Chi Sigma Chapter Brother. Duane Miller Upsilon Kappa Kappa Condolences to Brother Victor Bailey on the loss of his mother Mrs. Thelma L. Bailey. Condolences to Brother Mickey Plunkett on the loss of his mother Mrs. Dianne C. Taylor. Brothers, please know your pain is our pain, your loss is our loss. Please know that we love you and are in strong prayer for your family during this time. Brother’s as we celebrate 90 years we must ask ourselves, where will our beloved chapter be 10 years from now when we celebrate 100 years. Will there be a fifth and sixth Grand Basileus from the Zeta Phi Chapter? Will we continue to be represented at every Conclave? What will the face of the Zeta Phi Chapter look like in 2025? These are all questions we must answer here and now. There is a great amount of work still to be done and there is no time to slow down or ease off the gas. Live everyday Auspicious and shine the Light of Omega in all that you do. Thank You for allowing me to serve, Chapter Recorder Brother C.O.
