NEWSLETTER 9834 Hidden Valley Drive NW • 403-274-8955 • [email protected] • www.fathersheartprojects.org Bringing hope and a better future to women and children in third-world and developing nations…as we serve in alignment with The Father’s Heart. From the President’s desk We at FHP are more than pleased to connect once again with our friends and supporters who have supported us since our beginning some 8 years ago. So many good things have happened over that time that we are so thankful for. We are surely looking forward to the final completion day for our FHP Primary School Compound. We are hoping that by the 2013 year end the necessary funds will enable us to do so. We also believe that through various new initiatives through the coming year that our primary school will be self-sustainable by the end of 2014 which will enable them to stand on their own. We are proud to say that this will provide the hopes and dreams of up to 500 underprivileged children to realize some of the same dreams of our own children here at home. Merry Christmas On behalf of Father’s Heart Projects Foundation. We wish you a Blessed Christmas Season and a very Happy New Year! Thank you for your continued prayers and financial support. In His Service Paul Miles and The FHP Board of Directors Calgary, Canada Pastor Jasper Nyaboga and Team with the orphans, widows and the FHP School Kisumu, Kenya Noteworthy: The Board of Directors would like to announce there will be a contribution increase to the Orphans. Effective January 2014, contributions will be revised to $40.00 for all donators. New subscribers who are already contributing at this level will not be affected. One of the things our children say is, “The highlight of our day is to go to school” since our teachers and staff are so committed to being a part of their overall current and future development. A recent report from the local Kisumu Board of Education has rated us one of the highest scholastic standings in the entire region. The majority of our child sponsored children also are enrolled at our school and the support of our sponsors continues to provide for their education and personal needs such as medical, food, clothing and a safe environment in the homes they reside in. The majority of all the children would never be able to go to school and their cycle of poverty would never be broken and they would face a very stark hopeless future. We are hoping that by the end of this year, those of you that are able to will help FHP meet our year-end goal of raising $100,000, which will complete the construction of the entire school compound and also meet our 2013 shortfall. Any financial support can be donated on line or returned by the included card enclosed. From the bottom of our hearts, our children, national staff, volunteers and I would like to thank you for your prayers and support for becoming the reality of a changed future for those unable to help themselves. FATHER’S HEART PROJECTS FOUNDATION Paul Miles PRESIDENT 2013 and Beyond, Growth of the Dream It takes a dream which then requires courage and fortitude to allow the dream to turn into reality. FHP was a dream that developed in Paul and Jackie Miles’s hearts. The dream grew into reality and was shared with close friends with a similar heart. In 2013 the dream has matured to a new reality. The year was spent redeveloping our foundation which included the website and integrating into the world of social media. This gives FHP the ability to expand the circle of dedicated supporters from close friends to the whole world of like minded people. People that want to get involved with a cause that gives meaning and purpose to improve the lives of the underprivileged. We ask, who are the underprivileged? They are the ones whose voice has been taken away by their surrounding circumstances and have no chance of changing their situation without the help of Others. We are those, called Others, the silent majority, whose hearts are breaking, hearts with passion, looking for opportunities of significance, and that have the ability to make a significant difference in those lives, that are waiting and hoping for a change in their lives. All these attributes are brought together in the Mission of FHP and allow us together to envision the dramatic impact FHP can have today and in the future. We also need to celebrate the past and the faithfulness of the Partners and God’s grace. We look forward to the coming year 2014, with the completion of the school and creating more sustainability with farming and water at the FHP school. You are welcome to partner, share your own dream with FHP and bring it to fruition. Quoting Pastor Jasper “ in doing Our part, we are the answer to the prayers of the widows and orphans in Kisumu and beyond” . Partner with us, with people resources and financially. FHP may the catalyst to put your own dream into reality. Join with us on the journey, Respectfully Harry Wollin – Board of Directors To God Be the Glory Each experience we had, whether in the villages or at the medical camps we saw the devastation of HIV and the cycle of poverty. We were told many times, the only way out for the young is to have an education. The public schools here in Kenya have an average of 90 children in each classroom and the conditions are deplorable. This is why the ministry of Father’s Heart School is so important. With smaller class sizes, a high standard of teaching and faith in God, the children who attend have an opportunity to break free from their plight of extreme poverty. HeadMaster Daniel are men of strong faith and compassion. Their love and care for the children is beyond words. We were all so impressed by their intregity and humble gracious way with the children and their families. They are change makers and Fathers Heart School Projects is very blessed to have them as leaders. They give the children hope and a solid foundation to build their lives on. We are praying that God will open doors to supply all the needs of the school as it too continues to grow. As they would say…. To God Be the Glory Blessings in Christ Warren and Sue Julien Summerland Baptist Church We were told the story of a young boy who was coming to Father’s Heart School but his family was so poor, he was not getting enough food to eat. So he left the village and went to live a life of crime and drugs on the street in Kisumu, in hope of getting more to eat than he had at home. The teachers at FH School searched until they found him and brought him back with the promise of making sure he would have enough to eat. The children receive a breakfast and lunch but ensured he would have dinner each day as well. This is the teachers’ faith in action, living out the love and grace of Christ in the community.
