May 2013
BULLETIN
Number 32 - May 2013
May 18 is HIV Vaccine Awareness Day and despite the lack of
an vaccine that would prevent HIV, this day is an opportunity to recognize the efforts that the international community has made.
The Asociación Civil Impacta forms part of this world effort
and in recognition of this day, it will visit the institutions
Peruano Aleman and Santa Rosa on May 6, 23, and 29 to
talk about advances made in finding a vaccine that
prevents HIV/AIDS.
The contribution of the participants in the clinical vaccine
trials is the essential piece for the development and
research of the HIV vaccine.
More than 34,000 volunteers in 17 countries have participated in some vaccine study, of which almost 1,000 volunteers have been Peruvian.
Around 42 research studies have been developed or are
planned to be implemented during this this year and are
expected to function as vaccines to prevent HIV/AIDS.
This shows the enormous interest and effort that exists in
the international community to achieve this objective. The
large number of studies not only reflects the diversity and
dynamism of research in actuality, but also reflects the
long journey of finding an effective vaccine.
A vaccine offers hope for future generations.

Impacta's Super Heroes Tour
We visited the Casa Comunitaria Voluntades
with the goal of strengthening ties between
the community houses through activities
and developed activities such as the playful
dynamic in "itches" in order to interact with
attendees.
We participated as representatives of our
institution in the interfaith gathering
organized in recognition of the International Vigil for those who have died as a result
of AIDS.
The tour took place in the nightclubs Vale
Todo, La Cueva, Sagitario, Paris and the bar
La Jarrita, and was accompanied by the
choreography of ballerinas and Drag
Queens.
Candlelight is a ceremony of light that since
1983 happens on the third sunday of May in
115 countries.
The goal was to establish a link between the
public and encourage participants to get
tested for HIV and seek treatment and
prevention. In order to do this, participants
received informational material about
Exa-Man, Retrox and Gellux.
We spoke about "Acute Infection Syndrome" and then promoted information about
our social networks and invited participants
to follow us on our Facebook pages.
We ended by distributing our expo material
and brochures of our heroes EXA-MAN and
GELLUX afterwards in a prize raffle to
participants.
The event featured a program by Mr.
Charles Gallagher, who oversaw the gathering along with other representative coordinators. At the end of the candle ceremony,
we ended with a farewell of balloons in
front of the church.
