Located just one hour south of Paris, the vineyards of Yonne in
Burgundy have an abundance of surprises in store for you.
Discover charming villages which have maintained their typical
wine-growing architecture, and enjoy the delicate flavours of
wines from five wine-growing areas: Chablis, Auxerrois, Joigny,
Tonnerrois and Vézelien.
Throughout the year, wine-growers here welcome you to their estates. They are delighted to share their passion and reveal a taste
of their best wines to you in a friendly atmosphere. To assist you
in your choice of destination and activities, the Yonne area offers
a selection of 90 establishments with the Vignobles & Découvertes (Wines & Discoveries) label. These are located in the winegrowing region of Auxerrois, which is the oldest in the area; and
that of Chablis, which produces one of the most renowned white
wines in the world.

Château de Béru
The Château de Béru is in the middle of
the vineyards, facing one of the most
charming hillsides of the Chablis vineyard,
in the village of Béru. This castle was built
in the 13th and belongs to the Count of
Béru since 1627.

The archaeological site of Escolives is located in the
heart of the oldest vineyard known in the Auxerrois
area ; it’s thanks to the archaeological excavations
conducted in this site that was find a 2d century
sculptural reliefs figuring a grape picker.

« Le voyageur » makes you discover the city’s
picturesque districts and its prestigious monuments, aboard a battery-driven vehicle of seven
seats. The forty-five minute tour is commented
in French and in English on audio-guides.
The Saint Germain abbey is an important touristic
destination in Auxerre, since it dates back to the
15th century. Installed within the Abbey, the Saint
Germain museum shelters the prehistoric, GalloRoman and medieval collections of the city. This
museum guides the visitors through the rooms that
used to be used by the monks.

L’Obédiencerie de Chablis
Classified as a historical monument, the
Obédiencerie is a former monastery founded
by the monks of St Martin of Tours, and is
situated right next to collegiate church of
St Martin. This large building has the oldest
wine ageing cellars in Chablis, dating from
the 9th and 12th centuries. It is where the
most prestigious wines of the Domaine
Laroche go through vinification and ageing.
An old wine-press from the 13th century is
displayed in one of the rooms.

This estate is the fruit of three generations

the cellar to taste the typical wines of the
Coulanges-la-Vineuse AOC.
This family wine estate is built around a fortified
farm constructed between the 5th and 17th centuries. The establishment offers self-catering accommodation, bed-and-breakfast rooms, Burgundystyle meals and various tasting programmes.
In this estate at the heart of Chitry, the three emblematic varieties of Burgundy grapes are grown: Chardonnay, Aligoté and Pinot noir. The wine-making
process has remained as natural as possible.
The Bersan family has lived in SaintBris-le-Vineux for many generations.
Their solid family traditions have
enabled their wine-making expertise to be passed down through the
generations and to remain intact.
