1970 TR6 55881CC $13,500 - the Red River Triumph Club
1970 TR6 55881CC $13,500 Much work has been done to restore this vehicle. I saved most of the receipts and they are available with the car. The car has been in storage since February 2014. The battery was replaced just before placing in storage. I am living out of the country and will not return for several years. The car deserves to be finished and enjoyed by someone who will appreciate her. It is with reluctance that I must sell her. The car had not been started since being placed in storage in 2014. On March 1, 2016, I drained the gas and replaced the fuel filter. The gas was old and very dirty, and it had clogged the filter. With new gas, the car started readily, although it ran roughly. The carbs definitely need tuning. I drove the car a short distance, took some pictures, and put it back in storage. The engine smoothed out as it warmed up. Several years ago the engine had a valve keeper fail, resulting in a dropped valve and shattered piston. This required professional machine work to repair the head and engine. While the engine was out, I decided to rebuild the gearbox, front suspension, and paint the car. Below are some of the tasks that were completed. This is far from a complete list, but it will serve to give you an idea of the work that has been completed. After the damage from the dropped valve, the head was professionally repaired including a new custom valve guide and new seats. Pistons were balanced, the crankshaft ground 0.010, and the cylinders bored 0.020. The cam was reground and the harmonic balancer rebuilt. Timing gears and chain were replaced. Oil and fuel pumps were replaced and a spin-on oil filter adapter was installed. Rockers and shaft were replaced. The body was beautifully repaired and painted the original Jasmine by Master Europa in 2010. This was an extensive restoration and the cost of the painting and repair was $7600. All rusted panels were replaced (battery tray, left hand sill). The hardtop was painted at the same time, but has not been restored. Original glass for the hardtop was removed for painting, and is in good shape and in a box. The transmission was rebuilt and a Gunst clutch installed Front suspension rebuilt using Roadster Factory Magic Kit and new springs and shocks. Rubber seals for the bonnet, boot, windscreen, doors, etc. have all been replaced. Clutch master cylinder and brake servo replaced Rear lever action shocks rebuilt and many parts replaced. Things that need to be completed The interior and convertible top need to be reinstalled. The driver’s side door panel and other pieces are in good to fair condition and are in the car. Many new parts purchased but not installed (felt under carpet padding, door and window handles, etc,). The wiring under the dash is hanging loose and needs to be reinstalled. The tach cable has not been connected, but I do not remember why not. The ignition switch has been disconnected, and should probably be replaced. The carb choke cable was frozen and I could not choke the carbs. Luckily it was warm outside, and the engine started despite no choke. The windshield washer and wipers need to be reinstalled. There is a radio antenna, but I have never had a radio installed. The missing trim around the headlight is in a box along with other parts. Pictures: You can see some spare parts in the boot, and there are more boxes of parts that are not shown. We removed them for the pictures. The engine was removed and bay completely cleared out for painting. Hardtop still has paper on it from painting. Glass is in a box with the rest of the parts.
