The Texas 4-H Opportunity Scholarship program awards more than 2 million dollars each year. Good luck goes out to Kelly Boening and Hanna Siptak as they interview for the Texas 4-H Scholarship. The 4-H Clover is very special. It is in the same category as the Presidential Seal and Olympic Rings. Are you looking for something fun and educational to do this summer. How about 4-H Camps. The following camps will be offered this summer: June 2 County Camp Hawaiian Falls June 15-17 Kids in the Kitchen July 20-21 Photography Camp July 22-24 Wildlife and Fish Camp August 4-5 Clothing Camp More information can be found in the attached brochures. Registration forms can be picked up at the Extension Office. Recordbooks and Award Interviews RECORDBOOKS It is that time of year again… 4-H Recordbooks. You can find all the information, instructions and word documents at http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/ youth_recordbooks/. 4hreports will go offline in October so if you need to retrieve and save anything make sure you do it asap. Recordbooks are due June 5 by 5pm at the Extension Office. This year you may again turn in the alternative recordbook. It is a simple version of the 4-H Recordbook. Reminder, if you showed at this year’s local stock shows and want to show next year, you must turn in a recrodbook (stock show rule NOT 4-H rule). COUNTY AWARD APPLICATIONS County 4-H Awards include Gold Star, Silver Star, I Dare You Awards, as well as Outstanding Intermediate and Junior Awards. The applications are available at the Extension office and were emailed as well. To be considered for the awards, junior, intermediate, and senior youth must complete the application and an official 4-H Recordbook and return it to the CEO by Friday, June 5. Star Award Interviews will be July 6. Winners will be announced at the 4-H Banquet in August. SOME Major Show premium, floor and auction checks are available. 4-H NEWSLETTER Major Show Major Show Steer Validation will take place on June 15, from 4-6 pm at the Fayette County Vet Clinic. If you have not ordered tags, late tag orders are due May 29 and are $25 each. All exhibitors and parents must be present during validation. The deadline to register for the District Horse Show via 4-H Connect is May 29. Team members consisted of Erin Supak, Gretchen Kuck and Hannah Garlick. Individually, Erin was 2nd and Gretchen was 7th. Individually Ashlynn was high point intermediate individual. The junior team placed 1st overall. Team members consisted of Mackenzie Poncik, Austin Nedbalek, Karson Corn and Jordan The intermediate team placed 4th Stanley. Individually, Jordan overall. Team members consisted of was 2nd, Austin was 6th and Ashlynn Golan, Marley Grimes, Abbey Mackenzie was 8th. Nedbalek and Becca Wagner. Katy Shank judged as an individual. District Livestock Judging Fayette County 4-H members competed at the District 11 Livestock Judging Contest on April 25, 2015 at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. In the Senior Division, Haley Bertsch was 9th overall and Hannah Garlick was 22nd. In the Intermediate Division, Emily Fritsch was high point individual. In the Junior Division, Karli Siptak was 2nd and Rachel Matocha was 11th overall. District Horse Judging On Saturday, April 11th, fourteen Fayette County 4-H members participated in the District 11 4-H Horse Judging Contest in College Station. The Senior Team # 1 placed 1st overall and will advance to Texas 4 -H Roundup in June at Texas A & M University in College Station. Team members consisted of Kaycie Kelly, Emily Eindorf, Faith Hanacek and Garrett Kallus. Individually, Kaycie was 2nd, Emily was 3rd, Faith was 4th and Garrett was 7th. was Sarah Vecera and she was 8th overall. The Senior Team #2 placed 2nd overall and will advance to Texas 4-H Roundup in June at Texas A & M University in College Station. Team members consisted of Bryn Stryk, Rylee Proske, Clayton Lyons and Maddie Bullen. Individually, Bryn was high point senior, Rylee was 5th, Clayton was 6th and Maddie was 9th. Judging as an The Intermediate Team placed 1st overall. Team members consisted of Lauren Kosler, Karlee Kelly and Kyndahl Kelly. Individually Lauren was 2nd, Karlee was 3rd, and Kyndahl was 4th. Judging as juniors were Maddie Mach and Kerina Kelly. Individually Maddie was 2nd and Kerina was 3rd. 5 PAGE 6 Scholarship Fundraiser The 6th Annual Fayette County 4-H Scholarship Fundraiser will take place on June 4th. It will be a drive-thru Chicken Spaghetti Meal from 4-6 pm. The meal will consist of Chicken Spaghetti, Salad, Green Beans and Garlic Bread, all for $8.50 each. All proceeds will benefit the graduating 4-H Seniors. ALL 4-H members are asked to help sell tickets and provide a bake sale item for the free will bake sale. Tickets are available now. Koopman Catering will be catering the meal. Cakes and Cookies EEA Salad Luncheon.. Thanks to those who donated a cake. FEC Annual Meeting.. Mark your calendar for the FEC Annual Meeting on July 15. In the Educational Presentations senior competition, Kaycie Kelly placed 1st place in the senior horse category and Erin Supak and Gretchen Kuck placed 1st in the Open Family Consumer Science category. Both educational presentations will advance to State Roundup in June. In the Educational Presentations intermediate competition, Kyndahl and Karlee Kelly placed 1st in the intermediate horse category. In the Fashion Storyboard Category, Austin Nedbalek placed 1st in the junior accessory category. Don’t forget about the invitational contests such as livestock, poultry and photography judging. Photography Contest The TAE4-HA District 5 association is hosting a photography contest. Using the state category's. Cost is $10 for the first photo and $1 for each additional photo per individual. All photos must be received by the District IV Photography Committee Chairman by May 29 (additional information can be emailed out if interested in competing). Leadership Lab District 11 Leadership Lab will take place on June 22-24 at the Alto Frio. The deadline to sign up via 4-H Connect is June 5. Transportation will be provided. Lots of great outdoor activities planned. Check your email for more information. Texas 4-H Shotgun Camp Shooting Sports members with intermediate shotgun experience and skill. Held at the Boswell-Porter 4-H Shotgun Range in Snook on June 10-13. 11-16 years Registration is open to 30 youth and registration must be submitted on 4-H Connect. This is an educational event for future leaders of the cattle feeding industry.
