Montgomery is the perfect Georgian
setting to make your big day a perfect one.
Whether you are looking to have a smaller, more intimate
ceremony, or a larger celebration we can cater for all your
needs, both on the day and beyond so that you and your
guests can enjoy a truly memorable occasion.
We have two venues to choose from. For larger weddings, we
have the splendour of Montgomery’s Georgian Town Hall.
For smaller occasions, you can choose the elegant, warm
atmosphere of the 17th Century Dragon Hotel, just across
the Market Square behind the Town Hall.

the wonderful menus created by the Dragon’s talented
Bistro 7 team – for both your wedding day and for meals
throughout your stay.

The TOWN
Georgian Gem of The Marches
Montgomery, located in beautiful Mid Wales and close to Offa’s Dyke,
is the perfect little Georgian town for you to have your perfect day.
For your family and friends, it provides a perfect backdrop for your very
special event, and gives them an opportunity to catch up in beautiful
surroundings, both before, during and after the wedding.
The VENUES
Montgomery Town Hall
Montgomery Town Hall, built in 1748, has been
a Market Hall, Courthouse and a meeting place
for the local community. It has seen over two
centuries of comings and goings – both grand
and humble.
It is a fine example of Georgian architecture
and has a large ballroom on its upper floor.
This has been restored recently and boasts a
fine refurbished wooden sprung dance floor.
On the first floor of the Town Hall there is a
full bar, which is run by The Dragon Hotel.
It can be stocked with many different types of
drinks to meet your needs. This is something
you can discuss with the Dragon Hotel. Also,
see the drinks packages on page 8.
Recently, a stair-lift has been installed to
connect the lower and upper floors for those
guests who may need assistance.
The Dragon Hotel
The Dragon Hotel is situated in the heart of
Montgomery, behind the Town Hall and square.
The hotel dates back to the 17th Century and
has bags of quirky charm. The hotel’s Bar and
Den have been refurbished over recent months.
Premium rooms, including the Bridal Suite,
have also been redecorated recently.
You will always find the staff very friendly
and ready to help.
The hotel food is provided by the renowned
Bistro 7 team, having a much-deserved
reputation for tasty, excellent food, using local
ingredients wherever possible.
The hotel has its own swimming pool and for
those who wish to explore the surrounding
countryside and its beautiful views, directions
are available for local cycle routes and walks.
Bikes may be hired directly from the hotel.

The Ceremony
Those who live in – or have connections with –
Montgomery can choose to get married in the
lovely St Nicholas’ church in the town,
or at one of the local chapels.
For those who would like a civil ceremony,
these can be held in either The Dragon
Hotel, for up to 40 people in the Den, or in
Montgomery Town Hall for up to 150 people.
Both venues will have wedding licences, so your
ceremony can take place at either venue.
Stag& Hen Parties
The Dragon Hotel will cater for rooms for
well-behaved stag and hen parties of up to
20 people.
To hire the Den for a wedding at The Dragon
would cost £180.
Montgomery Town Hall and its various
facilities would need to be booked and hired
from Montgomery Town Council and the
cost will depend upon the number of hours
needed and the facilities being used. We can
also assist in providing further guidance on
this, as required.
We will work with your organisers to ensure
everybody has a great time in this friendly, lovely
hotel, with great food and drinks on offer.
Ideas could include:
• Mini fun triathlons, using our swimming pool,
hire bikes and nearby destinations!
• Minibus visit to recommended local
country pubs
Same-sex weddings and renewal of vows are
also extremely welcome.
We can provide further guidance on this
as required.

Family GET-TOGETHERS
Weddings are an opportunity for families to
meet up and swap stories, as these days, they
are all too often dispersed around the country
– and sometimes the world.
Increasingly, families like to book a separate
time for a family meal and get-together, either
the night before the wedding, or lunchtime
the day after.
The Dragon Hotel can put together a special,
bespoke family meal for you on one of these

Contact will need to be made with the
Registrar’s Office at Powys County Council to
book their services to carry out the wedding
ceremony itself. Registrar’s fees are separate
and payable directly to the Registrar.
• Wine tasting at local Kerry Vale vineyard
occasions. You can reserve their Den for an
exclusive private dining experience.
Brian, who heads up the Bistro 7 team of chefs,
combines both professionalism and a friendly
approach. He would be happy to sit down with
you and discuss your requirements.
There are 20 bedrooms in the hotel which
can accommodate family for both the wedding
evening and days either side, if required.

Accommodation For your wedding
The Bridal Suite
The Dragon Hotel has 20 bedrooms of various
standards and prices. The largest room –
Room 16, the Bridal Suite – will be dressed
to mark your special occasion, with flowers
and little special features for the day.
If you book a wedding with Montgomery
Weddings, where the total value of the booking
exceeds £2000, the Bridal Suite will be
provided free on the wedding day.
It can also be made available before the
wedding, as a base for the bride and
bridesmaids to prepare for the ceremony.
Premium Rooms
There are four recently-refurbished Premium
Rooms, at a cost of £109 per night for two
people, bed and breakfast.
Select Rooms
Additionally, a further four smaller Select
Rooms, which have recently been redecorated,
are available at a price of £89 per night for
two, bed and breakfast.
Other Rooms
A further 12 bedrooms are available. Some are
on the upper floor, with exposed beams and, in
some cases, a little bit of restricted headroom.
These are priced from between £59 and £79
per night, per room, bed and breakfast.
Our swimming pool is available free
for all hotel residents, but needs to
be booked by the hour.
Other Accommodation
If your party requires more rooms, we
can make recommendations and put you
in touch with nearby bed and breakfasts,
guest houses and hotels.
Wedding Planning
There is always a lot to do when getting
everything in place for your special day –
including the venue, table decorations,
flowers, guest transport, to mention a few.
If you are working to a budget, you may choose
to organise everything yourself. However, you
may prefer to hand over all of the organisation
to a Wedding Planner. Alternatively, you may
find you just need a little bit of help on the day.
Whatever your preference, we work closely
with a local Wedding Planner, Philippa, who has
a wonderful ‘touch’ in making your special day
just that little bit more special, with creative
touches and input. She has a wealth of local
contacts. If she is not available for your chosen
dates, we can put you in touch with another of
our trusted partners.
The cost of wedding planning depends upon
how much is required and the amount of
time involved. This is something you can talk
through with our wedding planners if you
decide this is the way you want to go.

Wedding Preparations
Links to Montgomery and
Other Local Businesses
At Montgomery Weddings, we have formed
close links with local businesses who can supply
all you need for your day, including wedding
dresses, flowers, hair and beauty treatments,
table decorations, wedding cakes, wedding
transport and gifts and vouchers for the
happy couple.
Photographs
Wedding photos are an important part of
your special day and the beautiful setting of
Montgomery, with its enviable surroundings,
lends itself to this perfectly.
There are a number of locations in and around
the town where wedding photos can be taken
with some beautiful backdrops, including the
stunning views at Montgomery Castle, up
on the hill just behind both the Town Hall
and The Dragon Hotel.
Larger group photos can be taken close to
the wedding venue and then transport can be
arranged for the bride, groom, key attendants
and family to the wedding photo location of
your choice.
At this point, other guests could pop over to
the Bar at The Dragon Hotel for drinks and
nibbles. We could also discuss providing a few
canapés if you wished.
We have contacts with a number of local
photographers and we will ensure that they
carry out your requirements for the day in full.

Your wedding day is your special day, so it
is important that you decide how you want
it. We will do everything we can to help you
make it your perfect day.
Whether you choose to have your wedding in
The Dragon Hotel or Montgomery Town Hall,
The Dragon Hotel and their excellent Bistro 7
team can create the perfect menu to suit you.
Their approach is relaxed and unpretentious,
whilst the service is always highly professional.
Whether you prefer a traditional wedding
breakfast, with your guests sitting down to a
two or three course meal, or something a little
different, the quality and flavour created by
the excellent Bistro 7 team, is sure to help in
making your special day, extra special!
For Montgomery Town Hall weddings, you
can, of course, decide to use your own caterers
if you prefer, but rest assured the Dragon
Hotel and Bistro 7 team can work with you
to achieve the perfect solution for you.
Food Options with
a Difference
Traditionally, food is served to guests twice
during the wedding day – once after the
wedding itself, for the daytime guests and then
again in the evening to help create that party
atmosphere when your evening guests arrive.
Increasingly, there has been a move away
from having a main meal immediately after
the wedding and towards having a more
bespoke, quirky alternative of food available
in the evening.
Of course, it is your choice, but we have set
out a few ideas on the following pages to help
you consider possible options. You can talk
them through with Brian, The Head Chef,
along with your ideas for the day and how
we can best deliver them.
A Flexible Approach
Brian and the Bistro 7 team will work with
you to create a menu to suit you. Naturally,
the more exotic your tastes, the more it is
likely to cost.
Vegetarian options will always be available and we
can accommodate all tastes, dietary requirements
and allergies.

as part of Montgomery Weddings, according to
your numbers on the day:
The Dragon Bistro
Dining Room
The Bistro Dining Room can accommodate up
to 45 guests exclusively, at any given time.
Two courses from £28 per head
Three courses from £33 per head
15% discount for Monday to Thursday
The Dragon Bistro Bar
This can accommodate up to 75 guests, but is
only available for food between 3pm and 7pm
Monday to Thursday.
Two courses from £26 per head
Three courses from £32 per head
Montgomery Town Hall
Available for food to be served upstairs up
to 120 guests seated at tables, any day of the
week, subject to availability.
The Dragon Bistro 7 team can provide catering
in Montgomery Town Hall for guest numbers
from 40 upwards.
Two courses from £29 per head
EVENING PARTIES
The Dragon Hotel can accommodate small
evening parties, of up to 40 people, with music
in the Dragon’s Den.
Montgomery Town Hall is a great venue for
an evening wedding party, even if you hold
the wedding ceremony and after-wedding
food elsewhere.
The Town Hall can accommodate up
to 180 guests for the evening.
The Bar is fully stocked and can provide
additional drinks if you wish. It has a licence
to remain open until 12.30am, with the Town
Hall to be vacated by 1am.
MUSIC
We have contact with a number of local bands
who can accommodate all ages and tastes. We
can also arrange a DJ for the evening – either
in addition to a band, or as an alternative.

Mezze food involves a number of different
plates being brought to the table for starters
and main meals. Everybody at the table can
then choose to have what they would like
from each of the dishes on offer.
Whether vintage, traditional or contemporary,
this option allows you to enjoy your afternoon
with family and friends in a relaxed atmosphere.
This includes tea and coffee, but the bar will
be open as well, either at The Dragon Hotel
or Montgomery Town Hall, depending upon
numbers and preference.
