Torridge Rough Sleeper Outreach Project:
“Living in B&B is pretty tough really, and I do get very
depressed at times. My drinking can get out of control,
I know. It’s hard to stay on track. Encompass SW have
always been my first port of call if I get confused or
frightened by things. They’ve got me registered with a
new doctor and are helping me to find a proper flat
away from the other drinkers.”
How are work is funded
All of our work is funded by both charitable trusts,
Local Authorities, Donations or fundraising events:
Over 55’s Outreach Advice Service:

funded by the John Paul Getty Charitable Trust, we
support the homeless and rough sleepers back into
suitable accommodation. We also provide food
parcels, tents, sleeping bags, travel warrants, and
help in completing forms and claiming benefits.

Streetwise Project:
Partnership Working
This project aims to provide an holistic
approach to the issues that are faced by those
living in smaller communities in rural locations.
Services include advice on debt & money
advice, welfare & benefits, fuel poverty and
signposting.
Streetwise is a joint partnership between North Devon
& Torridge Council and Encompass Southwest,
providing support to 16-18 year olds who are
potentially facing homelessness due to a number of
different issues, including abuse or domestic violence.

holistic approach to youth homelessness. Working

time of need.

In partnership with Young Devon, this project works
to “change the odds” in favour of young people aged
16-25 that are leaving the care system, helping them
to realise their dreams.
Funded by Comic Relief the project aims to
improve the quality of life and financial wellbeing of older people (55 +) living in rural and
remote North Devon by developing a network
of advice and support service outlets across the
area, guided and delivered by older people. The
project will focus on Lynton and Combe Martin
initially, we are hoping to expand its coverage.

‘Lynton & Lynmouth can become very isolated,
particularly in winter, and the costs of travel are
prohibitive. Many families just cannot journey to
Barnstaple to get support. Having access to
professional, practical help is vital. Encompass
has made a real difference to our community.”
