CARSONITE TUFF-FLEX UTILITY MARKER
The Tuff-Flex's special construction gives it the ability to flex greater than other markers
without breaking, yet remains rigid enough to be manually driven into hard soils. The
Tuff-Flex is designed for years of outstanding performance in harsh outdoor conditions.
Decals may be placed on both sides of the post. Available in a variety of colors. Decals
are printed directly to the marker allowing for greater weather resistant over traditional
stickers that peal and fade. Why settle for an inferior utility marker when you can have
the best on the market and pay less?
Material
Fiberglass reinforced composite. Each batch of posts goes through a rigorous testing
procedure prior to delivery (see Heat Resistance, Cold Resistance and Impact
Resistance below)
General Purpose
This product is designed as an identification marker for buried utility services. It is
designed for use in right-of-ways and for installations where vandalism and impact
resistance is of primary consideration. Tuff-Flex Markers work well in sub zero
temperatures where others fail.

Installation
Using a specialized driver tool (see Installation Tools below), posts are manually driven
to a depth of 18" (48" remains above surface).
Heat Resistance
Posts shall be conditioned a minimum of 1 hour in an oven at 140°F (± 3°F). The
conditioned post shall be capable of straightening itself within 5 seconds when bent 90°
at the midpoint for each of 4 bends. The test of each post shall be completed within 2
minutes of removal from the oven or environmental chamber.
Cold Resistance
Posts shall be conditioned a minimum of 2 hours at -40°F (± 3°F). The conditioned post
shall be capable of straightening itself within 5 seconds when bent 90° at the midpoint
for each of 4 bends. The test of each post shall be completed within 2 minutes of
removal from the environmental chamber.
Impact Resistance
The post shall be manufactured from an impact resistant composite and be so designed
that an installed post is capable of self erecting and remaining serviceable after being
subjected to a series of direct impacts by a typical passenger sedan. The posts shall be
tested complete with attached decals proposed for use. Posts shall be capable of
withstanding a series of 5 impacts head-on (90°) into traffic face of the post at a speed
of 35 mph, without displaying vertical cracks in the web section of the post or a loss in
legibility of the decal.
Colors/Decals
Tuff-Flex markers are available in White, Yellow, Brown, Orange, Red,
Green and Blue. Color is pigmented throughout the entire cross section to
help reduce fading from sun exposure. A black silk screened image of utility
type, company information and logo is included at no additional cost.
Multiple colors or dual-side decal application available for an additional fee.
