Application usage reporting – 1
Built-in granular reporting allows for traffic-usage data to be displayed according
to top applications on the network. Easily identify the top applications detected or
blocked according to category, timeline or initiator.

Web activity reporting
Easily view traffic usage statistics such as top websites visited. Drill-down reporting
allows for sorting of data according to granular details, such as site name, IP address,
website category and number of connections attempted.

Data usage reporting
Monitoring managed Dell SonicWALL appliances is a breeze with intuitive graphical
reports. Easily identify traffic anomalies based on usage data for a specific timeline,
initiator, responder or service. Export reports to Microsoft® Excel, PDF
or directly to a printer.

Threat reporting
Threat management comes standard with Analyzer and GMS; easily view the top threats
to the network by target, initiator or threat type. Comprehensive threat reporting, such
as Gateway Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention, are all included.

Universal dashboard
Context-sensitive dashboards display a variety of informational widgets, such as geographical maps, syslog
reports, bandwidth summaries, top websites accessed or the data that is most relevant to specific users.

Data flow activity
Realtime monitoring of IP data flows provide immediate GMS analytics by reporting on applications,
bandwidth usage, and per-user, enabling administrators to anticipate attacks and threats.

Global Management System
and Analyzer: Sample PDFgenerated reports
Virtually all reports available in GMS and Analyzer, including custom reports, can be
scheduled to be sent out in various formats on a periodic basis via email. Following
is a small sample of available reports. Note that the examples only include firewall
reports. However, reports are also available for Dell SonicWALL Continuous Data
Protection (CDP) and Secure Remote Access (SRA) appliances.
PDF reports may include many sub-reports and custom text, in addition to a cover
page and table of contents, which are full customizable. Reports can be generated for
a custom time period (e.g., yearly, last week or on any given time range).

Web activity by category of web site visited
Dell SonicWALL firewalls can detect what web sites people are
accessing through the firewall. This report shows web activity by
category of web sites visited.

Web sites blocked
Dell SonicWALL firewalls can block access to inappropriate web
sites (requires the Dell SonicWALL Content Filtering Service). This
report shows an overview of all blocked web sites.

Intrusions blocked
Dell SonicWALL firewalls can block viruses, spyware, intrusions and
other threats (requires the Dell SonicWALL Gateway Anti-Virus,
Anti-Spyware and Intrusion Prevention Service). This report shows
an overview of all blocked intrusions.

This report details viruses blocked by the firewall.

Data usage by initiator
Dell SonicWALL firewalls can detect initiator activity. This report details data
usage by initiator. Initiator IP addresses are always provided. If known, the
initiator host names and user names are also given.

Dell SonicWALL firewalls can detect what applications are
generating traffic through the firewall. This report details the
top applications generating traffic.

Customizable dashboards
The customizable user dashboard provides powerful at-a-glance insight into
network performance. Dashboards can be created per user to easily see host status,
outstanding alarms, the top applications, network volume or custom mash-ups that
are relevant to specific users.
Scrutinizer includes many reports developed specifically for Dell SonicWALL firewalls
and for a wide variety of other devices from other hardware vendors. These device
specific summary reports can be included in the dashboard view.

Google Maps
Google® Maps™ integration provides a comprehensive view of the entire network, even
across the globe! Links are color coded and displayed based upon their current status,
making troubleshooting a snap.

Port interface status and throughput
This view allows you to drill into individual port interfaces. In addition, there are
specialized reports available for Dell SonicWALL firewalls that export IPFIX.

Pair report of conversations on well-known ports
This report provides insight into conversations between source and destination on
well-known ports. The column on the left of the screen shows inbound traffic and the
column on the right of the screen shows outbound traffic.

Intelligence and Control technology.

This report offers the ability to drill into further detail on the screen to see the names
of the applications instead of the port names. It offers the option to show bidirectional
traffic or outbound traffic only (this example shows outbound traffic only). This is a
specific report for Dell SonicWALL firewalls driven by the Dell SonicWALL Application
Intelligence and Control technology.

Layer 7 applications (Dell SonicWALL-specific report)
This report, specifically for Dell SonicWALL firewalls, shows outbound application
traffic and the bandwidth that the apps are consuming. In addition, this screen has the
capability to drill down into individual applications to see which users are using the
applications.

Bandwidth usage by users
This screen shows individuals on the network at that moment in time and the amount
of bandwidth they are consuming. From this screen you can click on the user ID to
see what applications that individual is accessing.

Analysis of traffic between IP groups
The IT administrator can group IP addresses together in IP groups. IP groups can be
used to identify different offices or departments in the same organization. Using IP
groups, traffic to and from a specific department (for example the sales department
of the engineering department) can be quickly identified. You can also perform an
analysis spanning multiple groups to determine, for example, which group consumes
the most network traffic.

Logical network topology maps
This map is a Flash-based logical representation of a network topology. Connections
between network elements can be animated to represent traffic flows and different
connection types. Links can not only show utilization but also represent latency,
packet loss, jitter, and other network metrics. It’s possible to visualize both inbound
and outbound traffic.

Flow Hopper
Flow Hopper is an application of Scrutinizer which provides an end-to-end path of the
flow through the network topology. When Flow Hopper determines that a different
route is taken on the return path, the asymmetrical connection path will be drawn out
in the graphical user interface. Administrators can click on each device in the path and
view all details exported in the flow template. Flow Hopper works in a multi-vendor
environment, meaning, an environment where network products from different
hardware vendors are being used. Changes in element values, for example DSCP,

TTL (time to live), octets, etcetera, between ingress and egress metered flows are
highlighted. Using Flow Hopper the source of a jitter, packet loss or latency problem,
or misconfigured network, is much easier to pinpoint resulting in faster root cause
analysis.
