As the Outback Bowl enters the first year of its new six
As the Outback Bowl enters the first year of its new six year contract
with its four key partners - Title Sponsor Outback Steakhouse, ESPN TV,
The Big Ten Conference and The Southeastern Conference – it will
also continue to build on its 25 year history in the New Year’s Day
bowl lineup. Not only that, but this year’s game will kick off at
12:00 Noon ET making the Outback Bowl the first game of the day.
“We are extremely excited for the opportunity to be the first game to kick
off the most tradition-rich day of college football – New
Year’s Day,” notes Outback Bowl President/CEO
Jim McVay. “All eyes of the college football
world will be on the Outback Bowl and our
beautiful Tampa Bay community.”
Outback Steakhouse reaches a milestone this year as it enters its twentieth
year with the game, the longest of any of
the college bowl game title sponsorships.
The Outback Bowl will also be building on its
19 year relationship with the SEC and 21 year partnership with the Big Ten Conference. In all, the two
conferences have squared-off 21 times in the bowl with
the SEC holding a 13-8 advantage.
Halfway through the 2014 college football season
there are no less than nine teams from the SEC
and Big Ten ranked in the Top 25 polls. That should point to
another great match-up for the Outback Bowl. Each of the
past five games were decided in overtime or the final minute
of the game. This year’s team announcements will
be made on Sunday, December 7th. Tickets are
available at www.Ticketmaster.com. Premium
seats are available directly through the Outback
Bowl office at 813-874-BOWL.
