This year’s theme was “Childhood Memories”. A special thanks to the Parade Marshals, past teachers that taught in the Bridgeton area schools including the Bridgeton area Catholic schools. I’d like to personally thank the Special Events Commission and others who helped plan the parade. Those who served as judges: Kathy Schrumpf, Ginger Noblitt, Julie Chase, Marsha Hartman, Trish Hurlburt, Roger Creason and Mike Riley for their efforts and everyone who participated in the festivities. Thanks again for your hard work. This annual luncheon honors over 120 volunteers who work in various programs sponsored by the City and partner organizations. The volunteer activities recognized were: income tax assistance, Meals on Wheels program, County Older Resident Program, Mid-East Area Agency on Aging Program, Telecare programs, Senior Citizen Coordinating Committee, newsletter assembly, health care directive assistance, craft fair/coffee and donut sales, Bridgeton Culinary Band, special events. 2015 HOME IMPrOVEMEnT PrOGrAM Federal funds are available for the Home Improvement Program (HIP), a program to provide technical advice and financial assistance to qualified homeowners for a variety of home repairs. St. Louis County’s Office of Community Development, Home Improvement Program staff, administers the program. An applicant must be the owner and occupant of the property. Gross household income from all occupants must meet established low-moderate income guidelines. Homeowners cannot live in a flood plain and must be current with their St. Louis County real estate taxes. Applicants are added to a waiting list and served on a first-come first-served basis until all funds are committed. To apply, call 615-8232. Funds must be under contract by December 31, 2014. Bridgeton Participates in Celebrating St. Louis Visit the Payne-Gentry Historical House in honor of the St. Louis STL-250 celebration. On the first Sunday of each month from 1-4pm, there will be a special event along with the opportunity to see the “Cake” in front of the house. On Sunday, August 3 4 See clothing from the 1870’s made mostly of wool or cotton 4 See demonstrations on how clothes were washed and other cleaning practices from the late 1800’s 4 Take tours of the 144 year old House and Doctor’s Office Celebrate this special year each first and third Sundays with tours 1-4pm and other special festivities. EMPLOYEES rECEIVE SErVICE AWArDS Twenty-eight Bridgeton employees were honored at the Annual Employee Service Awards Luncheon on June 27th. Mayor Bowers thanked those employees in attendance for their hard work and dedication to the City. Mark your calendar for August 3rd to hear Chaz45 Band and August 17th for the Silver Bullet STL Band. Please check your Parks and Recreation brochure for the reduction in hours at the outdoor pool due to the beginning of school. This information can also be found on the City’s website under the Parks and Recreation information – www.bridgetonmo.com The concerts are held in the new Gentry Park Band Shell located directly behind the historical Payne-Gentry House. Grab a blanket or lawn chair and join us on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. BErrY HILL GOLF COUrSE DATES AnnUAL CrAFT FAIr It’s not too early to plan on participating in the Annual Arts and Craft Fair. DOG SWIM On September 6th from 1-3 p.m. humans are admitted free with their dog’s paid admission: dog must have proof of rabies and DHLPP vaccination. The admission fee is $10 if you pre-register or $13 at the door.
