Media Kit - The Cook`s Cook
2015 A Magazine for Cooks, Food Writers & Recipe Testers Media Kit Welcome to The Cook’s Cook: A Magazine for Cooks, Food Writers & Recipe Testers Launched in February 2014, The Cook’s Cook is the first magazine for food bloggers, writers, editors, recipe testers and developers at all levels of experience, from aspiring writers to published cookbook authors. Published by Denise Landis, food writer and longtime recipe tester for The New York Times, The Cook’s Cook offers profiles of chefs, how-to articles on getting published, career advice, tutorials on recipe writing and recipe testing, reviews of recommended products, feature articles, travel, and much more. The homepage has the portal to download the free magazine, which is a photo-rich cornucopia of food writing. From cover stories regarding up-and-coming food stars such as Marja Vongerichten of the PBS series “Kimchi Chronicles,” to food-related human interest stories by renowned authors such as Joyce Maynard, to compelling feature stories about trending food news, The Cook’s Cook covers a wide range of topics of interest to food writers and recipe developers. Book reviews, travelogues, suggestions of innovative cookware and kitchen gadgets, and tips about new food products are just some of the regularly appearing articles. There are columns about vegan, gluten-free, foraged foods, beverages, and more. Recipes are included in many of the articles. A Magazine for Cooks, Food Writers & Recipe Testers Introducing something new, a magazine like no other A digital magazine for everyone who loves food, creates recipes, and has dreamed about writing a cookbook… Everyone who reads the food section, keeps an index box of recipe clippings, subscribes to food magazines and websites… Who teaches children to cook, who loves world cuisines… Every blogger, restaurant-goer, cooking-class-taker, food scientist, kitchen-experimenter, aspiring author… A magazine for every level of home cook or professional chef who writes or wants to write - about food… Why The Cook’s Cook? The Cook’s Cook is a groundbreaking magazine unlike anything published before. Not a trade magazine, nor a blog, nor a recipe-driven website, The Cook’s Cook is the very first magazine designed to appeal to anyone who has ever wanted to write about food, from the home cook jotting notes in a journal to the professional chef who is planning to write a cookbook. Departments cover a wide range of topics, including instruction in food writing, editing and recipe testing, cooking with kids, food travel, foraging, agriculture, reviews of cookware and appliances, feature stories, interviews, and more. Why a Digital Magazine? The digital medium is perfect for The Cook’s Cook because it is the medium of today’s and tomorrow’s consumer. Your customers are in front of screens all day long. Reach them with the medium they have embraced themselves. Food writers do research online, communicate via the Internet, publicize themselves and their work via social media, and publish much – sometimes all – of their work online. Yet as easy as it is to become a blogger about food, many good cooks don’t know how to write a recipe, and often writers who enjoy good food don’t know much about cooking. The Cook’s Cook brings together a community of people who have in common a love of good food and a desire to know more about it. The Cook’s Cook Connects You to Social Media As a digital publication, The Cook’s Cook is connected directly to the world of social media. With over a half a million followers on Twitter, we are able to direct our readers to our advertisers’ social media sites and websites. Unfamiliar with Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and other popular online venues? We offer social media packages to set you up and train you in how to best utilize social sites for connecting to your customers, or we can even administer the sites for you according to your needs.
