The Grand Hotel is a spectacular venue overlooking one of the finest bays, so if you are looking for a
unique location full of old world grandeur and traditional British charm, you have found the right place.
Torquay’s landmark hotel for over 130 years, the Grand offers 132 individually styled bedrooms,
the Grand Spa, and AA rosette fine dining in Restaurant 1881.
Over the years the hotel has had the pleasure of welcoming many famous guests from Agatha Christie
to the Rolling Stones. With striking Victorian architecture and elegant interiors, the Grand is a fantastic
venue which will impress your guests from the minute they arrive.

If you want a small intimate gathering, or a large sparkling event we will do everything we can

We can offer you the best wedding suppliers in the county, we can make arrangements to ensure
that your special day goes exactly to plan, from flowers to photography; our approved
partners know how to fulfil every expectation.
Grand & majestic or simple & chic
The Devonshire Suite is a spacious room, with an ornate ceiling, and stunning glass chandelier.
With its own bar and staged area this room is perfect for a truly private function. The suite is able to
seat 180 for a civil ceremony and 140 guests for your wedding breakfast. If you are looking for an opulent
evening reception venue, this room can host up to 250 to join you in your celebration.
The Cavendish Suite is an airy room with views of the terrace and across to the sea. The ideal setting for
civil ceremonies or wedding breakfasts for up to 60 guests. For more intimate events, we can offer
The Chatsworth Suite, a beautifully decorated room with a domed ceiling and sparkling glass chandelier.
The perfect setting for intimate groups of up to 12 to be wed and dine in style.
For a ceremony followed by the wedding breakfast, we can offer our stylish Restaurant 1881,
with stunning panoramic views across Torbay and a room that offers grandeur with a capaity of 200 guests.

Pay £200 holding deposit to confirm the date
Next, pay £800 8 weeks after booking
Then, pay £500 6 months before wedding date
Finally pay the balance 28 days before your wedding date

Wedding Terms and Conditions
Booking
1. Provisional booking will be held for a maximum of 7 days. Booking will only be confirmed
upon receipt of a non-refundable £200.00 deposit, and signed wedding contract.
2. Minimum numbers will be requested at time of booking; they can be increased at a later
date, but not reduced.
3. Final numbers and menus for the event are to be provided a minimum of 6 weeks prior to
the wedding date.
Payment
4. An additional non-refundable deposit of £800.00 is payable 8 weeks after the booking
confirmation.
5. 6 months prior to the wedding day an additional non-refundable deposit of £500.00 is
required.
6. Full payment of the outstanding balance is to be paid 28 days before the wedding day. This
invoice will be based on final numbers supplied (see point 3)
7. Extra changes on the day can only be authorised if a credit card guarantee is given prior to
your wedding.
8. Any extras charged to the account will be settled on the day of your wedding. In the event
you are staying in the hotel, charges can be billed to your room and are to be paid on
departure.
9. All prices that are quoted on the contract are to be honoured by the hotel, unless there is an
increase beyond our control, i.e. VAT.
10. The Hotel reserves the right to charge a 5% fee on late payments or payments made outside
of the agreed dates.
11. Failure to settle an unpaid account will result in court proceedings and interest charges will
be accumulated.
12. Any queries should not delay immediate payment of the outstanding balance. Queries
should be referred to the hotel within 7 days of receipt of invoice. No allowance or refund
can be made for meals and other elements not taken within the agreed package rate.
Payment must be made in Pounds Sterling (UK) payable to the Hotel.
13. Prices contained in the Contract are CONFIDENTIAL and must only be used to form the basis
of a package.
14. All prices are valid for the defined period only and, unless specified otherwise in the
Contract is non-commissionable.
Cancellation Charges
15. Any cancellation, postponement or significant change in the arrangement must be
confirmed in writing.
16. All deposits are non-refundable.
17. In the event of any cancellation the following charges will apply,
Cancellation 90 days prior to event
Cancellation 60 days prior to event
Cancellation 30 days prior to event
Cancellation less than 30 days prior to event
Loss of deposit
Loss of deposit plus 25% of contracted costs
Loss of deposit plus 50% of contracted costs
Loss of deposit plus 100% of contacted costs
We strongly recommend that all clients arrange wedding insurance cover.
All weddings shall be subject to the following
18. The client shall be responsible for the orderly conduct of their guests and shall ensure that
no action should result in a breach of the law, or cause nuisance in anyway.
19. Any damage done to Hotel property will be billed to the below signed persons.
20. In the occurrence of any behaviour deemed dis-orderly the Hotel is entitled to request the
offending individuals to leave the premises.
21. Only food and drink provided by the hotel is to be consumed on the premises. This includes
alcoholic wedding favours and gifts.
22. Wedding cake may be brought in but only by a pre arrangement with the Hotel.
23. Wedding cake cannot be served as a dessert, but can be used to accompany an evening
buffet
24. The Hotel takes no reasonability for the cake whilst it is on the premises.
25. If having an evening buffet, 80% of guests or more must be catered for.
26. In the event of exceptional circumstances, the Hotel reserves the right to vary specifications
without notice.
27. The Hotel is a licenced venue for Civil Marriages and has a full liquor licence and public
entertainments licence.
Liability of the Company
28. Subject to Clause 31, the Company shall not be liable, whether in contract, tort (including
negligence) or otherwise for any indirect, consequential or economic losses or loss of profits
however arising.
29. In no event will the Company’s liability for any loss or damage in contract or tort
(including negligence) or howsoever otherwise arising, exceed the total amount paid by the
Client for the Booking.
30. The Company shall not be liable for any breach of the terms and conditions or delay or
failure in providing services as a result of causes beyond its reasonable control including (but
not limited to) fire, floods, terrorism, strikes, delays in transportation, failure of services or
inability to obtain any necessary information or consent from any authority. In addition the
Company shall not be liable for postal or fax bookings not received.
31. The Company does not exclude or restrict its liability in respect of death or personal injury
resulting from its negligence.
Governing Law
32. These Conditions and the Contract shall be governed by and construed in all respects in
accordance with the laws of England. The Contract does not affect any rights which the
Client may have under the Hotel Proprietors Act 1956 where that Act applies.
