All Aboard! Detailed Fare Information Base/Regular Fares This map gives detailed information about Chicago Transit Authority bus and elevated/subway train service, and shows Pace suburban bus and Metra commuter train routes in the CTA service area. It is updated regularly, and available at CTA rail stations, Metra downtown terminals, visitor centers, airports, or by calling the RTA. Travel Information Center number below. Regional Service Overview Passes CTA runs buses (routes 1 to 206) and elevated/subway trains serving the city and 35 nearby suburbs. Most routes run daily through late evening, every 10 to 20 minutes. Sunday schedules apply on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. The purchase fee is refunded onto the card’s Transit Value Account upon registration of the card. Fares are subject to change. * Applies at all train stations except O’Hare, where a premium fare applies. Qualifying riders can pay a reduced fare with RTA- or CTA-issued permits or Ventra (notify rail station staff or driver before paying with full fare Ventra Card or bankcard). Student Fare Program The Student Reduced Fare is for children ages 7-20 with valid CTA Student Riding Permit. Valid on school days only between 5:30am and 8:30pm. Obtain Permit through school; otherwise fill out an application on the CTA website. The following groups are eligible to ride free on CTA: Qualifying Seniors and Customers with Disabilities Qualifying seniors ages 65+ and customers with disabilities who are enrolled in the Illinois Department on Aging Circuit Breaker Program and have a valid Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) Circuit Ride Free Permit are eligible to ride free. CTA buses “kneel” on any request, lowering the bus to curb height. All buses also have ramps at the forward doors; anyone can ask for the ramp to be deployed. Other accessibility features include priority seats and wheelchair securement areas. Automated voice announcements — both interior and exterior — help make stop, route and other information accessible to people who are blind or visually impaired. LED signage on CTA’s buses enables people who are deaf or hearing impaired access to this same information. Accessible Rail Service All CTA trains provide space for wheelchairs and have a designated wheelchair securement area.
