Wanneer jy in 2015 as student die NWU-Potchefstroomkampus betree, begin jou lewenslange verbintenis met die
NWU, maar spesifiek die NWU-Potchefstroomkampus.

Dit was die regte besluit om in te skryf by die Noordwes-Universiteit. Laat ons jou help om jou drome te verwesenlik –
op watter studierigting jy ook al besluit het. Ons koester hoë verwagtinge van jou en jou toekomstige bydrae tot hierdie
universiteit en die land.
Dit is belangrik om van die geleenthede gebruik te maak wat die Universiteit bied om te ontwikkel as iemand wat bewus
is van en sensitief is vir jou omgewing. Kyk na alles met nuwe en kritiese oë; vra moeilike vrae; neem met oorgawe

You have made the right choice by enrolling at the North-West University so that we can work with you on the realisation
of your future dreams, in whatever field of study you are undertaking. We have high expectations of you and the
contribution you can make to this university and the country.
It is important that you use the opportunities the university offers to develop as a person aware of and responsive to
your environment. See things with new and critical eyes; ask difficult questions; participate in what student life has to
offer in abundance; take part in the sport and cultural opportunities presented by the university; and remember to make

Ek skryf hierdie boodskap vir jou met groot verwagting! Ek is nie net opgewonde oor die Noordwes-Universiteit nie,
maar ook vir jou wat hierdie groot en wonderlike besluit geneem het om jou toekoms op die Potchefstroomkampus van
die Noordwes-Universiteit te begin.
Baie hartlik welkom aan al die nuwe NWU-Pukke van 2015. Julle staan op die vooraand van ‘n totaal nuwe en
opwindende tydperk in julle lewe waartydens julle vorming verder sal geskied en julle toegerus sal word met die nodige
kennis om ’n beroep te kan begin beoefen.
In die dae wat voorlê sal elke nuwe eerstejaarstudent deeglik kennis maak met alle fasette van studentwees. Die NWU
wil elkeen graag hierin ondersteun en julle help om ‘n vaste fondament te bou deur middel van hoë gehalte onderrig en ‘n
wye verskeidenheid ontwikkelingsgeleenthede wat stewig op ons doenwaardes gebaseer is. Die Noordwes-Universiteit
is by uitnemendheid toekomsgerig.
Plaas ‘n groot prioriteit op akademie en maak ten volle gebruik van al die studiegeleenthede wat die Universiteit bied.
Onthou altyd dat akademiese skoling die hoofdoel vir elke student moet wees. Wees egter ook gebalanseerd en neem
deel aan aktiwiteite wat jou persoonlikheid ontwikkel, naamlik sport, kultuur, die koshuislewe, die georganiseerde
studentelewe, ens. Dit dra by tot die vorming en die toerusting vir die latere lewe.
Die Universiteit se Registrasie en Oriëntasieprogram sal vir julle ‘n belangrike bron van inligting wees. Wees betrokke
en neem ten volle deel. Dit sal van julle volwaardige en suksesvolle lede van die NWU-gemeenskap maak.

It is with great expectation that I write this message to you! Not only am I excited about the North-West University, but
also for you making this big and wonderful decision to start your future on the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West
University.
Welcome to all the new NWU Pukke of 2015. You are standing on the threshold of a totally new and exciting period in
your life during which you will further develop and where you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge to start a
profession.
In the days that lay ahead every new first-year student will get thoroughly acquainted
with all facets of being a student. The NWU would like to support everyone in this and
help you to build a solid foundation by means of high quality tuition and a wide variety
of development opportunities that are firmly based on our do values. The North-West
University is future oriented par excellence.
Make academics a big priority and make full use of all the study opportunities that the
University offers. Always remember that academic schooling must be the primary aim
for every student. However, be balanced and participate in activities that develop
your personality, namely sport, culture, the residence life, the organised
student life, etc. It contributes to the development and the equipment for

By die NWU-Potchefstroomkampus poog ons om die gesprek tussen student, hul
ouers en die kampusbestuur (én Studenteraad) voortdurend oop te hou. Ons wil
ingelig wees oor die ervarings van die eerstejaars en hul ouers.
Daarom het ons ʼn SMS-lyn gevestig waar studente en ouers hul menings kan lug.
Ons wil almal aanmoedig om dit deurentyd te gebruik en enige gedagte (positiewe
terugvoer) of klagte (negatiewe ervaring) onmiddellik aan ons te rapporteer. Wees
verseker dat alle inligting met omsigtigheid hanteer word en dat anoniemiteit ten
alle tye gewaarborg word (tensy anders versoek).
At the NWU Potchefstroom Campus we strive to continuously keep the
discourse between student, their parents and the campus management
(and Student Council) open. We want to be informed about the
experiences of the first-years and their parents.
We therefore established an SMS line where students and parents
can air their opinions. We would like to encourage everybody to use
it to immediately report any thought (positive feedback) or complaint
(negative experience) to us. Be assured that all information is treated
with circumspection and that anonymity is ensured at all times
(unless otherwise requested).

Pukki-vervoer bring jou waar jy wil wees. Die Pukki-vervoerdiens is ‘n diens wat die NWU-Potchefstroomkampus spesiaal
aan die kampus se studente bied om tydens vakansies en ander spesiale geleenthede by hulle bestemming uit te kom.
Daar is tans ‘n bussie wat elke naweek na JHB, PTA, Lanseria, sowel as OR Tambo ry teen ‘n gesubsidieerde koste
om ons studente veilig by hulle eindbestemmings uit te bring. Om meer uit te vind oor die diens kan jy ‘n epos stuur na

Pukki transport brings you to where you want to be. The Pukki transport service is a service
that the NWU-Potchefstroom Campus offers specially for the campus’ students to reach their
destinations during holidays and other special occasions. Currently there is a little
bus that travels to and from Johannesburg, Pretoria, Lanseria as well as OR
Tambo every weekend at subsidised costs to get our students safely to their
destinations. To find out more about the service you can send an e-mail to
