Nate’s Notes
*Water’s Edge is a church on
the move. It began with fishing as our men’s life group
brought family and friends
out to the lakes at Sandy
Watkins Park. Fish, food
and family fun….what more
could a man ask for? Just
two months later, fishing
poles were stored and paint
brushes pulled out. Our men
were given an opportunity to
paint and redesign the
teacher’s lounge of Jefferson
Elementary. Thanks to Lowe’s for the cabinets and the
Kentucky Baptist Convention
for the financial support.
*Graduation Sunday is always a proud moment at
Water’s Edge. Cassie
Cooper completed her Masters of Arts in Teaching. Kolby Schweikhard graduated
OCTOBER
from high school and is
heading in the direction of
becoming a pharmacologist.
Congratulations !
*Father’s were treated to a
hearty “Breakfast for Heroes” at King’s Kitchen on
Father’s Day. We sure appreciate Audra London setting the pace as our new
hostess team leader and
organizing this event.
*Terry and I traveled to Columbus, Ohio, for the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC).
It is always an honor and a
privilege to be a part of a
voting body of an organization consisting of 40,000
churches. Next year the SBC
will be at St. Louis. It is my
prayer that W.E. can bring a
team to the mission outreach,
“Crossover,” June 10-12.
*It is always a privilege to
be able to unite a man and
woman in holy matrimony.
Tony and Taraha Baum were
married August 7 and Chris
and Morgan Thomas on September 26. Wondering who
is next? God is good.
*Softball had a good season. Ryan Woods is not only
an excellent coach but a
spiritual leader at the games
and the practices.
*Summer and Josh Mabry
kept my arms full during the
baby dedication of their
twins, Art and Lillybelle.
Genny Beaven and DJ Banks
also dedicated their new
daughter, Ryan. Over and
over this summer, families
came together to celebrate
life. “Every day they continued to meet together in the
temple courts. They broke
bread in their homes and ate
together with glad and sincere hearts.” Acts 2:46
Deacon Ordination
Ordination is an act of
commitment in the presence
of God’s people on the part
of the individual who feels
God has called him to serve
in the church. On September
27, W.E. had it’s very first
deacon ordination. Praising
God for the decisions made
by these men and the support and love provided by
their brides:
David and Phyllis Buchanan,
Roger and Kathy Newman,
Steve and Becky Newman,
and Chris and Ann Reynolds.
What a marvelous time to
serve our Lord. Our
deacons have an
unmatched opportunity to
reveal the love of God.
Family assignments for
each deacon will be listed
on the directory.

Life Groups always have
Bible Study as the core. But
Life Groups are more than
just a group that meets for
a short period of time and
then ends when the study is
complete. Instead, Life
Groups are all about doing
life together. Growing spiritually through God’s Word,
sharing joys and sorrows,
making hospital visits, sending cards, having surprise
birthday parties and enjoying meals together. Be
sure to get plugged into a
Life Group or consider
starting a new Life Group
with others who have a
common interest. Check
with Nate for material
availability.
Sundays:
Wednesdays:
Children’s Life Groups during each Worship
Celebration led by countless volunteers who
have made discipling and loving our children
a priority. KUDOS to Megan Woods who
committed to serve one year to set the pace
in children’s ministry!

Youth and Young Adult Takeover
If you followed the yellow
brick road on September
13th to Water’s Edge, you
would have discovered very
quickly that this was no ordinary Sunday morning. There
were youth and young adults
everywhere, large and in
charge! Joshua Mabry was
teaching, not behind a curtain, but up front sharing a
survey of Job. Caitlyn Nikolai produced and choreographed the drama, “Job,
from the Wonderful Land of
Uz.” It was a Christian spoof
on the Wizard of Oz. Caitlin
also led music with Aaron
Gray. Our youth and young
adult were ushers, greeters,
children life group assistants
and helped in every area of
ministry. We look forward to
what’s next.
Bible Drills have resumed - let the competitions begin!
Kick off was September 27
and already we have a full
house. But there is always
room for one more. All children in first through sixth
grades are invited to be involved in Bible drills. This is a
school year-long program
which culminates in regional
Page 2
and state competition. You
and your family will not want
to miss Bible drills. Lorissa
Gallion and David Drennan
have returned for a second
year to lead our children.
Psalms 119:11 tells us, “I
have hidden your word in my
heart that I might not sin
against you.”
While the children are in Bible drills, parents are invited
to become a part of the
adult life group that is held in
the auditorium of W.E.
Bible Drill is each Sunday
evening from 6:30-7:30.

Student Life takes 12 to Crossing at Jonathan Creek
After W.E. students emerged
from the mud pit, we knew
we had the dirty dozen.
Thank goodness we were
warned in advance to wear
disposable clothes and head
straight to the showers.
Phew! Our teens were a
stinking mess. And that was
just part of the fun. In the
middle of kayaking, ziplines,
Blobs, cake decorating, and
gaga ball was the opportunity again and again to discover just what it means to Proclaim. Our students learned
that proclaim meant to announce publicly, declare
something with emphasis,
make something known, and
to do it with boldness. According to C.S. Lewis, proclaim is something that we do
naturally. When we are passionate about a team we
support or a movie we saw,
we proclaim just exactly how
we feel about it, naturally.
From July 5-10, 2015, our
students learned to Proclaim
the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
They learned this in large
groups and small groups.
They learned this during activities and while listening to
awesome Christian music.
They learned to Proclaim the
Gospel even when they left
Jonathan Creek. Next year
our goal is 2 dozen students
and the spots are already
reserved. Our students are
about to begin their fundraising for Crossing 2016, from
June 26-July 1, where the
theme is IDENTITY. Students,
see you there!!!

STOMPING THEIR WAY TO SAY “OUR GOD IS ROCK SOLID!”
In between baseball games,
beach vacations, and camping trips was Sunday night
practices for the Rock Solid
Stomp Musical. KUDOS to
Cassie Cooper who accepted
the challenge to be the director of this huge endeavor.
No rock was left unturned to
pull off such a big event.
Practices were not just your
ordinary practices. There
was an activity to complete
and a Bible study lesson to
be learned. Thank you, Bob
Clement, for opening in prayer and Tony Baum, for stepping up as the spiritual lead-
er. Pie pans, jazzy gloves,
bear bells, water jugs, and
coolers had to be constructed, with the much appreciated help of Donna Briggs,
Rebecca and Keith Hudson,
Connor Hogan, and Margie
Sandefur. Stomp and sign
language instructors had to
learn and then teach their
choreography to students of
all ages. This would have
been impossible without the
hard work from Taraha
Baum, Mallory Vowels,
Michelle Tinsley, and Cassidy
Kitchens. The thank you list
could go on and on. But most
Welcome to the Family
important is a big thank you to those infants (for making the
sweetest little cows); children and students for preparing all
summer to sing their songs, memorize their lines, perfect their
stomp routines, and serve as stage managers and audiovisual
leaders; and parents for every car seat you buckled, every
play button you clicked, and every meal you rushed to have
your children at practice. The gospel was sung, demonstrated,
written and shared with all those who responded to their invitations to enjoy the musical. Our God is ROCK SOLID!
Plans are in place for our Christmas Musical December 13!

Ministry began in January
and doesn’t end until the
boxes are shipped out. Each
month W.E. congregation was
asked to bring in various
items to help fill the boxes.
From hair bows to toy cars,
toothbrushes to washcloths,
and paddle balls to yo-yos,
we are now ready. On Oc-
tober 25, our student ministry
will be packing all the boxes
to get them ready to be
shipped out. The only thing
left to make a difference in
the lives of those children in
need is the postage fee of
$7.00 per box. We have a
goal of 50 boxes. Margie
Sandefur, thank you for setting the pace.

PRAYER IS A POWERFUL WEAPON
More than 70 family members from Water’s Edge Church watched War Room on opening
day. War Room was a powerful movie that changed many lives and many homes. How
many of us went home and cleaned out our closets to construct a War Room? The power of
prayer! Water’s Edge is requesting your partnership with us through the power of prayer.
Commit to pray for our outreach efforts and for locating a larger facility. We are also
seeking financial partners to help with cost associated with our ministries and growth. You
may send financial contributions to our mailing address at PO Box 2053, Henderson, KY,
42419 or by going to our web site www.watersedgechurch.org and donating online.
DOWNTOWN HENDERSON TRICK OR TREAT
Each year Henderson downtown businesses open their
doors when the trick or treaters come knocking.
Each year Water’s Edge
Church opens it’s doors by
setting up on the corner of
First and Main Street to greet
all the children and their parents. We will be there again
this Halloween.
Water’s Edge has become
known for hot chocolate and
pet rocks. Our clown, Little
Caeser Rodney, hands out
pet rocks and catches the
attention of everyone. This is
a perfect opportunity to pass
out tracts to the children.
All are encouraged to be a
part of this outreach opportunity by bringing in bags of
candy.
The Sunday night Adult Life
Group will be filling the bags
on October 25. This gives us
3 weeks to complete our collection of all the sweet treats.
