The shelter is open to residents of Daviess County. The shelter houses stray and unwanted pets in a
modern facility. Animal are adopted to qualified applicants. The Animal Control Department picks
up stray and unwanted animals, traps nuisance wildlife, rescues animals, removes dead animals from
the streets and other properties, gives programs to various groups upon request.

Advocates for all people with disabilities or limitations due to aging. Provides information about
technology, issues of interest to people with disabilities, issues of interest to aging laws, regulations,

Information and referral for homeless in Evansville. Aurora works with the homeless through: Direct
Services: providing services to the homeless, Prevention: promoting services that prevent
homelessness, Community Awareness: educating the community on homeless issues, Collaboration:
facilitating collaboration among agencies, churches, schools, businesses, etc., and Advocacy:
advocating for the social and economic changes necessary to make ending homelessness a reality.

Prenatal Program and focus on children under 3 years of age and expectant mothers.
Promotes early prenatal care and child wellness through an incentive program which rewards
participants with vouchers that may be redeemed for new baby items.
The doctors give vouchers out to mothers who do prenatal care and also give vouchers to mothers
who bring their child in for well baby check ups. The health dept, gives vouchers to parents who
bring children to clinics to get child vaccinations.

Provides an emergency shelter for families, women and children, traveling families who have
experienced car trouble, refugees, migrant families, fire victims, and pregnant teenage girls and
women. Provides meals, at no cost, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm, 365 days a year. Clothes Closet provides
free clothing every weekday morning.

The Bethel Mall was started to provide needy children with supplies to start the new year out at
school. It’s a one day what we call "Shop Till 'Ya Drop Mall" where the kids get the chance to have a
personal shopper take them to pick out a couple outfits, shoes and school supplies. It started out as
a small country church project but has grown so that it involves the whole community.

Volunteer Program. Trained RSVP volunteers screen children for vision problems. If a problem is
detected, the child is referred to an Optometrist. If family is in need of financial assistance for the
doctor’s fee and/or glasses, RSVP can provide information and applications for help through Prevent
Blindness Indiana. To qualify, we must have referred the child and need the child’s social security
number. Also, immunization clinics are help in the spring and 2 in late summer for preparing for

A new, affordable health insurance program for uninsured adult Hoosiers. The program is
sponsored by the state and only requires minimal monthly contributions from the participant. For
ages 18-64. A pre-existing or high-risk medical condition has no effect on eligibility. HIP offers full
health benefits including hospital services, mental health care, physician services, prescriptions,
diagnostic exams and disease management.
A minimum of $500 in preventive services are free. HIP does not cover pregnancy services, as those
are offered under the Hoosier Healthwise program (HHW) nor does this program cover vision and
dental services.
Individuals must earn LESS than 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL) must not have access to
employer sponsored health insurance coverage and be uninsured for the previous 6 months. Cost
will be between 2% and 5% of their gross family income to have the security of health insurance.

boxing, Youth at Heart (easy workout) . The YMCA offers a wide variety of open workouts on
cardiovascular equipment. Classes in Yoga, Pilates, Cycling, Step Aerobics, water exercise and adult
basketball.
