Yucca Mohave County Arizona
Yucca is an unincorporated area in Mohave County, Arizona, United States. Located
along Interstate 40 in the I-40 Industrial Corridor, it lies southwest of Kingman, Arizona.
Yucca started as an order office and water fill station for Atlantic and Pacific Railroad
(affiliated with the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway) in the 1880s. It was part of a
rail line commissioned by congress spanning from St. Louis, Missouri to Needles,
California. This rail line grew to be transcontinental and is a major freight corridor to
Southern
California.
During World War II, the US Army Air Corps purchased the land and developed the Yucca
Army Airfield for training pilots. In 1954 the air base was purchased by Ford Motor
Company and along with additional land, was turned into the Ford Proving Grounds.
Yucca became part of U.S. Route 66 in 1952 when the highway was realigned bypassing
Oatman, Arizona. This was the heyday for the small town when motels, cafes, and a
Whiting Brothers truck stop operated. In the early 1970s Interstate 40 replaced the
section of Route 66 going through Yucca. Chrysler purchased Chrysler Proving Grounds
in November 2007 from Ford.
According to the Census Bureau, Mohave County is one of the fastest growing counties
in the United States. Geographically, it is the second largest county in Arizona. Mohave
County is home to the western portion of the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Wonders
of the World. With its breathtaking mountain peaks, colorful desert landscapes, excellent
weather, continued growth, and superb labor force, this county offers many opportunities
that make it a unique place to live, visit, work and grow your business.

The Yucca area workforce hails from Yucca, and from all three major cities in the County.
Kingman being the closest, the Bullhead City/Mohave Valley area, and Lake Havasu City.

Prestige Properties in Kingman in August 2005. In December 2008,
Dwayne purchased majority share of the Lake Havasu Office and merged it
into RE/MAX Prestige Properties. Effective July 1, 2012, Dwayne
purchased the Bullhead City office and additionally opened a second office
on the north end. With the acquisition of the Bullhead City Offices,
RE/MAX Prestige Properties is the #1 Agency in Mohave County with
approximately one half the agents of other offices. RE/MAX Prestige
Properties was the 2012 Brokerage of the Year for RE/MAX Southwest
Region and his Team was #1 in Commercial Sales.
