Meyer Natural Angus Beef provides antibiotic, hormone-free beef at World
Championship BBQ Cooking Contest
The Shed BBQ, Sweet Swine O’Mine and Boars Night Out to compete with humanely
raised beef at Memphis in May competition
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 28, 2014) ---Three barbecue teams chose Meyer Natural Angus
as their beef provider for the Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking
Contest May 15 to 17. This is the first year the country’s leading producer of humanely
raised, antibiotic and hormone-free beef will be used at the competition. The Shed BBQ,
Sweet Swine O’Mine and Boars Night Out plan to cook Meyer briskets as their entry in
the “Anything But” beef division hoping the all-natural beef combines with their secret
recipes to create a prize-winning dish. The teams will also serve rib-eyes, striploins and
tenderloins to the public. For more information, visit meyernaturalangus.com.
The 37th annual World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, ranked first by USA
TODAY WEEKEND and 10BEST, features more than 250 teams competing for
$100,000 in prizes and the coveted title of World Champion. In 2013, visitors came
from all 50 states and eight foreign countries.
“We are proud to support these teams in their pursuit of using antibiotic and hormone
free products,” said Meyer Natural Foods director of marketing Chris Anderson. “Their
previous awards are proof that these products are not only healthier for you, but also
taste better.”
Two titles were given to The Shed BBQ at Memphis in May 2013, including World
Champion of whole hog and poultry. Sweet Swine O’ Mine is a two-time Memphis in
May World Grand Champion team and four-time World Champions in the shoulder
category.
