MANAGER’S CORNER (CONT’D.)
Board of Directors Meeting
The June Board of Directors Meeting will be held on Tuesday June 17 th, 2014, preceded by a Meeting of the
Storm Water Council. A Town Hall Meeting will follow. Mark your calendars for June 17th . See you there.
Summer Projects underway
In preparation for the painting of both the Main and Tradewinds Clubhouses pressure washing was completed on the Tradewinds and Main Clubhouse roofs. Just Like New Pressure Cleaning also sprayed the buildings
and tile area to clean any residual from the roof. Additional pressure washing will be done to the building
stucco, fascia, soffit, gutters, and downspouts just prior to painting.
Marzucco Construction Services will be painting both the Main and Tradewinds Clubhouses this summer.
You may remember, Marzucco's renovated the wall caps and painted our perimeter wall.
Palm Tree Trimming by Island Tree Service
Villas and Executives are being trimmed as part of the normal landscaping.
Single Family Residents may opt in to this service by returning the form included at the end of this newsletter.
Prices for single-family residences opting in are as follows: front yard $30.00 each, back and side yard $35.00
each. Please make check payable to Island Tree Service. You may turn the form and payment into the office
at the Main Clubhouse to myself or Jennifer Alexander. The work being performed is between the homeowner and Island Tree Service. DEADLINE TO TURN IN THE FORM TO THE OFFICE IS JUNE 13TH.
Important Reminder: The Villas and Executives will be trimmed as part of the normal landscaping. Use this
form only for single-family private residences not served currently with the Master Association contract.

MANAGER’S CORNER (CONT’D.)
The Playground will be repainted along with the painting of the Clubhouses. In addition the two benches
overlooking the play area along with the single bench located near the beach volleyball will be sandblasted
and repainted.
Landscaping renovations along the Parkway. Phase three of our landscaping renovation of the Reflections
Parkway will be completed in June. All hibiscus in the side beds along Reflections Parkway will be replaced
including the beds at each end of the Parkway. (Mamey Crotons, Abricola, and Ilex Shillings will replace the
Hibiscus) Ilex Schilling is
especially well suited for groundcover or low hedges. These choices will give color and fullness to the beds
along the Parkway.
Look for annual color at each end to brighten the entrance to the Community. You may have noticed
recently, 1900 annuals were added to the gate areas. These plants are expected to bloom beautifully over
the summer season.
Other projects under consideration: Basketball Court resurfacing. We are now collecting proposals for this
work; the Board will consider options for the Basketball Court resurfacing this summer.
On behalf of the Board of Directors we appreciate your confidence in helping us make our community
the best it can be.
Greg Sandora, LCAM

MANAGER’S CORNER (CONT’D.)
AED’S
The Board of Directors of Reflection Lakes Master Association approved the purchase of two Zoll AED
Units. The units have been installed and are located, one in each clubhouse. The units are situated within
cabinets to help deter theft. Each cabinet is equipped with a strobe light and alarm which will go off during
use.
EVAC Receivers at the gates.
EVAC Receivers allow immediate access for Emergency Vehicles at all six of our inbound gates. This system
allows First Responders the same kind of access residents have when using the gate transponders currently
many have on their visors. The Yelp system is no longer in operation because the new requirement is that
we use the EVAC system. We have notified the respective authority of our compliance.
The Tennis Courts are for playing Tennis Only!
I was asked to remind the community that this is a published rule of the Master Association. The Off-Duty
Sherriff’s patrol has been advised. The Tennis Courts at the Main Clubhouse have been re-surfaced.
Please as a Courtesy to other Members, Brush Courts and Sweep Lines after play.
To Keep the Courts in great condition: Court Master adds two (2) bags of aggregate per court per month to
maintain the newly resurfaced courts. Bocce Courts receive 1/2 that amount allowing for better
maintenance of Bocce surfaces as well.
Please be reminded there is No Smoking at either pool or at the Playground. Please be courteous to other
residents and be reminded of this important change to the rules of the Master Association.
A special thanks to the Board of Directors, made up of volunteers who work throughout
the year to maintain and improve the community. It is my distinct and rare privilege to work
alongside each of them daily.

Preserve Areas by: Herb Lenchner-Stormwater President
The Reflection Lakes Preserve Areas are under the exclusive jurisdiction of our Stormwater Joint Council.
The following are rules and other important information regarding the Preserve Areas:
1.
Residents are not permitted to remove, cut, mow or in any other manner affect the landscape in the
Preserve Areas.
2.
In the event a resident believes that something in the Preserve Area may cause harm to person or
property, the resident should report said to Greg Sandora, our property manager. If the resident
feels that Greg has not made a proper decision, the resident can call upon the Stormwater Joint
Council which always has the right to call upon our county and state regulators for their ultimate
determination. As a last resort, a resident can resort to the judicial system.
3.
For the official record, our regulators, both county and state, have determined that there is
absolutely no fire hazard in existence in our Preserve Areas. They have determined that our Preserve
Areas have the necessary moisture to prevent the type of fires which occur in other areas of Lee
County.
4.
All of our Preserve Areas are regularly serviced by an expert contractor for which we annually budget.
To date, we have not had reports of any problems. Our regulators, both county and state, have made
it perfectly clear that all wild life in our Preserve Areas should be permitted to exist and live out their
natural lives. Therefore, it is the policy of the Stormwater Joint Council not to trap any wild life which
may visit any property outside of the Preserve Areas. To my knowledge, Reflection Lakes has not had
a single incident with respect to pet or human over the span of its existence.
I trust this information will be helpful in the understanding of our Preserve Areas.
Regards, Herb Lenchner,
President, Stormwater Council

NEWS FROM SOUTH TRAIL FIRE & RESCUE
By Christie Knudsen, Public Education Specialist
Another Frequently Asked Question—“Why do I see the fire truck at Publix? In the April newsletter we addressed the question, “Why do the fire truck and ambulance both respond to medical calls?”
Another question often asked is, “Why do I see the fire truck at Publix?” A look at the on-duty work life of
the South Trail firefighters answers this question.
The South Trail Fire & Rescue District operates with three 24-hour shifts of firefighters, A-Shift,
B-Shift, and C-Shift. Each shift consists of 21 firefighters who staff the four South Trail fire stations.
The firefighters are on-duty for 24 continuous hours and are off-duty for the next 48 hours. Every
third day, a firefighter reports for duty at 8:00 a.m. and stays at his or her station until 8:00 a.m. the
following morning. There is no time off the clock for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Firefighters must provide
their own food when on-duty; the District does not pay for any meals or food.
A fire station is often referred to as a firehouse because firefighters live and work together for 24
hours. The camaraderie that develops between the firefighters is one of the best parts of the job and is
an important factor in developing a cohesive emergency response unit.
As a “firehouse family” the firefighters eat their meals together. The legend of firefighters being
good cooks is true, and those without culinary skills are good at cleaning up afterwards. Sometimes, firefighters bring food from home, but often they cook and eat a family-style meal with the whole crew. Each
firefighter that partakes in the meal pays his or her share of the cost of the meal.
Eating together and eating healthily are important parts of the work life of a firefighter, and may
result in a trip to the grocery store for fresh food. The recommended practice is for the firefighters to
stop at the grocery store only when returning to the station from a call, not a special trip. The whole fire
crew and truck must go to the grocery store together because they must be ready to respond to an emergency call at a moment’s notice, even if it means leaving a half-filled shopping cart behind.
If you would like to experience for yourself the work life of a South Trail firefighter, you are invited
to participate in the Ride-along program. Anyone over 18 years of age may apply for a Ride-along by calling (239) 433-0080. A Ride-along is available at any of the four stations, seven days a week, from 8:00
a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
You are of course always welcome to stop by any of the stations for a personal tour of the firehouse. And, next time you see the firefighters at Publix, please say hello, introduce yourself, and if you
wish, ask for a tour of the fire truck.
The monthly meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the South Trail Fire & Rescue District will
be held at 5:30 p.m. on June 16 at Station 63, 5531 Halifax Avenue. The public is invited.

Friendly REMINDERS
Reflection Lakes residents are not permitted to have garage sales and estate sales. There are bulletin
boards available in both clubhouses to post your personal for sale items. Just write up a nice ad, date it at
the top, stop by the office, pick up the key, post the ad, return the key to the office.
- Your ad will be removed after 4 weeks so that others can post their ad(s).
- One section labeled for Community Events - One section labeled for Personal Ads.
- Use a small ad, not a 8.5" x 11" page.
Please keep in mind, these bulletin boards are for personal items, not to advertise businesses that
residents may own or participate in.
Please be advised that it is against the rules and regulations of the Master
Association as well as Lee County Ordinance #09-20, when not cleaning up after
your pet. Please dispose in the proper fashion by taking your pets waste with
you.
On another note, please be sure to walk your dog on a leash for the safety of
your pet and the public. Thank you!

We wanted to let the community know that our Feeding Fort Myers canned food drive was "off the
charts" successful! Many thanks to Pam and Joe Ferrara on Bald Cypress Circle for rallying support on the
north end. The entire drive collected 30,000+ cans and packages of food for the CCMI food bank and soup
kitchen in Fort Myers and our effort was 319 cans. So, thank you everyone for dropping by our house with
your contributions. You are making a difference for our more desperate neighbors in Fort Myers.
Poem submitted by Doug Keno:
“The Builder”
I saw them tearing a building down
A team of men in a busy town
With a heave and a ho and a zesty yell
They swung a beam and the side wall fell
I ask the foreman, are these skilled men?
Like the one’s you use if you were to build
He laughed and said, no indeed
The most common labor is all I need
For I can destroy in a day or two
What takes builders years to do.
So I thought to myself as I went on my way
Which one of those rolls will I play.
Am I builder with rule and square
Measuring and constructing with skill and care?
Or am I the wrecker who runs the town
Content with the business of tearing down.

REFLECTION LAKES FUN STUFF TO DO
BRAIN GAME—MAH JONGG—by Kathy Kuzminski
You’ve probably heard by now how important exercise is for your
brain. One great exercise for your brain is to learn something brand
new! If you enjoy playing card games…this fun and challenging “new”
game called Mah Jongg is for you. You won’t even need to get your
doctor’s approval to see if it’s okay to participate!
You’d be wrong if you think Mah Jongg is just the matching tiles solitaire game you may play on your computer. It’s
actually a centuries old Chinese game, played by everyone, using tiles rather than cards and is similar to playing
Rummy. Once you learn the basics and begin playing Mah Jongg you’ll love the game. Some say it’s addictive…so
beware!!
If you already know how to play and want to join us…we meet Tuesday evenings in the main clubhouse card room
from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
If you want to learn (or re-learn) the game…we’ll be holding a beginners class on Thursday, June 12th, from
2:30 pm until 3:30 pm in the card room.
Please contact Kathy Kuzminski to sign up for the class at 415-5959. Start exercising your brain now!!
