Congratulations to Bill Sanders, Tony Rivera, and Kathy Gude on being elected for three more years. The election of officers took place on Sept. 18. The officers for 2013-2014 are Joe Tucciarone President, Bill Sanders, Vice President, Jerry Scanlan, Treasurer, and Tony Rivera, Secretary. FAMILY DAY IN THE PARK The Plantation 2nd Annual Family Day was held September 28 under mostly dry skies! Many thanks to event chair, Sarah Del Rio and her committee, board members, our maintenance dept., and all the other volunteers and employees who came together to put on this fun day for the residents of Plantation. There were a lot of fun activities for adults and kids and delicious food and treats for all. Hopefully this will become an annual event so if you don’t volunteer for anything else during the year for your community, sign up for this one next year. The Board is reluctant to do any repairs, except emergency, to the old Clubhouse until decisions are made on a new building so that money isn’t wasted. The design submitted is only a start on deciding what the residents would like to see built into their Community Center/Clubhouse that residents will take more ownership in. Welcome to the Board Michael! The Board took title to a foreclosed home in Springwood and rented it out after doing some renovations. This is an approved practice for HOAs. to help improve neighborhoods by cleaning up foreclosed homes and recouping some back assessments The Association will hold the title and collect rent until the bank finishes foreclosure action. The Board approved installing safer auto lifts in the Maintenance area and are looking at installing a covered structure to protect the equipment. The Board approved a motion to finish the overlay of the rest of the pathways on the inside of the common area. The Board is considering stocking Triploid Grass Carp, a type of fish, to 5 lakes to control the growth of Hydrilla instead of using chemicals to kill the grass. The Manager is working with the County regarding an agreement to maintain the medians that were deeded to the County years ago. The Board is continuing work to resolve upgrading the Community Center/Clubhouse. Suggestions about what you, the residents, want in the Community Center are encouraged to help us make the best decisions for the community. Please contact the office for information if you are interested in placing an ad in our 3 NEW TRASH CONTAINERS The new trash containers have been delivered and residents are doing a great job getting their trash out early and positioned correctly so the truck can collect the trash. One of the biggest problems is residents are not pushing the container out far enough if there are cars or trucks parked on the street so the trash truck can’t reach the container. The truck driver will honk his horn in those early hours to get the homeowner to come out and position their container so the trash truck can reach it. Remember our pickup days are Tuesday for trash and yard waste, and Friday for recycling and trash. Residents are still required to conceal these cans from view by putting them in the garage, behind a fence or bush barrier. They cannot be left out in front of your house or you will receive a violation letter from the ACC. Do your part to help keep your neighborhood looking neat and clean. All garbage must be put in County containers or it will not be picked up. Yard waste will still be collected manually in containers, bags, or bundles provided by residents.
