DINE EDWARD’S CAFE AND CATERER 115 E. Main Street (248) 344-1550 www.edwardscaterer.com LET EDWARD’S CATER YOUR THANKSGIVING DINNER! EDWARD’S FAMILY FEAST (serves 6-8) . . . . . . . . . $160 INCLUDES: • Roasted Turkey 12-14 pound turkey, whole and unstuffed • Traditional Stuffing made with fresh herbs, celery and onions • Your Choice of Homemade Whipped Idaho Potatoes or Whipped Sweet Potatoes • Your Choice of Green Bean Casserole or Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Fig Balsamic Glaze • Cranberry Orange Sauce with apples and spices • Rolls with butter • Turkey Pan Gravy with sage and thyme TIPS FROM THE EDWARD’S KITCHEN: CREATING THE PERFECT CHEESEBOARD A cheeseboard is like a piece of art. It needs texture, color, and a story. A good cheeseboard should be a feast for the eyes as well as the palate. Choose cheeses with a variety of flavors, textures, ages, and colors. From mild to sharp, soft to hard, fresh to aged, the combinations are limitless. Select two to five cheeses and plan on about 3–5 ounces of cheese per person. This amount can vary depending on the course. It can be fun to let your selection be dictated by a theme. For example, a selection of cheeses only from Vermont, strictly goat cheeses, or maybe an offering of just Italian cheeses. Cheese is best displayed on a natural surface. Use wood, slate or marble. Offer one knife for each cheese and leave space between each cheese so that flavors don’t mingle Cheese is best enjoyed at room temperature. Be sure to take your cheeses out of the refrigerator 1–2 hours before serving. Labeling each cheese is a good idea so that your guests know what they are eating. Accompaniments are key. Choose rustic bread and crackers that won’t overshadow the cheese. Fresh pears, apples, figs, and grapes or dried apricots, cranberries and cherries are all good choices. If you want to include berries, they are best served in the form of compotes, jams, and chutneys. Pickled veggies, nuts and charcuterie are also great additions. 5 IT’S TIME TO SHOP WITH US! BIKRAM YOGA NORTHVILLE 122 MainCenter (248) 924-2002 www.bikramyogadetroit.com Fall in Michigan is definite “eye candy”! It soothes the soul and readies our spirit for the calm quiet of Winter. Let Ernie and Melissa Curnett at Bikram Yoga Northville help you keep your body healthy and warm this coming Fall and Winter with the many different classes all day long, 7 days a week. It is located on Center Street just south of Main Street in downtown Northville. Studio classes include: * 90 minute Bikram method Hatha Yoga series called “Classic” * 60 minute (modified) Bikram series called “Hot 60” Both classes are conducted in the traditional HOT (105°) room. * Warm75 minute (modified) Bikram series is in a WARM room. This class offers a slower approach to Hatha yoga. Modifications are encouraged for students to ease into their yoga experience. The room is still heated, but to a lower temperature. This class is for people who might be healing an injury or need help with the proper alignment. All three of these classes (hot and warm) guide students toward healthier joints and spines using the proven benefits of the 26 postures + 2 breathing exercises. It is recommended that new students start their practice with the “Classic” or “Warm75” class for two reasons: It gives the teacher more time for instruction, and the postures are repeated twice giving the new student more opportunity to become familiar with the practice. SHOP And last but not least; Kids Yoga, every Saturday afternoon, is for the younger yogi age 8-12. These students are encouraged in a very fun and gentle way, with no heat, to make the practice of yoga part of their lifestyle. Please check out the Bikram Yoga website at www. bikramyogadetroit.com or www.hotyogadetroit.com for more information about their studio, class times and pricing. Stylish new additions, the latest trends, and classic designs. Just in time for the most festive season of the year. Take advantage of their special promotions during Girls’ Night Out and upcoming Holiday Events. Proper alignment is what is stressed to achieve in the classroom. Not every body is capable of performing the final expression of each posture. So you are taught to begin by standing straight while learning to become aware of your breath. Which sounds simple but it’s not! You are then slowly moved into postures meant to steer the entire body in the direction of better health. YIN yoga is conducted at average room temperature. It is the practice of learning how to breathe well and relax muscles so the ligaments have the capability to stretch. Hips and shoulders house an incredible amount of stress. YIN is the perfect yoga for learning how the release it, and yet it takes time. Make Yin part of your weekly practice. SlowFlow is a vigorous class combining upper body strength, flexibility and cardio. This is a blended class of several traditional styles of hatha yoga therefore it is not a set sequence and the postures will vary with each class. The class is designed for all students seeking a challenge. Beginners are welcome. Core Club meets in a cool room 3 times a week. This class is where your strength and ability is challenged so as to fine tune your balance. The stronger your core, the sturdier your structure. 10 IT’S TIME TO SHOP WITH US!
