The Rohrer Genealogy
Gottlob Schmidt (1794 - 1879)
He and his wife lie hurried in the Chatham Ill. cemetery. Homesteaded
area 1 mile east of Chatham on Chatham Rd now a subdivision.
Came to America in 1819.
Charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Springfield Ill.
Had four daughters. One of them, Minnie, married Andrew Rohrer Jr.
Andrew Rohrer Senior (1805 - 1885)

He and his wife lie buried next to the Schmidts in Chatham, Ill. cemetery.
Homesteaded area 2 miles east of Chatham on Chatham Rd, now a suburb.
( as a boy I remember seeing remnants of the log cabin in which they lived.)
They had a number of sons one fought in the Civil War and almost died in
the infamous Anderson prison. Returned to Chatham skin and bones.
Another son, Andrew Jr~married Minnie Schmidt.
Andrew Rohrer, Jr. (1840 - 1910) *
Born in Chatham -- marries Minnie Schmidt (1847 - 1904)
Took over the old Schmidt homestead.
Had four sons, Edward, George, Charles, Ben .
3 daughters, . Emma Louise, Carrie, Francis.
Ben, Carrie and Francis stayed on to farm the old homestead until the
1950's when it became part of a subdivision which now has streets
named, Ben's Drive, Carrie Lane and Francis Drive.
All buried in Chatham, Ill cemetary except Emma Louise.
Emma Louise Rohrer (1870 - 1924)
Married Marcus Wagner

* In obituary it says-- 'Deceased was born in Wurtenburg, Germany, Jan.1,1840 and
came to Ball township at the age of 18 years, and has been a resident there since. He was
a devout member of the German Lutheran church at Chatham and has been a deacon since
its organization. He lived a life of integrity and uprightness that developed a character-----
