Coping with baby’s teething
Many babies do not feel well while they are
cutting their primary teeth. They can be more
tearful and have difficulty falling asleep. They
could also experience slight fevers and have
a poor appetite. Their gums swell and they
may have rosy cheeks. During this period,
softer stools may irritate their bottoms. In some
cases, minor complications may appear, like
ear infections or rhinopharyngitis. If you have
any doubts surrounding your baby’s health, be
sure to consult your doctor.

Babies begin to teethe at around six months of
age. The incisors appear first, then the premolars.
Their smile will be transformed by the time they
reach their first birthday! For certain children, the
emergence of the milk teeth, also known as baby
or primary teeth, is hardly noticeable while for
others it’s accompanied by various ill-effects and
pain.
Teething can last for more
than two years.
Teething pain can be soothed in various ways. A
baby’s gums can be massaged gently with a facecloth soaked in cold water. Refrigerated rubber
teething rings can also be effective as low temperatures have anaesthetic properties: Babies need
to chew on objects to reduce their pain. However,
never give them pieces of hard, raw fruit and vegetables (apples, carrots, celery, etc.) before they
are two years old due to the risk of choking.
Your doctor and your pharmacist will perhaps
suggest homeopathic granules for fever. Topical
analgesic gels are dangerous — babies can swallow them. Finally, never forget that plenty of
cuddling will make your baby feel a lot better!

such as unpasteurized dairy products and cold cuts. Ask your doctor about
taking vitamins specifically designed for pregnant women.
Get plenty of exercise; it’s invigorating. Forget about extreme sports, and
concentrate on activities that are ideal for pregnant women: prenatal
yoga, swimming, aqua-fitness, walking, and dancing. Relax with massages
designed for pregnant women. It’s important to mention to massage
therapists (or any other type of carer) that you are pregnant; make sure that
they are qualified to give this type of massage. Specialists, such as osteopaths,
physiotherapists, or chiropractors, can help you with any back pain you may feel.
If you plan to be a working mom, put your name down for a place in the daycare of your choice as early as possible. Take the time to visit
several daycare centres and talk with the people in charge so you can find a place that corresponds to your expectations and values. Look into
the following points: schedules, caregivers’ qualifications, safety, cleanliness, menus, and rates.
Lastly, prepare the baby’s room and wardrobe. Look for furniture designed specifically for children, including a crib that conforms to current
safety standards. Choose a relaxing colour for the walls and decorate the room to create a cosy nest for your little baby.
