I am the sister of Gary Merriman and daughter of Wayne Merriman. My family and I are trying to surprise my brother and his wife for their 40th Wedding Anniversary with a card shower. I know there are a few members of the Mid-America Packard Club who may want to send their well wishes to them. However, since we are trying to make this a surprise, I am having a difficult time gathering some addresses. If you would be so kind as to pass this attached message along to those who would be interested, I would sincerely appreciate it. Secondly, although it has been many years, I myself have nothing but fond memories of Packard Club meetings and events with my Dad. As the baby girl in our family, I tagged along on these and other classic car outings from the time I was very little. I am humbled each time I see or hear mention of the Wayne Merriman award. I truly thank you on his behalf for the honor and respect shown to my wonderful father. I know he would be pleased that there are those dedicated in keeping the true passion for these beautiful works of art alive. Thank you and Kind regards, Joyce Olds 816-590-3415 3 The 1956 Packard Auto Show Display Thanks to PAC member John Lauter, of Motor City Packards, we have these views of the Packard Division of S-P official Kansas City Auto Show booth, as located in Kansas City’s Municipal Auditorium. While looking at the lovely automobiles Packard hoped to interest the good people of KC in, take a closer look at a an artifact common in each photo. Those oh-so-modern dividers, positioned between the cars to set them off, and which allow a swoopy title card to float above each jewel-like Packard, were an integral part of the Packard booth. They were stylish, easy to move and to set up, and were inexpensive. Would you enjoy having one or two of these Packard dividers in your garage, or perhaps in your living room? Or perhaps you might think that several might serve their original purpose at an upcoming show. Now you can build these for yourself, if you just follow the (implied) instructions on the following pages! 4 The 1956 Packard Auto Show Display 5 The 1956 Packard Auto Show Display 6 The Crowd Pleaser! Back in June, MAP went to Lees Summit for the town’s “Downtown Days.” The cars that were on display were many and various, from the ubiquitous “Classics,” Ratrods, Hot Rods, and Chevy, Ford, and Chrysler products. But it was Jon & Bonney Root’s wonderful ’32 Roadster that drew the crowd and all the attention. At end of the evening, the Root’s took home a trophy for Show Car of the Week! Nice to know that Packard style can still wow ‘em! 7 8 FOR SALE! The last few pieces of the Zacher collection are now available! Call Dr. Joe Zacher for more details!
