O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
Envelopes
Are provided upon registration. Please mark
your name clearly on
front of envelope.
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Thank You
Dear parishioners of Saint Joseph's Church,
Last Sunday was World Mission Sunday
throughout the world. I want to thank you for
participating in purchasing Kenyan Tea. I hope
you enjoy the taste of fine quality tea, or use it
as a gift for a friend. It has raised more than
$500 for the Oblate Mission in Kenya. This will
be sent to the Missionary Association of Mary
Immaculate which builds partnerships between
Canadians and some of our local projects with
youth and parish missions as well as international Oblate missions. I'll be going over to visit
our missionaries in Kenya in January 2015.
There is also a Mission Awareness tour of our
Oblate missions in Kenya being organized for
laity leaving January 19th and returning February 6th, 2015. Information is available in
"Oblate Spirit Magazine" if you would like to
join this group.
Blessings, Fr. Ken Forster OMI,

Our Financial Stewardship…COLLECTION for Oct 19, 2014 was $6,318
The work of our parish is supported through the generosity of our parish community. This includes the
spiritual life of our faith community, care for those who come to our doors and efforts to promote social
justice in our city, country and world. Like all budgets, our budget will be adjusted as necessary if we incur unforeseen expenses or receive additional funds or contributions of time, services or materials that reduce our costs or let us enhance our activities. We are grateful for every gift.
***Please be sure to write the amount of your donation on your envelope. It really helps.
** Envelopes are available in most pews for visitors who wish to use them.
News from around the Table…
The Supper Table
Sadly, we did shut down on Wednesday. But,
people were still expecting a meal. I kept thinking
about how some of our guests might be feeling
about this, or if some were even aware. I am sure
some just knew they were hungry. So, if this happens again, what will be the response to those living in poverty, needing a meal and the hospitality?
It is something on my mind.
Flu shots were re- scheduled for Monday evening
from 5:00pm - 6:30pm - all are welcome.
Right to Vote: City for All Womens Initiative,
CAWI, a group started by one of our own parishioners, provided us with a brochure and information for those in the margins regarding the right to
vote and ways to go about doing so. Information
can be found in our Parish Office lobby and at the
church entrance on Sunday. Suzanne, one of our
parishioners, shared a story about voting in the
margins. She had met a woman after a presentation at The Well who had never voted and didn’t
know where to go. The woman was also anxious
about crowds. So together they called the city and
found out where, when, and
how to go. Suzanne reminds
us that there are many barriers in so many street people’s
lives that we haven’t even
considered.|
Thank you for Chili and for
all the food donations from the Thanksgiving
Food Drive!

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP – SOW MUCH LOVE:
Development and Peace (D&P), a member of Caritas Internationalis, is in its fourth year of focus on ecological justice. In a recent
video, Pope Francis calls on us to support the efforts of Caritas organizations around the world. He said, “I was hungry and you gave
me something to eat. The words of our Lord call us today, telling us
not to turn away, indifferent, when we know our neighbour is hungry. I encourage the faithful to participate in Caritas’ “Food for All”
campaign and raise a voice for the hungry, particularly during the
week of action in October.” Thank you to all parishes that are supporting D&P’s “Sow Much Love” Education /Action campaign
(devp.org). In so doing, you support small family farmers who are
the guardians of the world’s seed biodiversity and who help feed
the hungry. Info: John Dorner ([email protected]; 613-7385025 x251).
