The three conferences are CIMUN (December 11-14, 2014), MUNUC (February 5-8, 2015) and NUMUN (April 9-12, 2015). The conferences run from Thursday afternoon through Sunday afternoon. This tour will provide our students with the best international diplomacy simulations available in the country. We are asking the District 86 Board of Education to consider and grant a request for one and one half excused days of absence. We feel these conferences will be an excellent vehicle for each student's experience of diplomacy, as well as their education in the humanities. No student will be denied participation in this tour due to financial reasons. All students have the opportunity to participate in any and all fund raising programs. I welcome any inquiries you may have concerning this tour. Thank you in advance for both your past support of Model UN, as well as your consideration of this request. October 15, 2014 Dear Parents/Guardians, First of all, thank you for allowing your student to join Model UN. I think it's one of the best self-directed learning opportunities your student can have in high school. I would encourage you, as conference nears, to talk with you student about their preparations, have them walk you through the websites and discuss with them their positions on the difficult issues the UN faces. While we've never had any problems with students on these trips, please discuss with your child your expectations for their behavior. I reinforce the reality that this is a school sponsored trip and that school behavior expectations apply. If for any reason you need to contact me during the weekend of conference, the hotel's main phone number is 312-922-4400. The hotel will be able to contact me immediately. For nonemergency correspondence please contact me via email: [email protected]. Thanks again for allowing your student to be a Model UN delegate.
