The Pink Paper
Four Billy Carts have been created in anticipation of the inaugural Coraki Public
School Billy Cart Derby.
The idea was conceived as part of the Years 3 and 4 Science & Technology
curriculum and now, the whole school is gearing up for some fun!
The students have been working on the project for an entire school term and now it
includes the whole school with some students also bringing billy carts from home,
to add to the numbers.
They will be racing on the school oval, with novelty events, obstacles and timed
relays.
The students have been overly joyed to be taking part in a project which has a focus
building up to a special day event.
Everyone is welcome to come along and be a part of the fun!
Next Tuesday 9th of August – after recess until the end of the day.

Star Newspaper!)

Q. If you have me, you want to share me. If you share me, you
haven’t got me. What am I? A. A Secret!
This week’s question…..
Q. What invention lets you look right through a wall?
Come and be part of the fun at
our annual Open Day. It's your
chance to get up close to the
Pilots, Crew and aircraft at
our helibase located at 60
Brunswick Street, Lismore.
With face painting, a jumping
castle, lazer tag, as well as food
and a live DJ, the day promises
to be fun for the whole family.
Our riverfront will come alive with a Viking village and
medieval festival, featuring markets, BBQ, community
bonfire and a main evening filled with Viking
entertainment!
Any locals who want to have the special medieval feast experience should know that it’s not pre-seated, but tickets must be
purchased in advance via http://tix.yt/medievalmelee. For locals who don’t have computer access but want to take part,
call Kate on 0418 568 045 for help.
The Vikings dined on long trestle tables with hearty winter-warming foods. $35 a ticket gives you a unique dining
experience and a chance to say you ate like a King…. Or as the Vikings would say, a Jarl!
Plus, dress up to really get into the fun with prizes on offer for the best Game of Thrones, Vikings or Lord of the Rings
costumes! Make it a great night out with your friends!
For all the families, bring blankets and low chairs to the main event from 6pm and sit in Karl’s picnic, riverside with access
to the traditional medieval BBQ and bar.
Your ticket includes; Viking village access, and as locals, you can buy your ticket in the morning when the village opens at
10am and stroll through the village and markets, then come back ready to be entertained at 6pm. Ask at the community tent
for your pass-out.
$15 is a bargain for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, or individuals can pay $5 to get in.

CINEMA ON THE RIVER
When we last updated the Pink Paper
readers, we had won funding from the
Quarry but hadn’t yet received the
money. The money is now received
and our volunteers are working to get
the equipment in that’s needed for
regular cinemas. Look out for a
monthly schedule coming soon!
NEXT MAJOR EVENTS
We’ve pulled the pin on our October
riverside event when we’d heard from
the Cooee Community Fundraisers
they were aiming for the same thing.
That makes our next big event our
Christmas Carols and Schools
Spectacular evening in December.
We highly recommend anyone in the
community get along to any of the
upcoming Cooee Community
Fundraisers events – they look like
they’ll be a blast and will do a great
job in fundraising for Aussie farmers!
And for those who really want to get
involved, get in touch as we’d love new
members to our group.

Cooee Coraki Farmers Fundraising
1st Raffle was Drawn at the Mock
Wedding Event on last Saturday Night.
The winner of the $300 Stand Mixer &
Blender was Dick Birmingham and he
kindly re-donated it back on the
evening and was re-drawn - the lucky
winner was Dorothy Buckland!
Congratulations Dot!
All totalled on the night, including the
Wedding Wishing Well, Raffle and
Catering - $3805 was raised – an
amazing effort!
A few months ago a few local
people formed a committee and
called it the ‘Cooee Coraki
Fundraiser’. Their aim was to raise
money for our NSW and QLD
farmers who desperately need
help. These farmers are losing
properties that have been in their
families for generations. They are
losing livestock and there has
been an increase in suicides
among the farming communities.
All the money raised for The Mock
Wedding Night goes straight to
Aussie Helpers! There are no
expenses taken out!
Everything for the night was
donated – the food, the cake, the
raffle, music, acting and volunteer
workers all volunteered their help
and time – we are not going to try
to name each individual person but
just a HUGE THANKYOU to each
and every one involved!
Retraction: The Editor of the
Coraki Pink Paper was asked to
kindly ‘retract’ words used in the
previous week’s Pink Paper Ad for
the Mock Wedding….. There was a
promise of “Bad acting and bad
makeup” being a major
feature……. Well, MY retraction is;
“They didn’t disappoint!”
Thank-you! Tracy 
The Amazing Mock Wedding
Event of the Year –
A Phantom Review!
(Phantom Reviewer’s Name has
been withheld deliberately!) Ed.
Arriving wedding guests were
welcomed by everyone's favourite
golfing uncle who had, after a long
day on the greens - found himself
in the rough, cozied up at the front
steps of the reception venue.
Upon entrance, the 'Royal Coraki
Golf Club' had been transformed into
an enchanting wedding venue fit for
our gorgeous Princess Bride and her
newly acquired Handsome Husband.
After much mingling and light
nibbles, the wedding guests settled
in ……..There was an 'air' of
anticipation as the wedding party
made their entrance.....
First came the cutest little Flower
Girl and Pageboy followed by the
Groomsman; handsome and
debonair. The Bridesmaids strutted
like supermodels down the admirer filled runway.....the crowd hushed;
brought to its knees as the Bride and
Groom entered the room.
Well no......... Actually, the wedding
guests roared into cheers of
laughter......and so the night
began.... A Wedding of love and
laughter.... Of charity and good
people with spirited hearts.....
A lovely hot meal was skilfully
prepared by Coraki's very own award
winning Michelin Star Chefs (word
around town is that they were freshly
plucked straight from Chanel 10's
very own Masterchef!)
The guests and wedding party alike
were professionally waited on by the
country’s most highly sort after,
silver service, Heston trained,
charming wait staff.
Whilst dining, the guests were
reintroduced to everyone’s favourite
uncle; who shone brightly in his St
Andrews inspired golfing dungarees stealing the show with not only his
dancing, singing and drunken
outbursts but also his horse racing
tips and strategies!
Throughout the evening guests were
both serenaded and entertained by
the talented musicians, wedding
toasts, and speeches and not to
forget, the blushing Bride's
effeminate voice, cutting through
the air like a two stroke engine at
full throttle!
The night was dotted with an array of
gorgeous characters from the
wedding party and family relatives including a fetching young flower girl
and gorgeous little pageboy
endearing us with their antics and
tantrums - even playing pretend
aeroplanes!
The Master of Ceremonies (M.C.)
looked stylishly alluring in his
Armani blue suit, straight off the
set from the 80's hit T.V. Show
'Miami Vice' - partnered with the
softly spoken, angelic Priest in his
honourable, stately robe... Both did
a marvellous job wrangling a
wayward crowd.....
The Mothers of both the Bride and
Groom were a pair of well-made
models of heavenly elegance;
sporting daring hairstyles in both a
sharp purple bob and luscious
golden ringlets, straight from a
Parisian runway..... Along with their
‘caterpillaresque’ eyebrows, the
steel capped work boots were the
finishing touch of added class …
and their fascinators were indeed
'fascinating'!
The Groomsmen were strapping,
suave young stallions in their
wedding finery; captivating the
hearts of many a single bridesmaid
- left wanting to run their fingers
through their thatch of well
coiffured manes....... But the
'Colonel Sanders' styled facial hair,
worn by the gentlemanly
father's (both bride's and groom's)
- was worthy of its own special
mention!
The special guest - Dame Edna,
with her gladioli's and 'croc' shoes,
was dressed to impress but.....had
some wardrobe problems when her
unruly lemons kept getting
squeezed and started straying in
opposite directions (at one point,
even disappearing!)
The charms of the red blooded, red
headed, buxom bridesmaids
mesmerised us in their wedding
glamour.... Their dresses were
certain crowd pleasers, although
there did appear to be an
abundance of inappropriate
touching - which may have been
the cause of many a sexual
harassment claim and even many
more wardrobe malfunctions...
(Much to the delight of the wedding
guests!)
After meals were served, bouquet
tossed, garter 'excavated’ - cake
was cut and swanned around the
room by delectable
bridesmaidens…… A quick
costume change into a robe
borrowed straight from Hugh
Hefner's wardrobe and an
exquisite white negligee - the
ravishing couple's romantic first
bridal waltz quickly turned into a
chicken dance with moves to rival
that of Elvis Presley's gyrating
hips......
The bridesmaids high heels were
a thing to contend with but the
spills and thrills on the dance
floor didn't end there...... The
flower girl's pirouettes would rival
that of Odette's in
Tchaikovsky's ’Swan Lake.'
With both the bride and groom’s
parents relieved - the happy
couple were last seen in a 'hotted
up' red scooter.... The clang of a
string of beer cans announced
their departure, as they rode off
into the sunset - headed towards
wedded bliss.
At the end of the night, the makeup and the dress sense may have
been questionable and there may
very well, be a handful of
participants that we may never be
able to look straight in the eye
again without giggling.... (You
know who you are!) - But the
support emitting from the room
was an absolute blessing for
Coraki and a 'Godsend,' for the
Aussie Drought Appeal.
After all the fun and frivolity of
the evening, one thing surely
stood out - and that was simply
that a group of people all came
together in the name of charity...
The 'Aussie way'.... The 'Coraki
way'..... Resulting in a huge
success for the Mock Wedding of
the Year and a crowded event
that overflowed with an
abundance of friendship and love.
The magnificent Bride and Groom
and their fine cast of Family
Members (both young and old),
the guests, Priest, M.C, Cooks,
Special Guest Stars, Actors,
Directors, Play Writes, Production
Crew, Assistants, Prop Masters,
Hair and Makeup Artists,
Costume Designers, Special
Effects Supervisors, Musicians....
The list goes on.....
What treasures we have in
Coraki!
The next stop is Hollywood!
