This year marks the 5th anniversary of the “Trails of
Light”. For the past 4 years,
home owners have been showing their community spirit by
lighting up their back yards and
creating the “Trails of Light”
for everyone to enjoy over the
Holiday Season. Cooper’s
Crossing Residents’ Association is once again inviting
those that back onto our amazing parks to create a dazzling
light display for a chance to
win not only bragging rights,
but also a $100 gift certificate
to a local Airdrie restaurant.
What could be better than
bundling up on a cool winter’s
night, grabbing a mug full of
steaming hot chocolate, and
wandering through the parks
and pathways in Cooper’s
Crossing with your family,
friends, and neighbours? This
year we invite you to join the
hunt for the best and brightest
rear yard light display. Join our
tour of the “Trails of Light” on
December 12 beginning at 6:45
pm from the WestMark office
(7 Cooper’s Close). Bring your
own travel mug and we will
happily fill it with hot chocolate from Starbucks. One of
the many reasons our community was voted “Best in Airdrie” is because home owners
really do have community spirit. We will be looking for the
most outstanding back yard

New Logo, New Website, New Look
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the first homes completed in Cooper’s Crossing.
We’re proud to announce the
launch of a refreshed logo for
the ongoing evolution of our
community.
We’ve also given our website a
whole new look and feel with
improved performance for
mobile devices and tablets.
Check it out at cooperscrossing.ca.
It seem only fitting that with all
these changes the community
newsletter also deserved a new
look. You can also keep up to
date with what’s happening in
our community through Facebook or follow us on Pinterest.

airdrielife magazine was the
byproduct of that inspiration.
Cooper’s Crossing resident
Sherry Shaw-Foggatt, Publisher
and founder of airdrielife magazine, has been recognized as
Airdrie’s 2014 Business Leader.
The prestigious award is given
to a business leader that has
demonstrated long-term vision,
leadership, and commitment to
Since airdrielife magazine,
Sherry has also been a founding member of Creative Airdrie
Society and worked with the

board. When asked about how
she felt about receiving this
prestigious award, Sherry willingly shared a quote from her
acceptance speech; “I am re-
ceiving this award because I
am incredibly selfish. I simply
wanted to live in, and write
about, a place where the arts
flourish; where public art, live
music and theatre, great restaurants and festivals can be provided for my own entertainment and amusement. I want
to walk down the street and see
colour and culture and diversity. I want to see it, hear it,
smell it, and taste it. Mahatma
Gandhi said “You have to be
the change you want to see in
the world.” And so I founded
the Creative Airdrie Society.
We wish to recognize and
commend Sherry on her ongoing commitment to bring more
art, music, creative opportunities, and cultural diversity to
the City of Airdrie.

long anticipated K-4 school in
Cooper’s Crossing is scheduled

View Schools’ Board of Trustees, Superintendent of
Schools, and Government of
Alberta dignitaries for this exciting new beginning.

Be a Snow Angel
Be a snow angel it’s the
neighborly thing to do.
Property owners are reminded
that snow and ice must be removed from the sidewalk along
your frontage within 48 hours
of the beginning of a snowfall.
According to Airdrie Bylaw
No. 910, section 401, residents
are not permitted to place
snow removed from sidewalks
and driveways on to the roadway or any public space.
Be a respectful and thoughtful
neighbour. Shovel your snow
and encourage others to do the
same. Keep a watch for people
in the neighbourhood who
have difficulty moving snow
and lend a hand by being a
snow angel.

Remembrance Day Reflection
We Shall Keep
the Faith
by Moina Michael
November,1918
Oh! you who sleep in Flanders
Fields,
Sleep sweet - to rise anew!
We caught the torch you threw
And holding high, we keep the
Faith
With All who died.
We cherish, too, the poppy red
That grows on fields where
valor led;
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never
dies,
But lends a lustre to the red
Of the flower that blooms
above the dead
In Flanders Fields.
And now the Torch and Poppy
Red
We wear in honor of our dead.
Fear not that ye have died for
naught;
We'll teach the lesson that ye
wrought
In Flanders Fields.
The poppy has been
worn as a symbol of
remembrance in
Canada since
November 11, 1921
