Basque Country-Dordogne (Périgord)
2016 France with Bertrand Basque Country-Dordogne (Périgord)- Bordeaux Wine Country Dear fellow Chaîne member, “The sun on the ripe sugared grapes; the deep sense of history in those elegant estates - their stories both told and untold; the musty hug of a dank and hoary cellar; the perfect placement of a curled petal on a white plate, the surprising complement of duck brûlée and green apple mousse; great dialogs about vintner’s alchemy, terroir, and its parallel to our lives; the freedom of giddy laughter with dear friends old and new (a couple glasses of wine didn’t hurt this effect!); the melodic song of spoken French language….these are some of the sensuous delights that I continue to savor. Thank you for setting up that wonderful opportunity Bertrand and creating a really memorable experience”. There is nothing like a testimonial to give you a sense of what my trips are all about. Lynda, who was in my trip last September shared with me this testimony. It is so beautiful written that I felt like passing on to you as I couldn’t have said it better. If you would like to live Lynda’s experience, I am inviting you to join me in 2016 for a memorable gastronomical adventures in the country where it all started: France. For the past years I had the great pleasure and privilege to lead tours with Chaîne members in many areas of France famous for their wines and gastronomy. Not only it was a unique opportunity to enjoy a fantastic trip to France but also to travel with Chaîne members that are sharing the same passion for the Chaîne traditions and values while supporting the Chaîne Foundation. As you know there are few countries in the world that offer so much diversity of landscape, making each region of France a distinctive and unique place to visit. France not only presents all its wonders to explore, but also remains the true capital of the gastronomy in the world. The food and wine are part of the French heritage and the French people are eager to share it with those of you who have an appreciation for a lifestyle that emphasizes quality and good things of life. This year, I am going to take you to the South Western part of France, mostly reknown for the wines of Bordeaux, picturesque Dordogne Valley which is the spiritual home of foie gras, the beautiful Basque Atlantic Coastline, and the amazing prehistoric caves painting of Lascaux II and Rouffignac. This trip will take you to the 123,000 hectares of grape growing area around the city of Bordeaux which is the largest fine wine producing region in the world. Château Margaux, Château Beychevelle, Château Palmer are only some of the numerous prestigious wineries of this area. The trip will start and end in Bordeaux. During that time we will be driving to the Southern part of the Basque country and back to the Perigord area filled with prehistoric sites and finishing the trip with the visit/tasting/lunches/dinners at some of the most prominent winemakers of the Bordeaux region. For eleven days, you will live a gastronomical dream that you will never forget. This trip is about you and a lifestyle that will take you away from your current past moving environment to a slower pace where you will never need a watch to distract you from being in the moment. Date for the trip is September 15- September 25 Should you be interested to know more about this fantastic trip, please simply send me an email at [email protected] so I can send you all the detailed information. I hope you will join me for this memorable trip. Warm regards, Bertrand PS: The trip is limited to 12-14 guests and the cost per person is $7,200 (double occupancy). 10% is donated to the Chaîne Foundation or you can opt for a 10% discount if you have already taken a Trip to France with Bertrand. 2016 France with Bertrand Basque Country– Dordogne (Périgord) Bordeaux Wine Region September 15– September 25 Bordeaux Wines Region Lascaux II Cave Hotel Sources de Caudallie ***** Martillac Chef Vincent Arnoud—Vieux Logis**** Tremolat—Perigord Château de Beychevelle– St Julien—Bordeaux Le Vieux Logis—Tremolat France with Bertrand Trip Highlights Areas Visited: Two days in Basque Country Three days in Dordogne (Périgord) Five days in Bordeaux wine region: Haut Medoc– St Emilion Famous Châteaux: Bergerac– Pècharmant Pauillac Château Pichon Longueville – Château Gruaud Larose St Julien Château Beychevelle Margaux Château Margaux– Château Palmer–Château du Tertre St Emilion Château Villemaurine- Pomerol Château Clinet Amazing Sites St Emilion Medieval Village– Biarritz Town Sarlat Medieval and Renaissance Village Les Eyzies– World capital of the Prehistoric times & Lascaux II Paramount Four and Five Stars Hotels Hotel***** Hotel du Palais in Biarritz right on the Atlantic Ocean 1 Star Michelin restaurant Hotel Sources de Caudalie***** in the middle of Pessac Leognan vineyards– 2 Star Michelin restaurant Trip Details 10 night-11 Day– Trip Starts in Bordeaux and ends in Bordeaux Limited to 12-14 guests Price per person for eleven days: $7,200 all inclusive except air fare To r e c e i v e m o r e i n f o r m a t i o n o n this trip please e -mail Bertrand [email protected] Chaîne Trip 2016 Basque Country Itinerary 15-Sep-2016 16-Sep-2016 17-Sep-2016 Thursday Friday Saturday Bordeaux Basque Country Basque Country Morning on your Own Suggestions: AM Departure for Basque Country SPA (2 Hours Drive) Visit of Biarritz Rocher de la Vierge Shopping Lunch Restaurant Darraidou Espelette Arrival in Bordeaux Les Sources de Caudalie***** Martillac www.sources-Caudalie.com PM Visit of Espelette Village and Countryside Basque Region Check in Hotel du Palais***** Biarritz www.hotel-du-palais.com Lunch on your own Visit of the Basque Coast line St Jean de Luz Hendaye San Sebastian Hotel du Palais***** Welcoming Reception Restaurant La Table du Lavoir Les Sources de Caudalie Restaurant Chez Albert Seafood Restaurant Biarritz I Dinner Hotel du Palais One Star Michelin Chaîne Trip 2016 Dordogne Itinerary 18-Sep-2016 19-Sep-2016 20-Sep-2016 Sunday Monday Tuesday Basque Country-Dordogne Dordogne Dordogne Departure for Dordogne ( 3.5 Hours Drive) Rouffignac Cave 250 prehistoric cave drawings Visit of Medieval Town Sarlat Lunch on the Road Café de l'Esperance Bouillac Lunch Bistrot de l'Octroi Sarlat Visit Château de Monbazillac Bergerac -Monbazillac Visit Château de Beynac Historical Monument 13th century Visit Château des Milandes Previous Residence of Josephine Baker Lunch Château des Milandes Afternoon on your Own Visit of Lascaux II Cave 600-strong menagerie of animal figures Upper Paleolithic art Check in Vieux Logis**** Tremolat www.vieux-logis.com/ .
