How to Tell a Good Story? The Story Must Be
Interesting and Influential!

In the summer of 1994, Thomas was having afternoon tea with colleagues in the break room. Steve Jobs walked in,
started making a bagel and asked: "Who do you think is the most powerful person in the world?" Thomas immediately
replied: "Nelson Mandela!" Jobs, in his usual confident manner, said: "Wrong! The most powerful person in the world is
the storyteller. They create the vision, values and issues for a whole generation. This is the role that Disney took all for
himself. Do you know what? I've had enough! I want to become the next storyteller!" He then walked out of the break
room with the bagel. Jobs eventually fulfilled his vow. At the helm of Pixar, he created many very moving and influential
stories. He also applied his storytelling technique to Apple's brand strategy and re-defined the values of high-tech
products. Through Job's story, Apple products created a new and better future.
When you look back on Apple product launch conferences hosted by Jobs, didn't you feel really envious and sighed at
how your ideas always get shot down by your managers and colleagues? Storytelling is the most effective way of getting
your idea out. In an influential story, it not only contains a cleverly placed message but can also stir the audience's
interest and build an emotional connection with the audience. Decision-making then goes beyond just reason and logic.
Elements of a Good Story
According to the Stillmotion production team, a moving story should possess 3 basic elements: character, plot and
purpose. G!VOICE will now use the most popular Super Bowl ad in America last year - Doritos' "Goat 4 Sale" - to
discuss how a good story presents these 3 basic elements.
1. Character: The main character in the story does not have to be human. It can be an animal or object. In the Doritos ad
for example, the main character is the Doritos-addicted goat "Moose", and its new owner. The fun interaction between
them transports the audience into the story. The character in the story is connected to the audience's lifestyle somewhat.
If the story's intended audience is single males, then a funny story about pregnancy is not going to gain much attraction. If
it's a story about military service then it will grab their attention and make immersion easier.
2. Plot: Every story has a journey. It usually opens with the status quo, then something happens to bring change for the
better or for worse. In the Doritos ad, there were two events. One is the male character buying the Doritos-loving goat
and the beginning of happy hours spent eating Doritos together. The second event was when the snack cabinet was
cleared out and the plot seemed to become a thriller.
Regardless of whether the change introduced by the event is for better or worse, there must always be conflict and an
enemy. The enemy can appear in any form including an opponent, a bottleneck in R&D, or even a seemingly tame goat.
When the audience and the characters face and overcome problems together, they project themselves onto the
character as well. This journey must be unpredictable because if the audience can predict what happens next, they will
lose interest in the story.

3. Purpose: Before telling the story, be very clear on why you are telling this story? What does it mean to the audience?
Pixar animation producer Andrew Stanton mentioned in a TED lecture that "A good story will always have a strong and
powerful theme running through it". In the Doritos ad, the male character's purchase of a Doritos-loving goat, or the
originally tame goat going crazy were all centered around the theme of "Doritos is so tasty it makes us do things we don't
usually do". People may want to try writing the theme down in one phrase or in a few short words in order to ensure that
the story stays true to the theme.
Use Storytelling Techniques in the Proposal
How to artfully package the message in the story during the presentation is not as hard as people imagine it to be. Wellknown American presentation designer Nancy Duarte analyzed many great speakers and compiled a common speech
model. First, they use storytelling to describe the current situation, discuss the current problems and then propose their
core view. They then outline the better future that this will create. The audience will then start thinking over whether they
should accept this viewpoint. The speaker must therefore provide multiple examples and use more micro-stories to
support their core view. Finally, they make the conclusion in a dramatic and poetic manner. During storytelling, try using
more body language and visual imagery. Give the audience hints on how to respond, and choose the right vocabulary
based on the audience's level of expertise. These will all help with effectively conveying the message to the audience
through storytelling.
▲55% of the information remembered by the audience is transmitted visually, 38% is transmitted orally, and only 7% is transmitted
through text. So deciding what pictures and graphs will be needed in the PowerPoint presentation right from the start will help
enhance the story's interest and the stickiness of the message.

Be creative
Like reading books or watching movies, storytelling involves drawing the audience into the story. Storytelling is a
process of "recreation". You are creating the feeling, building up the atmosphere, or presenting a concept. When faced
with an audience from different backgrounds, having something in common is the best way of achieving resonance.
Alternatively, a lively performance will also help people understand what the storyteller is getting at. To draw other people
in, you must get into the groove yourself first. Add some elements that boost your imagination such as music, pictures,

Harvard social psychologist Amy Cuddy once said: "Body language decides who you are." When speaking, we often
concentrate on using tools and speech to express ourselves. Yet we forget all about a decisive weapon we are all born
with - body language. The audience may comprehend the content through the voice, but vision remains the most direct
way of receiving information. Physical motions such as the look in your eyes, hand gestures and positioning all explicitly
convey the speaker's condition. Whether they are anxious or relaxed is plain to see. It can even convey all kinds of
scenarios to the audience. Amy Cuddy also suggested that, by adopting a confident posture, people can become more
self-confident as well and gradually change their lives. Be it a performance, a proposal or even when facing the customer
or colleagues, making good use of body language will enhance your charisma!

Create tension
Stories with one climax after another are always captivating. By continuing to bury clues and reveal new secrets, people
will be gradually drawn to the heart of the story and become anxious to see its conclusion. By making use of storytelling
techniques, a good speaker can create the same atmosphere as an exciting movie or novel. Use techniques such as
tone, manner, props, humor and suspense to control the pace of the story. By mixing tension, relief and surprise, you will
have the audience eating out of your hands.
Audience participation
Two-way communication always triumphs over one-way absorption. Through questions, sensory stimuli and games,
audience participation can enhance comprehension by turning it into personal experience. This makes it very hard to
forget! There are also "tricks" to interaction. Examples include questions with several possible answers, topics that the
other side is interested in, inviting the others to perform an action or repeat after you. After that, give praise and
affirmation. A positive interaction will create a storytelling experience that is pleasant for both sides and memorable.

woven from stories written by the company, pop culture, influencers and customers. In the past, the brand stories of the
digital entertainment industry were replete with the story of the founder, R&D team or spokesperson. In recent years,
leading brands have all started changing their brand content strategy to put the spotlight back on the user. Moving user
experiences are used to create a brand image with warm and build up consumer support.
The Moving Story of Google
"If we did not make you cry, we failed!" said Lorraine Twohill, Google's global marketing vice-president . Using moving
stories to market a brand was once thought odd for cold, high-tech products. But Google's moving ads successfully gave
the brand warmth and a human touch. For example, in the "Zetigest 2013" produced every year, Google went through
trillions of search records to compile the people, events and objects that attracted the most attention during the year. It
then relived those exciting, painful, surprising and courageous moments with the users through film. This expressed the
brand value of caring about society and proved that Google was fulfilling its mission - to help the user find the information
they need.

Having experienced how storytelling can create an emotional bond, Google has begun encouraging users to tell stories
in recent years so that the Google brand can be associated with storytelling. At this year's Oscars, Google launched the
ad "We're All Storytellers". Toy Story producer Andrew Stanton set the tone with "We all love to hear stories, we are born
for stories" and encouraged the audience to record the moment when stories happen. Google is also strengthening the
storytelling association with their products. From the Google+ Stories app that automatically integrated travel photos and
Google+ messages into a single storybook, to the new Tour Builder function that allowed users to add travel stories to
Google Map, these all demonstrated Google's push to help users write stories and become a part of the user's story.

Now approaching its 70th year, Sony is adept at using storytelling to emphasize its brand history, heritage as well as
touch the heart. The latest corporate image advertising "Join Together" conveyed how Sony has remained true to the
collaboration of artist and engineer during product development in order to create experiences that touch your heart. The
other Sony Experia ad then tried to awaken customer loyalty and emphasized the good times that the consumer had
enjoyed with Sony over the years. From watching rockets take off on the Sony TV box, playing PS video games with
friends, or using a camera to film the fall of the Berlin Wall, Sony used a storytelling approach to take the audience on a
journey into the past. This told the audience that Sony products will continue to extend this heart-touching moment and
remained true to the new brand slogan - "be moved".

Apart from using people and events to tell stories, Sony's tens of thousands of products are main characters in the brand
story as well. On the brand's image site (Sony.com/BEMOVED), the story of Sony products are used to communicate
the company's R&D philosophy. The Sony Archives in Tokyo also uses Sony products that defined their era to tell
stories, such as first radio in Japan, the classic personal media player like the Walkman and the first color TV. These
were all aimed at associating the Sony brand with long history and continuous innovation.
Consumers have become brand-oriented in recent years. Digital entertainment brands are now using the consumer's
story to build their brand image. This was unlike functional and performance brand associations made in the past. By
telling stories, the brands can be made more romantic to consumers. In addition to telling stories through conventional
ads and copies, these digital entertainment brands were trying to tell a story about the product itself and give the product
warmth and character.

Rise of Micro-Stories Breathe Magic into Brand

The brand story is an essential technique when marketing brands. The founding story is often used to shape the brand's
image but it's hard to the average person to identify with the story. A brand must therefore find micro-stories closer to the
consumer's experience and use a more approachable, localized point of view to make the customer identify and connect
with the brand values. Apart from story localization, Yankelvich Research reports that consumers now see 3,000 ~
20,000 advertisements each day in this age of information explosion. This makes them short on patience and easily
distracted. The change in consumer behavior in this new age means the narrative must also been pared down to short
micro-stories.
Touching Localized Micro-Stories
How can micro-stories be found? In his article on "The Art of Storytelling", Michael Mitchell, a brand consultant at
InterBrand, said: "The trick is to find the key theme behind the brand and then look for micro-stories that carry the same
brand message." Swedish furniture brand IKEA is a master at brand marketing through storytelling. Localized microstories based on the theme of "creating a better life for everyone" is used to increase attentiveness to consumers. In
Spain, which has the fastest aging population in Europe, IKEA told the story of a retiree who found new life through a
steel chair from IKEA. In Taiwan, IKEA incorporated the local culture into the brand micro-story as well. The main
character in the story becomes the female owner of a betel nut stand. A makeover to her small and cramped betel nut
stand with IKEA allowed her and her family to finally enjoy a comfortable environment. IKEA rarely talks directly about its
low-cost and designer products in its countless micro-stories. Instead, it focuses on emotional needs and connections.
Localized characters and a developing plot brought it closer to the consumer, creating a brand image of IKEA caring
about consumers and being willing to create a better life together with the consumer.
IKEA Start Something New
Short, Succinct and Effective Micro-Story
Long advertisements and long copies have fallen out of favor in recent years. Among the younger generation, 15-second
video clips, Twitter posts limited to 140 words and short illustrated articles are now all the rage. To satisfy the market
demand for micro-content, Twitter's video platform Vine limits videos to 6 seconds of looped content. This has proven
very popular with web users and it now has 40 million users after just 18 months. For this reason, many brands are now
developing their micro-story marketing in the hopes of using micro-stories to connect with younger users through social
media such as Facebook, Twitter and Tumbler. Samsung has invested a great deal of effort in micro-stories over the
past 2 years. In its 6-second videos on Vine, it used short and succinct micro-stories to give warmth to cold, high-tech
products. This is because Samsung knows that when you create a micro-story that is meaningful, humorous and closely
related to the consumer's everyday life, the consumer will be more than happy to share the brand story with others in
turn.

Brand stories for this brave new world are short, localized and effective micro-stories. They might not be passed down

depends on how you use them! When it comes to storytelling, Gamanians in different fields all have their own unique
insights. This exclusive in-depth interview by G!VOICE will show you Gamanians' ways of telling stories!
Pay attention to little things in life - Connie Ma, Director of CSO Global Business Development
Office
With her confident attitude and frank laugh, Connie Ma (Director of Global Market Development Office) speaks in an
easy-going "big sister next door" kind of way that sees her make friends very easily. With a job that spans the globe and
involves constant communication/negotiation, does Connie have any tricks to storytelling?
"Depending on who I am talking to, I use different ways to leave a strong impression. This kind of judgment takes years
of experience." Connie once attended 51 meetings in 4 days during an overseas exhibition. In order to build a good
relationship with the customer in just 30 minutes and leave them with a strong impression of Gamania, she would tailor
her story to the customer's requirements and use it as her opening. For example, if the other side cares about loyalty
then Connie will tell them she has been working at Gamania for 12 years; if the other side is interested in products then
she would use Lineage as an example and discuss long-term product management. Connie chooses to tell stories to
break the ice because stories are better than data or formulaic product intros at building warmth towards a brand.
Connie says: "Storytelling is just a way of building a link with other people. What really matters is sincerity." She
remembers business partners' preferences and birthdays, and sends birthday well-wishes on the day. No matter how big
or small the company may be, she always maintains a sincere and hands-on approach. This is why Connie always
manages to build a strong friendship with other companies. The shared stories with these companies and the intangible
value these created are how she builds trust for Gamania.
Connie's many stories have the origins in her life experience. These moving moments in life are something that you can't
fake and that's what makes them so touching. She always mentioned that everyone knows how to tell stories. We just
don't bother remembering all the little things in life. Yet it's these inconsequential things that make good stories. For
example, what friends share on Facebook provides a lot of good material. "If you make the effort, storytelling is not hard
at all."
Stories Build Up Rapport - Jacky Chu, Chief Operation Officer of RED
Storytelling is not limited to just speech of course. Film, music and games are all exciting mediums in their own way!
From playing games to developing games, RED CEO Jacky Chu has extensive experience with the game industry. So
what's his view on storytelling in games?
"A lot of people in the industry were moved by games at some point in time." Even today, Jacky still finds the Nintendo
classic Legend of Zelda to be very memorable. In his opinion, stories in a game are not limited to the main plotline. The
atmosphere created by the whole game including the sound, special effects and gameplay are all part of the storytelling.
The game developer should just prepare the environment then wait for players to approach it in their own way and
discover the game's possibilities and value.
So how does storytelling show up in a game's details? Jacky said that it can be found even in a small, ordinary rock.
"Take for example a rock by the river. How long has it been there? Is it mossy? Did someone sit on it? If you don't have a
story, then it's just a rock, but not a rock by the river." He noted that a story gives depth and becomes easier for people to
accept. "Creating a sense of rapport is very important. I can say the rock has been there for thousands of years. It might
then have to look worn or be overgrown for other people to accept this setting."
Through long-term observation of the game industry, Jacky has also discovered differences in each country's game
narrative. Japan is good at developing passionate and inspiring stories while the West is good at using light, sound and
imagery to create the atmosphere so players can feel the ambience even with their eyes closed. Taiwan follows the
Japanese approach but the industry is still developing, and many of the leading industry talents received no formal
training. "They must find things out for themselves but they also have less baggage." Despite the deficiencies, Jacky is
still filled with hope for the development of the game industry in Taiwan.
Telling stories from the heart - Sin-yang Wu, Legal Assistant Manager of CSO
New Gamanians no doubt remember the law lecturer from their first law class. He was the only person on stage in nearly
3 hours of classroom time but it was like law cases being acted out one after another. Sometimes, he spoke in a
squeaky girls' voice, and during the climax of the story he'd even skip between multiple roles, sending the audience into
gales of laughter.
This person is Sin-yang Wu, Gamania's attorney. He is in charge of everything legal including contracts, complaints,
announcement of business directives, and dispute resolution. The legal profession has a reputation for being serious but
Wu always uses a humorous approach to helping big and small Gamanians solve their legal problems. Wu believes that
passion is the key to storytelling. "You must be passionate to care about the reaction and to act out the role." He
described himself as being a missionary on stage using his magnetism and energy to influence everyone.
Apart from recruit training and corporate legal affairs, Wu must also attend over 200 consumer dispute negotiations a
year involving consumers, police, consumer protection officers and judges. He used the recent case of "Maple Story"
hack as an example. In the early years, infringement of computer usage required actual intrusion for prosecution. He reinterpreted hacking as the tampering with the consumer-side data packet and then sending it back to the server to
deceive the decision-making mechanism so should considered intrusion. Though the judge did not understand games at
all, this link between existing laws and illegal activity persuaded him to put a stop to cheating in games.
"Skill as a storyteller will affect a person's future outcome." Wu also mentioned that storytelling is just a way of
communication. This is an ability that is needed in teaching, persuasion and explanation. What is more important to legal
professionals is a sense of empathy. He treats everyone he meets during the cases as a friend and tells stories from the
heart while staying to true to the ideals and values of the law.

Apart from photos, even videos and special effects that have a higher threshold can now be easily produced with mobile
devices. There all kinds of apps for different requirements including slide shows, photo filters/montages, image editing,

Every day, we go on social networking sites, watch videos, send and receive e-mails. In the digital age, we are actually
always on the storytelling stage. We now have more and more opportunities to influence the people around us or even
throughout the world.
In 2012, Israeli graphics designer Ronny Edry uploaded a photo he took with his daughter featuring the message "Iran,
we love you" during tensions between Israel and Iran. This small gesture quickly took off over the social network. Israelis
and Iranians who once thought they hated each other all responded enthusiastically online by posting their own
messages of love, enhancing mutual communication and understanding.

Interactive Interface Design is Simple?

First, perish that thought. It is important to have a good-looking interface design but ease of use takes priority over good
looks. In pure graphic design, there is no need to consider human "interaction". In interface design, however, the concept
of "interaction" must be incorporated. It must respond and give feedback to all user operations, and optimize the
software's usability within the constraints of the hardware. How to achieve the perfect balance between the visuals and
performance is what keeps interface designers up at night.
So what is good Interactive interface design?
In the book Designing for Interaction, it mentions 7 key points to good interactive interface design:
1. Can be trusted
Take Google Maps and Apple Maps for example. In iOS7, Apple adopted a map it designed and developed itself.
Apple Maps looked better but it often misled the user and took them to god knows where. No matter how good it looked,
it made people distrust it. That's why people generally stuck with Google Maps, an established product with high
precision.

2. Appropriate
The CNN website for example changes how it works and its layout based on each country's culture, social conditions
and even politics. This eliminates the burden of adaptation for users from different backgrounds (English-speaking
countries for example read from left to right, Arabic-speaking countries read from right to left. For two countries with
completely opposite ways of reading and writing, the design and layout of the website will be different as well)

3. Smart

4. Responsive
In other words, avoid delays that cause user impatience. If we start an application program but it stays suck at the startup screen with no progress bar, this makes the user impatient. It also reduces trust, willingness to use, and makes you
wonder if the program has crashed. In some circumstances, provide the user with suitable response and feedback to let
them know what's happening or reduce their impatience.
5. Refined
Here it means putting yourself in the user's boots on the details. For example, when we are using a new app we must not
only fill in the required fields (e.g. e-mail, name, phone number) but a slew of membership details as well. Are these
details absolutely necessary? We may want to consider putting these optional fields on the second layer or skipping

out right there?
6. Interesting
People are more attracted to the fresh and interesting. Adding some fun elements can attract the user's curiosity as well
as increase the odds of being used and stickiness. It will certainly be more likely to liked and promoted than plain, boring
applications. LINE Rangers, for example, allows the player to interact with in-game characters at the Loading screen.
Apart from replacing the usual sand timer or spiral with a cute animated character, clicking on the character makes it fall
over or attack. The player is not bored while waiting.

7. Pleasantness
People like to use things that feel pleasant. Everyone wants to use an app that makes them feel happy. The key to
making users feel happy includes not only the functions and design aesthetics but also to eliminate pressure and
unpleasantness when the user is using the app. If there are no operating difficulties or hiccups, smooth operations will
increase user satisfaction.
Apart from the 7 above points, visuals and audio are also areas where interactive interface design can be enhanced.
Users have always depended on their five senses and for those living in the age of information explosion, the senses of
vision and hearing are particularly important. By using graphics, sound (e.g. sound effects or voiceover) and dynamic
images, the interface can be imbued with two or more media formats to form a multimedia user interface. The
introduction of dynamic, musical, sound effect or image elements can also enhance user acceptance of information. In
RPG games for example, the addition of striking effects and sounds when fighting monsters enhances the fun of the
game through sight and sound.

TD Trust ATM: An ATM That Dispenses "More than
Just Cash"

If you got to the ATM to withdraw some money and instead of money, it dispensed a plane ticket to Disneyland, or "gives
you 1 dollar when you wanted 50 cents", how would you react?
TD Trust, a Canadian Bank, launched the "TD Thanks You" campaign to give customers a surprise. To convey the
message "TD Trust is a bank that understands you", the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) in some regions were
secretly converted to Automated Thanking Machines. These machines look just like a normal ATM. It's only when you
insert your card and prepare to operate the machine that you discover "this machine knows you well".

This machine not only says "Hi!" but also interacts with you. It even knows your name and what recently happened to you
whether good or bad. A corresponding gift is then given to you. Some people receive extra money, some people receive
a gift that "can't be dispensed from an ATM". These can be a bouquet of flowers, a ticket to fly to another city for visiting
a relative, or team shirt…. If you were that lucky someone, you'd be grinning from ear to ear!
Customer Respect are Not Just Empty Words
You might be wondering like I am, how this machine knows the customer's name, their preferences and what recently
happened to them?
The truth goes like this: TD Trust asked branch employees to identify customers who they feel deserve this special
surprise and then the customers were "invited to test the new ATM service". They weren't told they will be receiving a
special gift.
Since they were handpicked, the bank naturally chose people with a story. And these stories were learnt through these
customers' everyday interactions with bank employees. That's how the bank knew what happened and what gifts to give
out. And naturally, their names as well.

One of them was a baseball lover and Toronto Blue Jays fan. Apart from receiving a Blue Jays team shirt and cap, TD
Trust even invited former Big League home run king and current Blue Jay right outfielder Jose Bautista to personally
invite this fan to deliver the opening pitch at the game - "something that not even money can buy".
The most touching story was a mother whose only daughter living in another city had just undergone cancer surgery. TD
Trust thoughtfully presented her with a return plane ticket so she could visit her daughter.
As for customers not on the list and did not use the machine, TD Trust didn't neglect them either. Every user who used
the bank's services at the counter or online at 2PM on July 25 received an unexpected check for US$20.
Enhance Your Event by Creating Unexpected Surprises
These events that surprise people often earn goodwill and give an immediate boost to happiness. It almost always work
and surprisingly, it's not "how much the gift is worth or how useful it is" that people care about, but whether "it gave me an
unexpected surprise".

Kumamoto, a traditional agricultural prefecture in Japan with a population of just 1.8 million, came up with a creative
secret weapon - Kumamon. Thanks to Kumamon, Kumamoto Prefecture achieved nearly 90% national recognition,
increased tourism by nearly 190,000 people, and sold up to 29.36 billion Yen in Kumamon peripheral merchandise in
2012! Even convenience stores in Taiwan are now getting on the bandwagon by releasing a series of Kumamon
merchandise. So how did Kumamon go from the rural countryside to the international stage? Find out with G!VOICE!
The Many Faces of City Marketing
Tourism is a new economy that countries are all rushing to develop. Cities are all trying to be as creative as they can to
make their own cultural offerings more interesting. England has made creative industries a key national development. Its
art festivals and carnivals have attracted hordes of local and foreign visitors. The Museum of London has even created
an app (Streetmuseum) that uses augmented reality to bring history to life when you are walking on the streets. There is
also Australia's working holidays as well as "The Best Job in the World" that generated a huge buzz. The big increase in
cities' visibility helps to stimulate the economy and create local opportunities.
Despite being a rather remote agricultural district, Kumamoto Prefecture wanted to increase its opportunities. Despite
having absolutely no background in marketing, the civil servants decided to take advantage of Kyushu Shinkansen's
opening of the Kumamoto Station and launch a series of projects. First, they invited local author Kundo Koyama and
designer Hiko Mizuno to come up with the original Kumamon. This was then followed by flash street advertising, handing
out of business cards, and research into funny body movements that imbued Kumamon with great humor. While the
Tohoku Earthquake prevented Kumamon from making its grand appearance, the street events as well as cute and funny
online videos generated widespread interest!
Free Licensing for Global Dispersion
Having generated the interest, how should Kumamon sustain the momentum and reach more people? Kumamoto
Prefecture's government decided to adopt a strategy of mass exposure. Anything that helped to promote Kumamoto
Prefecture was allowed to use the rights to Kumamon graphics for free! The government, in essence, sacrificed
licensing fees in return for more Kumamon exposure. Since its inception, Kumamon has built up more than 20,000
licensed products in every area including food, clothing, accommodation, travel, education and recreation. It even
recently crossed the seas to become a new favorite for Taiwan's convenience stores - demonstrating its immense
popularity!
Mass licensing actually boosted the value of Kumamon and Kumamoto Prefecture estimated that sales of peripheral
merchandise reached 29.36 billion Yen the year before. Many local small enterprises even managed to resurrect their
business through licensed Kumamon merchandise!

From Kumamon to Kumamoto
In the past, most city marketing focused on the actual city itself. Kumamon however created a new paradigm: Fall in love

relations campaign helped make Kumamon a smash hit in Japan that is now going global.

When it comes to work, Gamanians are always in the lead, having mastered the skill of setting targets, then surpassing
them! But when it comes to the body, people are often completely clueless. They don't know what's happening, and don't
know how to set things right. This time, "SPACE 17" organized the "Fit Body, Fit Mind" themed exhibition to teach
Gamanians how to get that healthy, toned body in their spare time!
To introduce Gamanians to the secrets of body weight numbers, the "Fit Body, Fit Mind" exhibition provided the formulae
for BMI and body fat percentage. As a thoughtful touch, a calculator and scale was also on-hand. If Gamanians aren't
satisfied with their body shape, the exhibition also featured an illustrated guide on toning the body without equipment so
everyone can exercise at home or in the office.

The illustrated guide at "SPACE 17" alone was not enough to satisfy hot-blooded Gamanians with their thirst for
knowledge. Fitness trainer Jason Lin was invited to teach the secrets of perfect body tone. Three exercise classes were
held in quick succession on arm sculpting, paunch show-down and turning carrots into sexy legs. So many people signed
up that the classes were maxed-out. At the end of the classes, all of the students walked out of Gama Club tired but
satisfied.

beta (OB) on June 26. Netease Deputy CEO Wang Yi personally attended the OB press conference and joined
Gamania Taiwan CEO Chuang Chengchi in announcing Heroes of Kingdoms's bid to dominate the MOBA gaming
scene! Heroes of Kingdoms had already built up massive public support during closed beta by releasing the 10 vs. 10

Lu Bu the Anti-Hero Enters the Fray, All Heroes Free to Play
The recent Heroes of Kingdoms no-reset CB has now accumulated more than 10,000 player logins. To date, the hero
Huang Zhong has achieved the highest exposure while Zhao Yun, Xiao Qiao and Diao Chan have all won players' favor
as well. Of the new heroes released for the OB, first is of course the melee hero Lu Bu along with Cao Zhi, Yan Liang,

4. PVE Challenge Instance: The new mode unlocked in the OB contains four levels: Warrior's Trial, Swordsman's Trial,
Doombringer's Trial and Trial Campaign. The levels are now significantly harder as players will be faced with
overwhelming hordes of enemies and the Yellow Turban legions. Final bosses such as Su Mo and Zhang Chiao await
them! What's really special is that Challenge Mode offers players the chance to find Star General and top-level orange
equipment; Star Generals can accompany the hero into combat and give the hero additional abilities. Each hero can
take up to three Star Generals into combat.
5. PVE Story Instances: Historical campaigns that everyone are familiar with are used as background. Players can go
to war against the Yellow Turban bandits and have a chance of finding high-level purple equipment during fights.

Kart Rider Becomes Transfomers' Latest Battlefield!

Gamania's leisure racing game Kart Rider released its biggest expansion this year simultaneously in Taiwan, China and
Korea: Transformers. The first two new karts are of course Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots, and Galvatron, the
leader of the Decepticons! The two new karts completely overturned players' impression of the game because when the
players hit the boosters while in motion, their kart immediately turns into a transformer and keeps going. Along with the

2014 DOTA Blockbuster Heroes of Kingdoms Goes
into No-Reset Closed Beta

The multi-player online battle arena (MOBA) blockbuster Heroes of Kingdoms co-developed by Gamania and Netease,
a leading Chinese game company, recently held two waves of closed VIP betas which received an overwhelmingly
positive response from gamers. The no-reset closed beta that everyone has been waiting for will now launch on June 14.
In addition to unlocking the widely popular 10 vs. 10 grand melee mode, the fast-paced classic 5 vs. 5 mode with new
original maps will also be released at the same time. The Yellow Turban Uprising and Dong Zhuo the Usurper instances
of the historical RPG mode will also become available. During the closed beta, players will be able to experience 54
heroes each with their own traits and attributes for free, ranging from Zhao Yun, one of the five tiger generals of Shu
Kingdom, or Zhenji who floats like a feather and twists like a dragon. To celebrate the grand launch of Heroes of
Kingoms, the famous gaming commentator Ludan was invited to give the opening broadcast. In the future, more
commentators will be added to live broadcasts as well.

4 Easy-to-Learn Battle Modes and First Login Giveaway
It has always been one of the top priorities in Heroes of Kingdoms in order to provide players with the most simple,
direct and visually spectacular gaming experience. The development team worked closely with a leading Korean studio
and spent 4 months on optimizing a hard-hitting experience. Heroes of Kingdoms offers not only classic 5 vs. 5 team
matches, but also generated a huge buzz with its pioneering the 10 vs. 10 grand melee mode. The excitement offers
intense online combat for up to 20 layers, providing double the non-stop fun of classic mode! In such a fast-paced game,
players can use the Wish function before the game to receive a martial, strategy, fortification, valor, supply attribute or
random buff to increase their odds of winning. Heroes of Kingdoms also uses the historical background that everyone is
familiar with to create the RPG mode arena. During the closed beta, all of the PVE campaign levels will be unlocked for
players to challenge. Come pass the trials of the Yellow Turban Uprising or bring salvation to the masses in Dong Zhuo
the Usurper. Between June 14 and 22, players will receive a First Login Gift when they log into the game for the first time.

Champions Flock to Heroes of Kingdoms, Try Taking Over the World with 54 Heroes for Free
The character design, exquisite animation and character traits of the heroes in Heroes of Kingdoms have generated
much positive feedback from players. The Heroes of Kingdoms development team disassembled then re-combined
every action while using live motion-capture technology to faithfully recreate every move by each hero. Extensive
historical research was conducted by Heroes of Kingdoms on character appearances. In addition to the historical
background, changes in regional costumes over time and even the material used in clothing required rigorous research.
During the closed beta, players will be able to experience the traits and attributes of all 54 heroes for free. The 42
existing famous historical heroes will take to the field first on June 14 led by Zhao Yun, Zhu Rong, Sun Shangsiang, Meng
Huo, Shamoke and Weiyang; June 19 will see the battle for China joined by Tai Shici, Zang Ba, Hanzo Hattori, Pan
Zhang, Zhenji and Jiang Gan. Between June 14 and 22, players with previous experience of DOTA-like games who fill
out a questionnaire will receive 3 chosen heroes during open beta.

As they say, teamwork is king. Take on the world with your friends. Between June 14 and 22, Gang creation
requirements will be greatly reduced - all you need is 2 players in a party, with 1 player who has accumulated 30 PVP
victories during the event period. The other player must pass the instance level Rescue Diaochan by Moonlight (Normal).
When both players have completed their respective missions, simply give the required materials to the NPC to get a
taste of what being a Gang Leader is like! In order for more players to experience the awesome combat of Heroes of
Kingdoms, popular game commentator Ludan has been invited to give the opening broadcast on the day of the closed
beta. In the future, more commentators will be added to live broadcasts as well.
