and Best Fine Dining category.

Walking into the Thai Orchid Room,
guests are greeted with high ceilings,
intricate decor and a friendly server. The
business prides itself on the details,
whether it’s authentic Thai food or
general cleanliness, Thai Orchid Room is
a cut above. Owners Sou and Ken Boss
are proud to say they’ve been in business
in Medicine Hat for eight years.
Sou originally ran the business in Bow
Island, but after nine years she and Ken
decided to open up in Medicine Hat. The
pair had a loyal group of clientele which
helped make the transition to the city
easier, says Sou. They haven’t regretted
the move.
Thai Orchid Room prides itself on a
high standard of excellence. The quality
of food and service are very important to
the Boss family. With 12 full- and parttime employees, the family business is
dedicated to serving its customers.
“Our chefs are authentic Thai chefs,
they all have experience in five-star
restaurants and have at least 15 years of
experience each,” says Ken.

The restaurant has been featured in
Where To Eat Canada three years in a row,
but Sou says they’re honoured to be
recognized locally. The pair, along with
their four children, love living in the city,
complimenting it on its size and culture.
“There’s so much to do here. We have
everything but it’s not huge like Calgary
or really small like Bow Island.”
Thai Orchid Room’s selection of
dishes, attention to detail and
commitment to quality made them
candidates for best fine and ethnic dining
in Medicine Hat, but the couple
recognize that the customers made it
possible.
“We’re truly thankful. We’re just going
to keep doing what we know and love to
do.”
