Make Your Own Pirate Hat!
You will need:
Card
White Felt
A feather
Needle & thread or wool
Scissors
PVA glue
Black Felt
Sticking tape
Sharp pencil
Paints/pens
1)
Cut out all the shape templates.
2) Place the hat template onto the card. The dotted line is a fold line
so draw around the template up to this line and then fold it over
to draw around the other half. (You should then have a complete hat-shape outline.) Do this twice so you have 2 card hat shapes.
3) Stick the card hat shapes to the black felt and then cut around the
outline leaving a extra 1cm of felt.
4) Fold over and glue the bottom edges of the hat shapes to make a
nice neat edge on both pieces.
5) Glue along the top edge of one hat shape on the felt only. Place
the other hat shape on top and line them up neatly. Press the top
edges together firmly and allow the glue to dry. Then trim the felt
to ½cm from the edge of the card.
6) Stitch over the seam of the top edge of your hat using your needle
and thread/wool.
7) Draw around your templates for the skull and crossbones onto
white felt.
8) Glue these shapes onto one side of your hat shape. Use black felt,
paint or pens to decorate with a face.
9) Make a small hole in the back of your hat with a needle or sharp
pencil (be careful!) and insert the feather. Secure this in place on the inside of your hat with sticking tape.
10) Put on your hat and hit the high seas - anchors away me hearties!
