The Clay County Tourist Development Council met in the Thrasher-Horne Center, Meeting Room E, 283
College Drive, Orange Park at the above date and time. After discussion, the committee recommended the
following:

Bed Tax Collection Update & Tourism Office Budget (Slaybaugh)

Jackie Slaybaugh, Tourism Director presented the Bed Tax Collection report for the months of
April and May, 2010. Ms. Slaybaugh reported that year-to-date collections total is $288,598 and
she anticipates that approximately $430,000 will be collected by the end of FY 2009/10. Ms.
Slaybaugh stated that the TDC/Tourism Office line item for promotional activities has a balance
of $17,000 for the remainder of the fiscal year.
TDC Sub-committee presentation of revised grant application (Hildreth/Slaybaugh)

Mary Lou Hildreth presented the sub-committees recommendations for changes to the grant
application that has been used for the past five years. The Committee recommended approval
of the revised grant application with minor changes. Creation of Sports Development Advisory Committee - # of committee members, selection
criteria, responsibilities, timeframe for recommendations, etc. 4
Discussion was held regarding the creation of a volunteer Sports Development Advisory
Committee that will explore the pros and cons of developing sports tourism in Clay County. A
desire to serve as volunteers on the committee was expressed by several members.

A suggestion was made that the Director of Tourism hold a group meeting with the county’s
hoteliers on a quarterly basis or as deemed necessary. No action on the job description was
taken.

Old Business/New Business/Comments
Carl Post re-addressed his previous proposal regarding the development of a Film Commission
position. No action was taken.
